We implemented Skilljar's LMS in February of 2021 to provide self-service training for our customers. Our Academy comprises several catalogs tailored to the needs of Developers, Product Owners/Administrators, and End-Users, offering comprehensive guidance on implementing, utilizing, and optimizing the use of our platform. Skilljar is the solution for effectively scaling our customer onboarding and ongoing education efforts.
Before adopting Skilljar, we relied on weekly webinar training sessions, which, while effective, had limitations. The webinars were not always accessible to customers at their preferred time, and the content was sometimes mismatched where customers were within the onboarding/adoption lifecycle with us.
Skilljar has been essential in overcoming these challenges; it's easy to use, and the support I've received is unparalleled. We average over 1K students monthly and have received fabulous feedback on our content and Skilljar itself. Since launching, I've consulted several customers wanting to start their own LMS, having been inspired by our own Skilljar academy.
  • Self Service and Self Paced user experience
  • Alleviated team bandwidth and improved the scalability of learning content.
  • Easy platform customization without needing coding SME
  • Accessibility features - it would be awesome to have a closed captions tool for video lessons for those who do not have software that does that.
  • Custom Dashboards in Analytics
  • Additional Event extraction options
I believe Skilljar is a great product for anyone looking to implement a Learning Management system that is easy to set up, manage, and scale. While other LMS platforms may have lots of bells and whistles, if you're looking to get set up quickly this is the way to go. We use Skilljar in our Saas business and it's allowed me to manage our educational content fairly easily.

Customization and Out of the Box: Skilljar has a great out-of-the-box theme that's easily customizable for customers who may not know coding or HTML. You can also fully customize your LMS site via CSS or Skilljars pro services.

If you are looking to create a complex LMS reflective of LinkedIn Learning, may not meet your expectations. However, platforms at that level come with a cost. Skilljar is more cost-effective for those starting their LMS journey, and you'd be surprised how far you can go and scale your platform.
The learning curve for Skilljar is not too steep, and I've renewed our contract twice now. I've been able to add additional administrators and get them up to speed on platform functionality within a day. Plus, Skilljar provides awesome resources to help you learn how to use is. The Help Center has articles for almost everything, and when in doubt, their amazing CSMs (like ours, ...) provide exemplary support/advice.
The technical support has been fantastic. They are quick to respond, detailed in their investigation, and provide quality guidance when I need to resolve an issue caused on my end. I also appreciate having live Skilljar Status Updates syncing to Slack - that has been a great help when my CSMs mention an issue they're experiencing - which most of the time is caused by having too many tabs open in their browser. Overall, quality support.
  • Having Skilljar is improving retention—customers who completed recommended training made up 85% of our Q2'23 renewals.
  • Customers who completed the recommended training make up 84% of our healthiest accounts and we've seen a 15% decrease in support ticket volume.
  • Since launching Skilljar, we've seen a 16% increase in active users.

Cost and ease of use for an administrator were the most important to us. The price was within the range we anticipated compared to other LMSs that provide the level of functionality and feature suite we evaluated. The backend admin dashboard was really nice and helped sell the product for us. We also liked that the system was easily configurable and didn't need to spend time customizing UI/UX. When we did want to enhance the look and feel it was pretty easy to do using tips from Skilljars developer center. I'm not a coder, and they made it easy to apply the design updates I wanted.
Skilljar has consistently met or exceeded my expectations, and I've been pleased with their attention to consistent product updates and enhancements based on user feedback. Looking back, I'd recommend including a "product update frequency" as a comparison point.
  • Content updates and management
  • Configuring and customizing catalog page structure and design
  • Identifying popular courses by enrollment or completion
  • Engagement trends at course and lesson levels
  • I honestly haven't had many challenges using the tool.
Yes, but I don't use it
We recently updated all of our content to SCORM files and while our customers are less likely to use the mobile interface, I've tested it and it's pretty nice. Content dynamically fits how I would expect and it's easy to navigate.

We use Skilljar Customer Education Software for customer, partner, and employee training. This includes everything from compliance training to certifications. Our previous LMS was clunky and not user-friendly so it was hard to get users. Skilljar Customer Education Software addresses this as it's a user-friendly platform that has helped increase engagement and decreases turnover.
  • Analytics
  • Great Support
  • User friendly
  • Duplicate/copy catalog pages and learning paths to domains
  • Assigning training option could work better
  • Have the option to be gated (SSO) and non gated on the same domain
Skilljar Customer Education Software has great out-of-the-box reporting/analytics. The ease of use for uploading assets and creating courses is a time saver. I do wish you could have the system email a scheduled report to users without them needing dashboard access or within their training accounts. Skilljar Customer Education Software was easy and quick to set up. This has been an issue in the past with previous providers. All integration is easy to set up and works well.
There are a few minor things that I would change but overall it's a really easy system to use and learn.
Support could be better about answering technical questions. They are quick to answer but seem not to be as technical as other support.
  • Faster Product Adoption
  • Improved Scalability
  • Admin time reduced
Skilljar Customer Education Software is easier to use and can do a lot more in fewer clicks than Cornerstone. Cornerstone was a clunky system with the focus not on learning like their other suites and the UI was not user-friendly. Spent my time on the admin work than I do now and students like the workflow and usability of Skilljar Customer Education Software better.
Yes
Cornerstone On Demand. Skilljar Customer Education Software is a more user-friendly UI for students and admin.

We use Skilljar as an education portal for software customers as a subscription offering. We have some free content available for all customers and prospects. We also have a separate domain for partners to engage and learn about our products. Skilljar is specifically used for both on demand and live training.
  • Live sessions are easy to manage.
  • Student administration.
  • Great help pages.
  • More analytics without have to purchase data connector.
  • More flexibility on page design without heavy code snippets.
Excellent for customer education and organizing live training session. Easy to upload or link to new content.
Less helpful for internal education where hierarchies are in place.
We are required to report to our customers on the usage of each customer. There is not an easy way to organize these reports.
Sometimes there is confusion in publishing content. It's a lot of boxes to check, then has to be added to pages, etc. Some sort of publishing template might be helpful. I use the same settings for 85% of my content.
  • Positive impact, it has made signups for live training much more automated.
  • Reporting is easier with Skilljar vs. old method, but still could be better.
Docebo - terrible support.
CSOD and Saba - more of an enterprise focus instead of external customers (also terrible CSMs).
Open LMS - not enough features.
SAP Litmos - good feature set.
Skilljar - great product, great sales experience (twice), great implementation experience (twice).

One needs to understand the Skilljar LMS Dashboard (admin portal) in order to be able to support and troubleshoot issues.
  • Subscription-based (paid customers) needing to get certified (Live and on-demand training).
  • Partners getting certified on the our products (sales and service delivery).
  • Prospects learning about our products.
  • I would like to expand our usage of the data that flows to SFDC so we can also possibly generate sales leads.
  • I would like CSM team to look at Skilljar data (in SFDC) to ensure new customers are getting the education they need.
I like what you are using and how we are doing it.
Also, changing systems is a lot of work.

My previous experience at Rapid7 with Skilljar meant I knew it was going to be a good fit.
I would not change much. There are some new players in the market that I might have investigated more, but I am happy with my choice.
