SilkRoad offers OpenHire, a recruiting and ATS system. It offers recruiting access through social media channels, data security, and EEO compliance for mid-sized to large businesses. It is a component of SilkRoad’s Lifesuite product line.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/cb/XD/U3CUIX4LAT2N.PNGGets the Job DoneOpenHire is used by our headquarters and has been rolled out in a few of our countries. It is primarily used by HR but touches every department. OpenHire is our first ATS system at Project Concern International. Originally, recruitment was very manual and all resumes went to a single email box. OpenHire was chosen to address our business problem of inefficient recruitment and to help us remain compliant with recruitment records.,Integrates with our website. The careers portal can be customized to blend seamlessly to your website so candidates don't realize that they have left your site. Rates your resumes based on key words from the job description. While not always accurate, this feature really helps you prioritize resumes to review when there are hundreds of them. Integrates very well with Aurico background checks and Silkroad's RedCarpet. This is a great feature because you can initiate the background check directly from the candidate's profile without having to get any sensitive information from the candidate prior to hiring. The integration with RedCarpet is also great because all of the candidate's information as well as the offer info and job details are sent to the onboarding program. This allows for quick setup of the new employee and reduces the need for any manual processes.,Reporting. While OpenHire has a number of standard reports, building a custom report is difficult. Support. Silkroad's support is severely lacking. They have grown too big too quickly and you often get support staff that don't know how to address your problem or they just stop working on it. You often have to follow up multiple times to get a problem resolved. There are some required fields in the job postings that are unclear but mandatory and some steps that are redundant. You definitely have to learn the quarks of the system.,6,OpenHire has very positively impacted our organization. It has allowed us to streamline our process and keep record of all of our recruitment electronically instead of in paper. It has allowed us to have a consistent recruitment process in all of our countries It has greatly increased the efficiency of our recruitment team. Only negative is that our organization has an expectation for reports and we are not able to always give them what they would like out of the system.,Adp Virtual Edge,1,9,No,1,No,9OpenHireOpenHire was used across the whole organization to manage our recruiting process. It took a manual process and automated it. OpenHire was easy to implement, easy to use, pretty intuitive and did not require a lot of maintenance or support. The program made the approval process easy and managers were able to do it on the go. All the candidates were in one place and it was easy to manage the positions from opening to closing.,Easy to implement User friendly and intuitive Cost efficient Helpful customer service,After the position was closed, the candidates associated with that role went into a general folder of "past candidates", they were no longer associated with the role.,7,Better customer service from HR, the tool gave us ability to notify every candidate of where they were in the process, this was not possible when the process was manual Made HR more efficient, by having the information at our finger tips, giving us the ability to run metrics and reports during the time that the company more than doubled in time.,Oracle PeopleSoft,8OpenHire ATS by SysAdmin and Implementation Project LeaderWe implemented OpenHire for our talent acquisition team so they would have an ATS. It is used to track and manage applicants for the full recruiting life cycle. The system was also used for loading, tracking, approving and posting job requisitions. Lastly OpenHire was used for reporting in support of business metrics and EEO/AAP reporting.,Manage Candidates/Applicants - full life cycle management and ease of moving candidates around in the process as well as easy disposition and automated e-mail triggers Job requisitions - job library, approval workflows with e-mail triggers. Mobile approvals as well as automated job posting to career site as well as 3rd party job boards Reporting: Many standardized reports and well as a solid ad-hoc reporting tool Easily integrated with SilkRoad's onboarding tool,Customer Service is slow and not proactive nor do they follow up very well More e-mail triggers Enhance mobile capabilities,7,Automated candidate communications once disposition is complete Ease of searching for candidates and managing candidates throughout the life cycle. Like all systems required significant reconfiguration if business processes change significantly PS Consulting expertise required,,1,5,1,Recruiting Business Process Automation Compliance Reporting,None, we used it as it was advertised,We used all the functionality it had to offer as an ATSApplicant Tracking that Helps Non-profitsWe use OpenHire to post National Office employment positions which include internships, part time and full time positions. We are able to include hiring managers into making decisions through the system and can easily contact and document correspondence with applicants. We previously did not have a good way to track applicants and everything was attached to our emails which could cause difficulty when training interns who had to use employee accounts/email addresses.,Tracks Applicant positions that they applied for and any updates Allows Hiring Managers the ability to view selective applicants and make comments or approve/decline interviews Allows HR to create reports and track how long jobs are open, where applicants come from and any other pertinent information,The browser compatibility issues are frustrating especially since applicant support has stopped Applicants have issues when applying for more than one job but the system thinks they are applying for the same job Applicants accidentally withdraw very easily thinking they can update their resume this way, I think there should be an additional pop up confirming that they want to withdraw their application,8,Employee Efficiency No double work Allows us to see how many positions one person has applied for,,8,30,2,Recruiting Internship Brand Recognition,Link to from LinkedIn and other sources Could be used for Chapters Rebuilding new departments,Chapter Job Postings External Job BoardsOpenHire can open the door to higher productivity. We used OpenHire's applicant tracking and contact resource management tool to find, track, hire and begin the credentialing process for physicians. The implementation of the system helped us reduce the time to hire providers from 69 days to 48 days within the first 6 months.,The best thing about OH is the intuitive nature of the program. With very little training we were able to use the tools within the system with very little effort. Very customizable system that fit in our one off process quirks that we just couldn't give up. It also offered many alternatives to help streamline process heavy departments. System administration was a breeze. Easy to add and remove customer locations as well as users.,There is nothing not to like about OH from a functional point. It was easy to use and had great reports. Cost is a little higher than some of the competition but for what they have to offer I think the value is there. I would make sure that you have a strong project manager to work with the support team during implementation. Its difficult doing it on your own unless you have done one in the past. Don't allow IT to dictate what can and con't be done. I made that mistake and it cost me some functionality in using the product to its fullest capability.,9,We reduced our time to fill from 69 days to 48 in the first 6 months. A huge improvement by anyones measure. Reports were available that allowed leadership to make knowledge based dicisions. Higher candidate satisfaction scores. Built in escalation phases that trigger a required next step.,iCIMS,HRM Direct,Taleo,9A good software ... Just needs an upgrade! Our organization uses SilkRoad Recruiting for all our organization's hiring needs. The platform is used by tellers all the way up to the CEO. The platform allows us to screen and review resumes and share them with our managers and departments located all across the DFW area.,Tracking notes for sharing with other hiring managers. Workflows to keep managers and recruiters on track and constantly communicating. Standard email templates to make communicating with prospective employees easy.,Connecting applications for the same person. There seems to be a missing link between allowing someone who we have declined and would never hire and allowing them to apply again and put them back in the stack without taking into account previous decisions. Interface needs to be updated. Customization is not very good. You have to go with what you are given,6,No real impact because we have a small recruiting department Has helped lower turnover over the past two years because of the ability to track notes,Taleo and iVantage,SilkRoad Life Suite, SilkRoad HRMS,18,2,Screening Interviewing Hiring,Housing interview notes Housing background checks and credit checks,Not sure at this time.,5,Yes,Product Features Product Reputation Vendor Reputation,Probably would have held of on making the purchase until we had attended one of the large HR Technology fairs and seen what was out there. We jumped on SilkRoad because of a referral from business partner who used it.,5,Yes,Cannot recall.,Sending candidates emails from email templates Forwarding resumes to hiring managers Taking notes,Moving candidates between stages Connecting candidates who keep applying over and over again and connecting dispositions,6OpenHire reviewOpenHire is used for our recruiting. We source, communicate, and filter our candidates via OpenHire. Additionally, we use the program to do some research and find candidates that previously applied to a different position with the company. It is a nice tool, given that it will also post our openings with other websites (i.e. Indeed, Monster, etc).,Correspondences (e-mails) New applicant notifications Application, resume viewing,Filter of previous candidates Information from archived candidates Templates are not organized. Would be nice to be able to organize templates by recruiter.,7,Faster lead conversion- notifications for all new applicants are received Sourcing of candidates are easier Able to have several recruiters using the system at once,7,Professional services companyOpenHire - Good for Basic NeedsWe utilize OpenHire for all open positions in our organization. It is a great place to store resumes and run basic reports.,Storing Resumes - you always have them in a database and you can go back and review the candidate. Managing Candidates through the hiring process - you can see where the candidate is in the hiring process and have notes tied to each position. Customizing Emails - you can customize emails you send to candidates and have them stored ready to go. Setting up interviews for hiring managers - works with Outlook - takes a few steps however.,Latency Issues - we have continued issues with the system stopping at times or taking a long time to load. Advanced Search - I'm not sure if this is their issue or a user issue on our end. Occasionally this function does not work. Customer Support - they are getting better at responding however we have a dedicated person to support us. Calling 1st thing in the morning before the workday begins is your best bet. If you send them an email it can take days for a response. Platforms with other systems - we have had issues coordinating platforms from various other recruiting tools we use.,5,Latency is a negative impact Going 'paperless' is positive Quick turn around for mass emails Ease of resumes coming in through various job boards and sweeps being done,11,5OpenHire is GreatOpenHire is being used by HR department only. It is being used for applicant tracking (screening resumes, scheduling interviews, completing e-application),Provides easy communication with applicants. You can set up standard emails and connect with many applicants at the same time with only one email send. OpenHire will generate the email and send it to as many applicants as needed. Pre-screening questions. OpenHire allows you to select pre-screening questions and eliminate or select candidates based on the answers and not waiste time on looking on the whole application Customer Service is always easy to connect with,The applicants score is not always accurate. Sometimes applicants who have a low score can still be a good fit for a role.,9,Faster job filled time Productivity on HR doing other tasks.,,9,9OpenHire Worked for MeWe selected OpenHire when looking for an Applicant Tracking System. We wanted to take our manual paper application process and streamline it to an online process. We are a community college with campuses in three different counties. This product allowed us to stop mailing paper applications and resumes to hiring managers that are located in different geographic areas and gain more control and security of our applicant's information.,OpenHire is extremely open to feedback from their users. I have given numerous suggestions for additional features that were eventually implemented and are now included in the product. I liked the integration with job posting sites which saved me a lot of time. I was so excited when that was implemented! The job requisition approval process is great. The approval requests are sent by email so it does not require anyone to log into a system to approve it.,It has been a while since I used this product as a recruiter so it hard for me to comment on this. Some of the items I had wished for may actually be in the system now.,10,This product allowed me to get applications to hiring managers quicker. This product helps with customer service because when an applicant calls I can quickly locate where they are in the process and share that information with them.,10Great product for large companiesOpenHire was used as our Recruitment tool interfacing with our web site to direct potential employees to apply to our job openings.,Provides a seamless entry into OpenHire so that a potential employee doesn't know that they left our web site. Terrific database in storing all of the information we needed to capture for applicants. Great system to keep track of our jobs, what is opened, what is filled, etc. Good system to view applicants for future openings.,The reporting capabilitles were difficult at best, needs to be more user friendly. Too many bells and whistles, tries to everything for every company. Need to have more customizable options.,4,Generally it was a positive impact on ROI. Was able to recruit applicants resulting in positions being filled with good candidates.,,4Great for small/medium businesses! So-so for enterprise.OpenHire is used by the entire company. We use OpenHire in order to track and compare applicants and reduce paper waste.,User-friendly: The GUI of OpenHire is great. Mostly self-explanatory. Multiple ways to get where you want to go. Error-proof. You can go back and fix just about anything.,So much stuff is hard-coded. It would be nice if it were more customizable. The job applicant process is confusing sometimes. A lot of people call support because they can't access their account. OH is a little slow, even on a fast network.,8,Much better than paper apps Provided a way to integrate applicants across multiple concepts and locations Improved communication between the field and corporate employees.,5,Candidate search Viewing resumes Candidate disposition,Reassigning jobs The applicant experience Uncustomizable,8

While OpenHire has some hiccups, it works well for our needs and is very reasonably priced. I would just like to see them improve on their reporting and support.

It was a great solution for the company in all aspects, especially the cost. The company was not in a position to afford a solution such as Oracle PeopleSoft. The only reason we did not renew OpenHire was we got acquired by a much larger organization and started utilizing the tools that the parent company had available.

How many ways can I say that its a solid product and that in the right organization its an outstanding choice. It has a robust reporting tool, it tracks each step of the process and date stamps them so you can manage the flow to see where bottlenecks occur. You can hold people accountable for doing tasks in a timely manner.

As mentioned, all candidates' information are stored in OpenHire so it is easy to source previous candidates if they weren't selected for a position (but still are considered great candidates). It is valuable to us given our main focus of the company (skills related to our business).

We will most likely look around at other systems when our contract is up. Our team is familiar with the system so going through a process of learning another system at this time is not exciting to us. We would like to see what other systems can offer us.

I am no longer in the position I had that used Openhire daily so I would not be the person who would make this decision. I can say that when I was in the position, it definitely met my needs.

About SilkRoad Recruiting

OpenHire is a recruiting management and applicant tracking system acquired by SilkRoad in 2004 and available as a web-based service. Beginning with a focus on automation of HR processes, it now possesses a broader swath of features, including a social recruiting media toolkit facilitating connections with candidates via social networks, allowing them to apply via LinkedIn, career portal creation and branding to suit the needs and image of the company, and reporting dashboards for process analysis. SilkRoad emphasizes tools to help medium to large sized companies manage risks particular to their needs, such as data security and compliance with EEO laws. SilkRoad Technology Inc is a relatively large company, having approximately 350 employees, headquartered in Chicago since 2010.
