I train people in Solid Edge as the basis of my business. I also use Edge to do occasional design work for my customers, as well as use it to support users remotely.
  • Allows designers to work as they choose and not have to acclimate their work for the product's requirements. This results in productive use of Edge, thus an ROI for the company.
  • Manage large (high count of components) assemblies very well. Users spend little to no time trying to overcome speed issue with respect to assemblies.
  • Synchronous Design! This highly productive design process is unique to Edge and very addictive
  • School/university exposure and saturation is low, students getting hired out of school are unaware of Edge.
  • Market perception: competitors win the popularity contest in the CAD world. Yet, Edge is by far the functional king of the industry.
Sheet metal is way efficient easy to use. The advanced plastic design is strong but relatively unknown. The built-in data management is a great solution for all companies.
  • Mostly positive. My objective was to become a household name in technical training. Solid Edge's consistency in the market, and the vision to pioneer and maintain the synchronous design approach, means objective achieved.
  • along the way, Insight technology became a standard with small and medium-sized companies (as far as the number of users). Installation and support of Insight became 50% of my business revenue, and the ill-conceived decision by sales to drop support for SharePoint, and thus Insight, was negative. not just for me, but by far a negative reaction in the industry.
It's actually simple Solid Works wins the popularity contest, AutoCad has so many years of user base
Solid Edge wins the functionality portion of any comparison ($ to performance) to any product. eventually, companies realize this after the barrage of marketing. As the owner of the Parasolid Kernel, Edge thus is obviously the market survivor.
No
my contract with Siemens includes support
I have been involved with support and training of Solid Edge for 24 years. Given that I based my business model on support, and have been successful for all these years, I know excellent support. Siemens support for Solid Edge, "GTAC", is the definition of support for a product in every aspect.
Yes
yes - it was verified and submitted to development for a fix. I was aware of the process from start to finish.
