What is SendBird?

SendBird is a packaged messaging-as-a-service that is designed to help developers build and manage messaging function in less than 5 minutes.

SendBird says it strives to build the whole messaging SDK and backend from the scratch to help developers save time and resources in order to allow them to focus on making apps and services more engaging. SendBird allows mobile developers to easily attach 1-on-1 messaging and group chat to their application. The developer kit also comes with rich features for significantly boosting chat usability, such as message read count, delivery status, profanity filters, and user-to-user block. These options go along with administration tools that allow developers to manage chat sessions. Additionally, SendBird’s chatroom supports multimedia files, graphs, voting, and content sharing, with all options fully customizable for service providers.

Nice in-app chat system

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using SendBird in our organization for charting with our users through the mobile app. We primary use it for sales and customer support departments. Its not that hard to implement or integrate with an existing mobile app. We can customise some of the features and user interface according to our requirements.

Pros

  • It has nice user interface
  • We don't have to face any downtime using SendBird
  • It has nice performance and great efficiency

Cons

  • It's support system is not that efficient
  • Documentation needs improvement
  • It's pricing is a little bit high comparing to other available options

  • Pricing can get expensive once you go over the 100 MAU limit for the Developer tier.
