In the past we had used VMware's VRealize yet this integration into our Orion platform makes it easier to work with plus there is price savings when we moved to VMAN.

Honestly we didn't check in depth other vendors, because we use the entire Solarwinds Eco-system.

What else can be better than VMAN when mostly used Virtualization Vendor got covered
Datadog and Log Monitor are doing great in bringing in new technologies for monitoring, however SolarWinds has still got edges since we are using it [for] many years. By using [it], we know that their product development team was always on top of new technologies monitoring. This assures us whenever there will be any changes in the technology we would have it in SolarWinds - not sure about other vendors. Also SolarWinds integration with other modules make it easier to draw relationship between different parts of the infrastructure such as Network, Database, Servers, and Application.

SolarWinds Virtualization Manager helps buisness go forward
SolarWinds is far superior to the base tools. Every manufacture has a management tool that often has really good benefits to using it, however with VMAN you get a single pane of glass for so much more than just Virtual Machines and or storage. You gain total control of your virtual environment and are able to be the virtual manager you need to be.

Seamless incorporation into the Orion framework. We needed a tool to tell us what was going on with our vSphere environment beyond what vCenter was telling us. There are just 2 of us that manage 40 ESXi hosts on1000 virtual machines and we needed some additional insight. I have some daily & weekly reports sent to my inbox to help keep tabs on things like available disk space and newly created VMs.

Easier out of the box experience saving 100 of man hours configuring checks. Also much friendly UI. But main benefit is the full stack picture it can provide which seems to be forever growing.

VCOPS but SolarWinds is more flexible and a lot cheaper
I have not used any other product, other that the VMware vSphere. So I really cannot comment on how it compares. Like I said earlier it does what we need and it does it quite well

Better performance monitoring. Was able to see bottlenecks in our network that we were able to address. Ability to set thresholds and critical warning
alerts to match our specific business needs and parameters. The predefined reports helped us with metrics to ensure the health of our VMs.

SolarWinds Virtualization Manager Review
If you used these two products, you know the difference. It's too vast to explain here. PRTG does have its place in a network, but SolarWinds is the high bar in this space.
Veeam ONE is a product to compare against SolarWinds Virtualization Manager. Veeam ONE is a solid product, however, SolarWinds Virtualization Manager has multiple product tie-ins for a bigger more complete picture of the total environment it is deployed in. It is hard to put a dollar amount on what complete views into all of your infrastructure can give you, but once you have it, it is hard to go back to anything else.

Virtualization Manager consolidates the views of many environments into one easy-to-use solution
We have trialed almost all of the SolarWinds family of products if they were seen to have a potential positive effect on our environment and ability to find/resolve problems. We are currently using all of the products outlined previously as it gives us an excellent top down view of our entire environment to find/resolve problems.

It has the capability of all monitoring products individually and it is easy to work within the VMware monitoring tool.
