Skillsoft Books are well worth the investment!!

Pros

  • It provides most books in audio and eBook options.
  • You can download books for reading offline.
  • There are thousands of books available and they are constantly adding to their list.

Cons

  • Increase the number of books offered in both eBook and audiobook
  • Increase the catalog by creating a section for online articles not just books

Return on Investment

  • We have increased our usage by 300% and helped our employees develop new skills.
  • We have developed an online training program for new managers, those seeking certifications (SHRM, PMP and others) and looking to expand our programs even more.
  • There are so many books (thousands), it can be overwhelming for our employees.

Usability

An expansive learning platform with large scale multi-channel content

Pros

  • Skillport offers a rather extensive range of topics for both personal and professional growth.
  • Skillport lessons are multi-channel and cater to a variety of learning styles.

Cons

  • Skillport's user interface is relatively dated compared to many of its competitors.
  • While the content library is large, much of the content appears to have come from at least 5-10 years ago.

Return on Investment

  • Access to quality educational content for employees to take advantage of and invest back into their work.
  • Technology training at scale - Users can access courses at any time apart from dedicated training sessions.

A useful platform to host a variety of training content

Pros

  • Good capability to host all kinds of training types (PDF, Powerpoint, captivate-created training content, etc.)
  • Gives an easy way for me as an administrator to track completion of the training content through the reporting feature
  • Easy to add and remove users to certain training groups as needed

Cons

  • SCORM compliance compatibility with adobe captivate projects is sometimes difficult to get right. Projects sometime shows as half completed when they should be tracking as fully
  • I would like to see more kinds of reporting templates that can show more specific data to how a user has accessed a training project
  • Not a huge issue, but Skillport does take about 24 hours sometimes to track completion of training content

Return on Investment

  • Positively increased the number of staff taking the required trainings.
  • Positively allows us to have solid numbers on who takes the trainings and when.
  • Positively increased the general knowledge of our staff on workplace subjects through the diversity of training content we are able to host on the platform.
