We use Skilljar as an education portal for software customers as a subscription offering. We have some free content available for all customers and prospects. We also have a separate domain for partners to engage and learn about our products. Skilljar is specifically used for both on demand and live training.
  • Live sessions are easy to manage.
  • Student administration.
  • Great help pages.
  • More analytics without have to purchase data connector.
  • More flexibility on page design without heavy code snippets.
Excellent for customer education and organizing live training session. Easy to upload or link to new content.
Less helpful for internal education where hierarchies are in place.
We are required to report to our customers on the usage of each customer. There is not an easy way to organize these reports.
Sometimes there is confusion in publishing content. It's a lot of boxes to check, then has to be added to pages, etc. Some sort of publishing template might be helpful. I use the same settings for 85% of my content.
  • Positive impact, it has made signups for live training much more automated.
  • Reporting is easier with Skilljar vs. old method, but still could be better.
Docebo - terrible support.
CSOD and Saba - more of an enterprise focus instead of external customers (also terrible CSMs).
Open LMS - not enough features.
SAP Litmos - good feature set.
Skilljar - great product, great sales experience (twice), great implementation experience (twice).

Customer Education are the primary users of the LMS, with a team of 10.

One needs to understand the Skilljar LMS Dashboard (admin portal) in order to be able to support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Subscription-based (paid customers) needing to get certified (Live and on-demand training).
  • Partners getting certified on the our products (sales and service delivery).
  • Prospects learning about our products.
  • I would like to expand our usage of the data that flows to SFDC so we can also possibly generate sales leads.
  • I would like CSM team to look at Skilljar data (in SFDC) to ensure new customers are getting the education they need.
I like what you are using and how we are doing it.
Also, changing systems is a lot of work.

Skilljar replaces Litmos as our external customer facing education tool, as well as new learning portal for partners.

My previous experience at Rapid7 with Skilljar meant I knew it was going to be a good fit.
I would not change much. There are some new players in the market that I might have investigated more, but I am happy with my choice.

  • Setting up SSO with our platform (a lot of work).
  • Group management.
  • User migration.
  • Timing it all to work out well.
Do a good job of preparing your internal teams (IT, Salesforce, etc.) about the work they will have in the process.
