We use Skype in our organization to get connected at every time and at any place through this software as it helps us a lot in communicating and passing information from one person to another in no time. It is very less time-consuming and easy to use. Through the software, we do calling, chat and share files and images, videos, etc., on a single tip.
  • Through Skype we can communicate very easily globally
  • We can do Chat, Call, Video Call, Screensharing, Media & File sharing at a one tip
  • We can create different groups and can add a large number of people to the same group, which helps in spreading any news to masses
  • Skype need to add different templates which looks more attractive.
As I have experienced Skype and found that it helps us a lot in my professional and personal life. Through Skype, I can communicate with my colleague, clients, family, and friends from anywhere in the world. I can do Audio calls, video calls, screen sharing, and chatting with anyone. It is very remote-friendly software and acquires very less space in your mobile or system. It is user-friendly. I use it to share all the official documents and other files with another person through Skype, and it works very nicely and efficiently while transferring the data.

  • It has lowered our costs in our organization while communicating through the internal team, earlier we use landlines to communicate, but now we use Skype which is cheap in comparison to landlines and other sources.
  • It has saved our time in spreading and communicating with a large number of people, As we can communicate and pass the messages in groups which saves our time and cost.
  • It has saved our bills which were going earlier on landlines.
As WhatsApp Business is not useful as skype because there are certain features which were not as useful as those available on skype. Whatsapp has a file size limit while transferring data, it doesn't have screen sharing which is a big drawback, and cannot be used as a professional tool while working in corporates.

We use Skype to communicate externally with other peer organizations. Notably we have also used Skype to communicate with job applicants in other countries. As a large organization I am sure that other offices are using Skype on campus. Skype fills a void for a reliable face to face communication platform that makes it feel like you are having a casual conversation with others without the need to be present. In a previous role I used Skype's chat or instant messaging features but no longer use that functionality. It worked well when I used it but it is my understanding they have beefed up this functionality.
  • It does video calling very well.
  • You can share files easily over the platform.
  • The chat / instant messaging feature was robust.
  • It's very accessible. Users on many platforms can use it.
  • It is reliable. I have not had issues with uptime or charshing.
  • I think that often people are confused on what usage or functions will cost them money to use.
  • Everyone is concerned about security and safety these days. I don't conduct secret business over Skype but I've heard there may be some concerns about this issue if you are thinking of using it for sensitive information.
  • Chat history gets deleted after a certain point so if keeping years long records is something that you are looking to do consider saving chunks off from time to time.
If you want to be able to communicate quickly and easily for personal or professional reasons Skype is a great solution. It offers the ability to feel like you are in the same place. It also allows you to communicate quickly and concisely if you don't want to bother with a full video and audio setup. I don't think it is well suited for chatting with multiple people at once. The maximum number of people you can get together is 10. We found it much easier to go with Google Hangouts for smaller group calls because it was free and GoToMeeting for larger groups. GoToMeeting also had a fee but was well suited for such environments.

  • My department does not use Skype in a way that would be seen as generating a return on investment but for what the product does it is a good value.
  • It really closes the distance gap in working with offices that are far away. Conference calls can be so soul crushing, this is a much better option.
  • The only negative impact is that it is not the only video conferencing tool that I use. Given that it is not as strong of a multi user platform I can't say that it may cover every need that every office would have.
It's very difficult to compare Skype to the other tools listed above that are in the database. Skype is much more fully featured and easy to use with many users than Google Hangouts or Google Duo. WebEx and GoToMeeting are better conference call style set ups but not really in the same market but do provide some similar services to Skype. Join.me and Cisco Jabber offer some screen sharing and instant messaging features as Skype and are a little better for those purposes. In essence Skype covers so many things that it's just an easy Swiss army knife style of tool.

As we were working with a group of people that are on different systems and have different office formats and in general were diverse it made the most sense to work with a product that didn't force every user to have the same setup. Just about everyone knows what Skype is and it is available on anything from desktops and laptops to iPads, tablets, and phones we didn't have to worry about someone using it from home having an issue or someone traveling not being able to communicate. Most people already have experience with the product so it's not like we have issues when we need to contact a new person with it.
I think we had a really solid selection process. We brainstormed different products for video communications and then did some Google searching as well to see what might exist that we had not heard of. After we got the list together I went out and wrote up a summary of the pros and cons of each one. We met back after that and talked through the prospects and landed on using a mix of Skype, Google Hangouts, and GoToMeeting depending on the situation.

Skype is being used by our organization mostly by myself to have meetings with employees and certifiers of our product that currently cannot come visit our facility due to the coronavirus pandemic. It addresses the problems that the virus has caused with social distancing by allowing us to stay in contact with our employees and the like.
  • User-Friendly Interface
  • Easy to find contacts
  • Call Quality for us is always crisp and clear!
  • The Search function seems to find people that we have no idea who they are
  • Even with notifications turned off, notifications still find a way through for no apparent reason
  • Too many spam emails from bots and random accounts
We find Skype to be well suited in the ease of function. Finding people we need to have meetings with, setting up voice or video chat, and adjusting any settings, such as volume, is very simple and fast. We find Skype to be less appropriate when a voice chat could easily be done just on a regular phone call.

  • Savings in transportation and lodging expenses for us and our business partners
  • Less time wasted getting to meetings during business hours
  • Less human interaction with old school businesses has had more of a negative impact
We find Skype to be more user-friendly than Zoom, possibly because I personally have been using Skype for a lot longer and have become used to its functionality. I also find the video and sound quality to be better than Zoom. On a more personal note, I believe Discord has a better interface for regular messages and voice chats than both Zoom and Skype.

The single most important factor in our decision came down to the fact that almost everyone in our shop that would be using Skype had already had previous knowledge on how to effectively use this software. And as I stated previously, the ease of use made for a simple decision.
If we had to do it again, I would ask all employees which programs or software that each one has had experience with. Off of that, I would gauge that percentage against how easy it would be to teach the employees who had no experience how to use Skype effectively.

Skype is used by almost everyone in the organization. It allows us to communicate with external clients, vendors and partners. We have had good success with Skype being a tool to having virtual meetings. We have had conversations with users around the world. It is a tool that is widely used!

Skype is well suited in scenarios where one needs to speak with someone or a group of people that are in different locations. It works well internationally and across the US. It is less appropriate when users are in the same room, they should simply have a normal conversation in person rather than using Skype.

Skype is a great tool and it is better than the others, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Appear.in because it is widely used around the world. The other applications require new users to sign up and download software, where most people I work with already have Skype and are ready to go and have a meeting!
The overall support with Skype is excellent. I have not had many issues so it seems the support team is fixing issues before new users encounter them. It is best when you do not need to get in touch with the support team and the product works well out of the box as expected.

All business functions use Skype. The marketing team uses it to speak with designers and creatives, the operations team uses it to speak with suppliers and manufacturers. The sales team uses it for interviews and phone screens. Overall the entire organizations use Skype to support any communication needs they have with external parties.
