Smartsheet is an online project management and collaboration tool from Smartsheet.inc in Bellevue, Washington. The software has a characteristic spreadsheet like interface but contains the full panoply of features expected of project management and collaboration software, such as automated alerts, instantaneous updating and sharing across team members, resource management facilitating budgeting and task allocation, nested tasks organized in a hierarchy, a Gantt chart view, the ready production of exportable reports (e.g. Excel), and integration with email. Across spreadsheets cells can be linked allowing the creation of master spreadsheets that provide ready summaries or automated reports. I use Smartsheet very often. Whenever I would have traditionally used Excel, instead I now use Smartsheet as my go-to application whenever I need to make a spreadsheet. The best thing about Smartsheet for me is that it is a collaborative tool. It is veyr nice to be able to leave comments, and make edits on a live document that is shared with my peers.

- 'Live' shared document rather than a static excel that is only a moment in time
- Ability to leave comments and chat with your teammates
- More features. The more Smartsheet can mirror the capabilities of excel the better. Not saying it needs pivot tables but the ability to have more customization would be nice
- a better card / board view would be nice. More features to make it more useful. Or atleast make the board view a standard view rather than 'preview'. Would also be nice if I could set board view as the default view for everyone
- More templates for common business cases for different types of companies would be amazing. Would love some templates for product management

Smartsheet in our company is used as an alternative to typical Spreadsheets because employees can save a lot of time by using automation to collaborate with other employees. Every department that is using Smartsheet replicates their typical manual processes into automation provided by Smartsheet. To create Automation no coding skills are required, so employees feel empowered to create their own solutions and save a lot of time on repetitive tasks.
- Document Builder - e.g. all the contracts are generated automatically with data from Smartsheet.
- Ticketing Systems - using forms we can create tickets that are automatically assigned to preferred people.
- Request for update - if we need to have updated data in some cells but we do not want to share the entire sheet with someone, we can send a form just to update the data in rows.
- The community of Smartsheet is amazing if there are any questions or problems the community is eager to help.
- With the paid license you get access to Smartsheet University.
- Some of the basic functionalities that were part of the business licenses are moved to enterprise licenses, so in our company we can't use them anymore.
- Additional features like Pivot Table etc., need to be purchased extra
- Smartsheet is sometimes bit too pushy to buy new licenses or go to Advanced Model

Smartsheet should be Brilliant Sheet
Currently being used sporadically in place of MS Project. Especially useful for team members not familiar with building a project plan but need to organize and assign task to multiple team members. Our Organization is currently in the process of maturing and while we don’t have the technical skills to develop thorough plans we are moving in that direction and Smartsheet is really intuitive and helpful in that way.

- Maybe a I integration that picks up the type of work plan that has been developed and offers recommendations

Directly, as an Account Manager, I use Smartsheet directly to manage my daily sales operations. I built a dashboard to have important insights about my opportunities, closed deals, products proposed, billing KPIs etc. Also external marketing partners are using it as an input form tool to gather information from customers assisting to events and webinars. It gives visibility of many important insights about our day-to-day in sales/marketing.

- Allows integrations and to get data from Databases, other SaaS such as Salesforce, etc.
- Allows to create custom reports, publish them on the web easily and filter content availble depending on the user looking at the resource.
- Allows comments, file attachments, proofing, reminders and automations all in the same interface.
- Charts, Cards and Dashboard components could be more customizable in the visual aspect. Compared to Power BI features, Smartsheet Dashboards do not look exciting. We need more colors, more charts, possibility to put animated images on background, etc.
- Could have a more friendly interface or module to manage uploaded files in folders instead of row/file attachments.
- Dashboards could have filters that dynamically change all data available on cards as Power BI already does.
Smartsheet has been fundamental to achieve a group task of project management. Without a doubt, I have been able to obtain a great formality in the simple processes; it has given a systematic projection so that all the departments use it to control the procedures of the tasks. Importantly, it specializes in recording spreadsheets, integrating formulas, which allows utility control for people familiar with the primary information of improving spreadsheets.

Automations, Forms, Triggers, yes it is Smart
We presently use it for small dataset where constant updates are needed. The form tool helps in establishing correct format for every entry and automation triggers help in approving the submission or reminding people to update some information at a certain period of time.

- If you have created a workspace, you can't give individual access without providing access to the entire workspace. For e.g., I have two files in my workspace, and I want user ABC to have access to the first file and user XYZ to have access to the second file. I can't do that.
- You cannot attach any item in an automated workflow. The observations go as a table in the body of the email.
- Real time Multi-user edit is a pain for all collaboration tools and Smartsheet is no exception.

Great For Starting Out With Project Management
Smartsheet was used by our human resource and talent acquisition team to track projects within the department. We had experimented with project management options, including spreadsheets, but none filled the bill. The head of the department reviewed and tested a number of possible solutions and landed on Smartsheet as the best option.
- Updates in real time.
- Allows multiple users.
- It's a little "clunky" when you first start out.
- The free version soon can soon rendered "obsolete" but that could be viewed as a positive.

A great way to manage your projects
Smartsheet is being utilized across the organization by using it as a request queue for anyone in the company for website and marketing automation needs. We currently have two different request system processes going for website needs and updates and then a separate request queue for marketing automation needs. For both request queues we have individuals fill out a form detailing their request and then submit it and it allows for the proper team members to pick up the request and work on the task.

Kudos for Cloud Collaboration
It is used by the entire PMO department (~150 employees) for project planning, timelining, resourcing, etc.

Smartsheet for Scheduling Audits
We previously used Smartsheet in our department for the purpose of tracking various security audits. I am aware of other teams still using it, we switched to Teamwork about 8 months ago. Smartsheet allowed our team to track different members progress on their routine security audits and also to store and share summary data files.

We have streamlined and eliminated a number of manual processes over the past few years, and are constantly finding new ways to use the product.

Smartsheet had their lunch eaten
We were using Smartsheet to track tasks and projects in the team. It was also an excellent way to track data and trends, but this whole thing has been eaten up by transitioning to Jira and Office365 suite.

Smartsheet is used quite frequently across all departments in admin levels and offers a wide degree of flexibility with regard to dashboard creation and reporting. I use Smartsheet for a wide variety of projects that are both internally and externally-facing. The platform offers a unique cloud-based tool that allows for cross-team collaboration, file sharing, and data analytics. Smartsheet has been a fantastic tool for tracking, communicating with customers, and making work more efficient.

- Sharing permissions are generous and enable non-paid users the opportunity to collaborate.

Moving to Smartsheet was a smart move!
Our entire product management team is using Smartsheet as way to quickly update other teams on our current projects. It addresses the inconsistency we have had in tracking and reporting on our projects to leadership.

Smartsheet is the Swiss Army Knife of project management
We use it within our Marketing and Events operations to manage nationwide events that we put on. It allows us to coordinate resource management across several teams to make sure our assets are not double booked and are being fully utilizes. It also gives teams outside of our visibility into what events are happening when and where as well as whom they can reach out to for various integrations.
- Visibility across many working groups.
- Control access rights to different documents and create basic approval processes.
- It lacks full spreadsheet capabilities for advanced formulas and conditional formatting, etc.
- It does not have a ton of integration into other programs like Outlook/MS products.

We live and die by Smartsheet
My organization lives and dies by the Smartsheet. We manage multiple comm plans that have stakeholders over admissions, marketing and IT. With stakeholders spread across multiple departments, Smartsheet allows everyone to be on the same page, especially for tracking approved for emails.

Smartsheets is a useful recruiting tool
We used smart sheets for recruiting efforts. While attending the career fair we received lots of resumes and had to somehow keep track of all candidates that came to our table and which ones we wanted to schedule interviews with. After each resume was received, we entered it and all of the info into the smartsheets candidate entry form.

Collaborative Project Management Tool
We use Smartsheet across Project Management, Engineering, and Prototyping teams. We use it to track development projects, resource planning, and to manage projects. It is a unique PM software because it allows simultaneous access of files between multiple people. PM assigns tasks and can request updates through Smartsheet. Task owners provide status updates on their own, creating more efficient communication.

Easy to start with this spreadsheet-like interface software for project management
Smartsheet has been widely used for research project management across different disciplines in my university. As an engineering student, I have been introduced to this software when assisting with managing research projects for PIs. This software makes project management effective through simply aligning project tasks, schedule, and outcome with a clear workflow platform.
- Since it is cloud-based, all project participants are able to view and manage the project scheduling and process in Smartsheet.
- Smartsheet allows import and export Excel sheets. While managing a construction project, Smartsheet provides useful workflow template to do so.
- Smartsheet mobile allows users to view and edit files portable
- While making changes in Smartsheet through the web, it may take a while to save all the changes on file. I guess this can be solved by downloading the software, but since I am using it via a university license, web Smartsheet requires high Internet connection quality.
- It requires license to proceed, and free version of Smartsheet is only valid for limited time, which rarely cover the entire project duration.
Our company is one of the largest in the telecommunications sector. We have more than 20 million users at the country level, we have a history of more than 19 years in the market, and we handle a large amount of information and a fairly large workforce. We use Smartsheet in all the departments that we have, and all of these must interact with each other, sharing the information to improve internal communication and productivity. In order to improve these processes, we use Smarsheet. It has been quite useful because it has allowed us to save time on money in the execution and monitoring of processes, to improve communication, and to increase productivity.

Smartsheet is a smart choice
My department used Smartsheet to create tables and Gantt charts that could be shared externally and internally. Multiple users could view or update the Smartsheet in real-time. It was useful for having a live dashboard status. Different levels of access could be assigned so only the necessary editors could make changes.
- Smartsheet does not require any special software to be able to access or contribute to the sheet.
- It is very easy to manage users.
- Creating the sheet or workbook is extremely easy and the tool will guide you through the setup.
- Works on any operating system.
- Features found in MS Project are not all available within Smartsheet.
- Advanced features are sometimes difficult to understand how to use.
- Not as much printing options as project.
