TrustRadius Insights are summaries of user sentiment data from TrustRadius reviews and, when necessary, 3rd-party data sources. Have feedback on this content? Let us know!

Wide selection of stock photos: Many users have praised Shutterstock for its wide selection of stock photos, including high-quality graphics, photos, vector graphics, and illustrations. This extensive library of images allows users to find the perfect visual content for their projects.

Superior search functionality: The filters and search functionality on Shutterstock are highly regarded by users. They appreciate how easy it is to find images that meet their specific requirements. With the ability to apply various search criteria such as age groups or rotation, users can quickly narrow down their options and find the exact image they need.

Helpful customer service: Users have consistently praised the customer service provided by Shutterstock. They have found the support team to be helpful and responsive in addressing any concerns or issues they may have had. This prompt assistance has contributed to a positive user experience on the platform.

Confusing User Interface: Several users have found the user interface on Shutterstock to be confusing and difficult to navigate, making it challenging for them to complete tasks quickly.

Lack of Combined License/Subscription Option: Users have expressed a desire for a combined license/subscription option that would allow them to use credits towards both audio and video footage, instead of having to purchase separate subscriptions. Some users feel that this lack of flexibility results in wasted downloads each month.

Limited Availability of Premium Photography: There is disappointment among users that premium photography, such as Getty images, is not available on Shutterstock. This limitation has led some users to explore other stock photo websites that offer more natural options, although at a higher price point.

Based on the user reviews, there are three common recommendations for Shutterstock:

  1. Utilize monthly subscriptions or annual commitments for access to a large amount of content and better value for money compared to other stock websites.

  2. Explore search features and test filters to refine content viewing and find specific images or illustrations easily.

  3. Improve content quality by removing low-quality and repetitive content from Shutterstock's library. Additionally, enhance integration with marketing tools to enhance the overall user experience.

Overall, users praise Shutterstock for its clean interface, extensive image collection, reasonable pricing, ease of use, and excellent customer service. They also appreciate the flexibility in subscription plans and suggest negotiating prices with account managers.

We are a animation studio based in new delhi, India we create multiple animation projects in a week so with shutterstock we get animated clips and stock footage and the quality we get from shutterstock is amazing and industry standard. the best advantage of choosing shutterstock is their work quality its professional grade and it helps us to boost our video productions much faster.
  • Quality of videos and animations
  • Pay per clip and subscription plans which is amazing
  • Easy to use platform
  • most trusted company in this industry
  • their new Ai content creation features
  • their easy to use editor tools
  • i think the pricing is still higher than other platforms
  • locating right files is sometimes difficult here like the search results could be better
It is best suited for medium enterprises who get a lot of workload for their video productions and have many clients but lack of creative individuals. because it is a bit expensive than other competitors, but for some studios having good budget and looking for improving their work quality then shutterstock is the best platform with very good quality and quantity of graphics, photos and videos.
for small studios who are just starting out i think it is bit costly you can even go for some subscription based platforms which offer unlimited downloads but their is a bit downside you will have to compromise with quality of work. so in short if you have a decent budget then shutterstock is best for your creative needs.
  • motion graphics library
  • their ai content creation
  • easy to use dashboard and instant download and use features
  • it improved our work quality
  • it helped us to handle multiple projects as catered our creative needs well
  • due to faster project creation our business scaled
Shutterstock library and pricing is better than Adobe Stock also the preview is far better than Adobe Stock that's why i am still using shutterstock rather than Adobe Stock, their have a huge collections of images, videos than Adobe Stock. also the user interface of shutterstock is easy than Adobe Stock

I mostly use Shutterstock to find featured images for blogs and photos to embed in presentation slides. I need gorgeous, compelling images that don't feel authentic and not contrived. Shutterstock is a great place to get high-quality photos and illustrations that enhance my clients' brand and make them look professional.
  • Large library with a great variety of high quality images
  • "Similar images," "same model," and "same artist" suggestions to help you drill down your search for the right image
  • Handy editing tool that lets you save your custom image sizes
  • The editing tool has recently been updated and it doesn't seem to be working properly right now. But I trust they'll get it resolved quickly
Shutterstock is ideal for creatives who need images for digital marketing such as websites, blogs, case studies, or presentations. Visual elements can make or break a brand, and Shutterstock has an enormous library with a huge variety of image styles. Yes, there are your cliché stock images that look goofy or fake, but it's easy to find world-class photos and vector illustrations that add authenticity to any brand.
  • Affordable and flexible pricing options
  • Quality photos
  • Easy to search and use
  • Allows me to provide more comprehensive marketing services to my clients
  • Saves time hunting for images
  • One-stop shop for all my image needs
  • iStock and from Getty Images
Very comparable to iStock. In my experience, there isn't a huge difference between the two, but I like the way Shutterstock' provides suggested images for drill-down searching - iStock's suggestions are more limited. Shutterstock's pricing may be better as well, although it's been a while since I've compared the two.

We are a design team so we use shutterstock to license images for our publications, both print and digitally. The main reason we chose shutterstock is because once we license it, we can use those images without being sued. The secondary reason we use shutterstock is because it is easy to find assets that fit the needs of our publications. The third reason is because it will pair with our DAM system we are implementing.
  • Easy to find images
  • Easy to license
  • Easy to get ahold of our account executive
  • Reporting system is clunky
  • I wish it were easier to batch license
  • Filters on reporting system are aggravating
Shutterstock is great if you need to quickly license images. Their library is vast, making it easy to find appropriate assets for projects of all different shapes, sizes, and uses.

I know our company has contractually agreed to pricing, so I do not know how user friendly their pricing is to smaller organizations.
  • Very searchable images/assets
  • Wide variety of images/assets
  • Confidence in not being sued
  • Time saved by designers from how easy the searching is
  • The ROI in not getting sued is priceless!
