SmartVault is a versatile solution that has been widely adopted by businesses for securely storing and encrypting sensitive documents and data, safeguarding them from unauthorized access or cyber threats. Users have found it particularly valuable for collaborating on documents and files, as it provides a centralized and organized location where teams can access the latest version, leave comments, and provide feedback directly within the platform. The accessibility of SmartVault from anywhere with an internet connection has proven especially beneficial for remote teams or businesses with multiple locations. Furthermore, integration with popular software platforms, including accounting and CRM software, has streamlined business processes and improved productivity for many users.

SmartVault's high level of security and encryption has helped businesses meet compliance requirements when it comes to storing and sharing sensitive information. This feature has not only instilled confidence among users but also enabled them to securely store, organize, and share files without any technical expertise. For businesses dealing with a large volume of documents, SmartVault offers the ability to store and assemble paperwork in a desired manner, providing much-needed convenience and efficiency.

Additionally, the flexibility to adjust server usage based on storage demand has proven to be a valuable feature for users. It allows them to optimize their storage resources effectively. While SmartVault serves its purpose well for sharing bank documents with accountants or providing employee benefit enrollment documents, some users have noted that its design and user experience prevent it from being a comprehensive solution for the entire accounting process.

In summary, SmartVault has saved users time and money while improving efficiency in handling documents. Its secure platform has become a reliable solution for businesses that require a convenient yet highly secure way to store financial information and interface with other software platforms. From facilitating secure electronic transfer of information to enhancing data sharing with overseas clients, SmartVault has successfully addressed numerous challenges faced by businesses across different industries.

High Pricing: Many users have expressed dissatisfaction with the high pricing of SmartVault, finding it to be too expensive and not cost-effective for smaller businesses or individuals. They state that the pricing structure may not be suitable for everyone due to its costliness.

Poor Customer Support: A significant number of users have reported difficulties in reaching customer support or receiving timely responses, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction. This lack of effective customer support has negatively impacted their experience with SmartVault.

Integration Limitations: Some users have mentioned that SmartVault may not fully integrate with certain platforms or software, limiting its functionality for their specific needs. I utilized Smartvault as a document control feature for our existing clients. Smart Vault then nearly tripled its price for the service. The only notifications of this were some spam emails. Once I found out it was too late. Customer service has been incredibly slow to respond, unhelpful, condescending and unrealistic, requiring several hours of phone calls to get anything answered or changed, I've found. In my view, If I had time to find another service, I would, but at this point, switching would take so much time that I guess we will have to stick it out another year, until things slow down and I can find a replacement. In my opinion, I'd strongly recommend that new users keep looking for something better.
  • Easy navigation
  • Email notifications
  • Document previews
  • Customer service
  • Pricing
  • User interface should be smoother
I would not recommend it.

  • has made sharing documents with large numbers of clients easier
  • has forced us into using their service, or spending time to find a better alternative, in my experience.
  • Speaking personally the product has cost us several thousand dollars over predicted budget costs for a 3-year projection
Sales team was responsive, price was good, functionality was acceptable

SmartVault is used by all employees and clients. There is no alternative with included features presently on the market. We have found zero bugs in five years of use. Initially, there is a steep learning curve. Afterward, it becomes an essential tool that increases efficiency significantly. Support is hard to reach and you cannot call them directly. Also when they were bought out, all support moved overseas. However, we would have preferred to remain with native English speakers.
  • Cloud document storage.
  • Transmission of tax returns to client.
  • They have cut back on support as have many SaaS companies recently.
  • The documentation can sometimes be a little difficult to follow.
SmartVault sends out a cover letter with the tax returns that includes a link for them to download their tax returns, avoiding the insecurity of an email attachment. It does not include a statement retrieval feature but does work very nicely with a third-party app called FileThis. The majority of the users in the office have not been able to install the Outlook plug-in due to "a certificate error." In five years, SmartVault has not addressed this issue.

  • Expensive product but the ROI is still excellent.
  • Can't see how any accounting firm could get by without it.
Our due diligence on this application was a bit week. We read the reviews on its closet competition (Sharefile) but did not actually enter into a trial with them. We would definitely suggest that potential subscribers do so.
Reaching someone is more difficult than it should be. Also, they don't take possession of known issues always suggesting it is a local PC issue in initial conversations. That, of course, can be frustrating for the end-user.
