Papertrail is very intuitive to use and very useful when debugging production applications
It's a really good product to monitor your server logs and sends an email alarm to alert you or your team if any anomalies come up in your logs. You could adjust how Papertrail will notice you based on your logs output, so you could make your application output a warning or error log anywhere and Papertrail will make sure whenever it happens, it will come to your attention via email. It's also very useful if you want to know what's happening on your server since it could catch your web server logs as well.

AWS user interface and user experience is not really great, its really hard to trace logs on their console. Papertrail offers so much better user experience for us, its also very easy to setup alarm on Papertrail whenever something's gone wrong. I personally choose Papertrail because it's easy to use, although since default integration with AWS EC2 is not available, we're not using it at the moment.

Mostly is because we have been using Papertrail before when we are using Heroku (we have been migrating to AWS now), and Papertrail is one of the feature we are missing so much since its very easy to use and navigate, we are having a hard time auditing logs with AWS Cloudwatch in the beginning so we decide to forward some of the log entries that we care about to Papertrail
