The man, the myth, the SketchUp
- I think we designers struggle with how much 3D computer stuff to show and when. SketchUp is a good way to start showing clients forms without going straight to a fully constructed building. this is not quantified in $$$ but rather in merit.
- one positive thing is that it's not expensive compared to Revit. you can produce many things in SketchUp for what, $300 a year?

SketchUp 3D modeling software
- Through 3D modeling using SketchUp, we can create environments in a matter of a few hours and expand our spatial perception of projects. This perception is naturally reflected in professional improvement.
- Projects with more complex topographies can also be better understood with terrain modeling in SketchUp 3D. The implantation, in turn, can be more adequate and rethought in a practical way.
Great for 3D modeling of dams!
- Increased profit.
- Increased productivity.
Quick and easy mockups of real-world buildings and structures
- We use a nonprofit license, which is a mere $39/year. The value received in terms of productivity and confidence in our plans greatly outweighs that.
SketchUp: saved my life with a deadline
- About overall business objectives, I don't find any negative impact with SketchUp.
- I think the investment for SketchUp is worth it.
Great for rough drafting, not so much for real precision layout
- Some of our clients really appreciated that we could quickly make adjustments to proposed projects or mockups.
- That being said, I've definitely spent a lot of time getting lost in the weeds making very small changes because they saw that it was possible, and then we're spending hours we might not have on the job.
Easy to use 3D Modeling software
- We've been able to more effectively design our showroom displays to get exactly what we want without having to spend extra on a skilled cabinetmaker or trim carpenter to design them.
Architecture Live!
- Clients love the fact they can see their building in 3D.
- Less billable time to clients to modify design.

A start-up software to learn and create 3D drawings
- Sometimes it is hard to use only SketchUp to create 3D drawings for complicated structures, and one will eventually source to other design software to complete.
- SketchUp focuses on creating 3D drawings. While as recent software advanced, some design products have already integrated with analysis functions which enable users to do structural analysis on the 3D structure. This means the user would not need to export and import the SketchUp drawings, reducing so much time.
