We built data integration pipelines from S3 to Redshift, DynamoDB to Redshift, MSSQL AWS RDS to Redshift, as well as SQS queue systems. Generally, these were Change Data Capture solutions. In other work, we also moved data from Redshift to external services like sales, HR, and operational systems: Salesforce, SAP, Acqeon, etc. SnapLogic has helped our organization centralize and consolidate our data in a unified way under a single framework.
  • Extract transform load
  • AWS service integration
  • ETL development environment
  • Git integration outside of Github (Bitbucket, and other git service providers)
  • I would like to see an improved way to perform unit testing within the SnapLogic framework, as opposed to the manual approach
  • I would prefer that the underlying source of SnapLogic pipelines be more human-readable, although it is a GUI approach to authoring pipelines
Well suited for incrementally moving data between systems. As for the movement of big data, SnapLogic expects you to delegate this to EMR or some sort of external spark executor, this should be kept in mind for the ETL of large amounts of data; however, working database tables works just fine.
  • Ease of onboarding
  • Snaps for various services make it rather easy to integrate between common services on the market
  • ETL execution visualisation

  • Has allowed us to centralise our data
  • Ease of development of new pipelines between potentially novel systems
Other providers found it difficult to allow us to use their services on our cloud premises (exclusively in our AWS accounts) which we need for compliance. SnapLogic was able to give us this guarantee.
We were given deep support whenever we needed it. Whether on how to use the tool right, or to help track issues.
Yes, because we were building production data integration systems and we felt it would be a good idea to obtain premium support.

Yes.
When we were designing pipelines we co developed a pipeline, and snaplogic enabled us to build this pipeline with best practices in mind.

We use SnapLogic in the engineering department. My team, the data engineering team, is the primary user of SnapLogic. SnapLogic allows us to load in data from all of our external sources into a single source, our datamart, which we then use for business analysis.
  • SnapLogic is great at connecting quickly to an external source.
  • SnapLogic is great at building complex logic into ETL pipelines
  • SnapLogic is great at connecting to many different external sources and bringing the data together into a single source
  • SnapLogic has many UI weaknesses that make working in it daily pretty frustrating
  • SnapLogic has trouble connecting to certain external sources that it has specific snaps for which is frustrating
  • SnapLogic has a hard time abstracting out complex pipelines in order to reuse them without having to copy and paste
SnapLogic is well suited for business analysts or engineers who are looking for a fast and easy way to load in data from external sources. It is not great for real-time updates to large datasets or for large rebuilds of data. It is not great for abstracting out a process that you want to reuse in many different scenarios.
  • Pre built snap packs that allow us to seamlessly connect to third party software and databases
  • Flexible pipeline environment which allows us to do whatever we want with our data and even build out complex business processes

  • SnapLogic has provided us with a fast and reliable way to load in data from many external sources into a single data warehouse. We leverage this data across the company to make key business decisions
SnapLogic was a lot cheaper and does not have as steep of a learning curve

We have data engineers who have experience in developing software and data in order to manage our internal deployment of SnapLogic
  • ETL data into our data warehouse
  • Run our entire billing process
  • Push data into other third party software such as Salesforce
  • We have used SnapLogic to build our entire billing pipeline
  • We are planning on leveraging SnapLogic to integrate more data sources
SnapLogic is amazing value. We are able to do whatever we need to in SnapLogic and it is quick and easy.

Change management was minimal
  • We just needed to deploy a groundplex in our own VPC which was a bit tricky
The groundplex in our VPC is very nice for security reasons and the SnapLogic team was extremely helpful during our implementation
SnapLogic product support is great and the community is good. The documentation could be a bit better, especially free training videos on how to use the product.
No I didn't. We didn't have to. We don't run into too many issues.

No it wasn't.
The onboarding experience was really nice. They were very hands on helping us get our Groundplex set up in our VPC
It is very powerful but has a steep learning curve

It is being used by the integrations team. We extract data from our customers' databases from their servers, transform them so that their Chart of Accounts codes from their data gets recognized within our product, and automates the scheduled job into our platform. It's significantly easier to use an ETL tool to do these actions rather than building our own internal tool to accomplish that.
  • Copying, versioning pipelines.
  • Easy customization of whatever you're trying to achieve.
  • The installation process is vague, and our customers have issues with using Java for security reasons. If they had an install package that could fix that it would be less of an issue.
  • They could make it more convenient to use on the web browser, if I was working on a customer in the Manager I don't want to have to navigate to keep going back to that.
If you have integrations that are complex in terms of the movement of data being from a bunch of different systems and have a lot of different moving parts, it works great. Their support is more hands-off though which is a bit frustrating for installing the SnapLogic groundplex or having any general issues. Once you're all set up, it's an amazing product to use.

  • We've completed complex integrations we couldn't do with Scribe (previous ETL tool).
  • We are able to disable all the solutions when something troubling is happening with our company's platform which is useful.
  • TIBCO Cloud Integration (including BusinessWorks and Scribe)
SnapLogic suits my company's needs better than Scribe because it's a lot less complicated to move data between different systems, and the monitoring aspect is way better. Scribe does have better customer support though, as SnapLogic is a lot more hands-off. Scribe feels easier to use due to its user interface, but it also contains a lot of bugs (like using workarounds to validate a connection where it doesn't work, and do the exact same thing again and it works).
They can be prompt but they have not been as useful as I've wanted. We had a bug that affected many of our customers through an API connection between SnapLogic and our platform. Eventually they were able to figure it out, but it took a long time of negotiating between our engineering team and theirs. Additionally, we installed the SnapLogic groundplex for our customers and we've run into a bunch of problems of connectivity. If SnapLogic offered to be on those calls with our clients to troubleshoot how to fix these problems, I would give them a better grade here.

We use SnapLogic for any kind of report or data automation. Pushing data into a database, or generating scheduled reports.
  • Report Automation! This is a MUST have for any team that wants to send automated reports.
  • Updating metrics that don't come through another solution. If you need to get data into a larger data set, Snap is the best (only?) way to do it cleanly.
  • Simple interface. You don't need to be a developer to learn and understand Snap pipelines.
  • Your underlying data to snap into a different solution (SQL) must be VERY clean, or pipelines break. I expect this, but it would be great if you could adjust columns without breaking a pipeline.
If you need to automate reporting or data moves you HAVE to have SnapLogic. I've built out 2 workflow automation teams and Snap has been integral to both of these teams. It's not suited for completing analytics, but rather for getting data into a place where you can make decisions based on that data.

  • Snap allowed us to have 1-2 fewer analysts per team by automating away repetitive tasks
  • We were able to get data into our data mart at large that allowed us to report on the expected value of our recruiting pipeline
Snaplogic is great for what it is. It's not an all-inclusive solution. You likely don't need a snap license when you have one or two systems, or you don't have a centralized SQL database. Once you have multiple tools and you start automating reports you'll want a license to tie everything together.
I give it a 9 because we have never had to use them. The product is so intuitive and there are plenty of online resources. I'm sure if we reached out to the support would be great, but we've never used it.
