It is well-suited to protect organizations of all sizes from email-borne threats and for regulated organizations where email compliance/standards are important. Not well suited to organizations without knowledgeable IT support in email protocols/security. It would be challenging for them to set up/configure properly. If doing so, I recommend they engage with a partner or Sophos directly for professional services.

The Sophos email solution is a good fit for my organization which is a mid-size resort with 200 users. Sophos email has revealed unwanted emails that were getting through our built in Microsoft email security scanning and policies so having this extra layer was a no brainier. With that we were able to focus on the bad stuff and even tweak our products with this information from Sophos email.

I strongly believe that if you are looking for a product that does what it says on the box and has the capacity to keep your company safe, you should look at Sophos. They have consistently been at the top of their game and continue to provide a product that meets the ever-changing needs of the threat landscape.

Sophos email along with training will provide a great perimeter defense for your email system. It is not a perfect system but it does a really good job at keeping users safe. The console takes a little bit of time to get use to but once you are comfortable with it, it is a very powerful tool.

The price point for this solution is attractive and they are improving it. However, I would be hesitant to recommend it at this time. We have been using this solution for about 2 and half years and for most of that time we have not been overly impressed with it. As I mentioned they are making noticeable improvements.

Sophos email gateway is not suitable as an email gateway product. Support is lackluster, the product is inconsistent in how it handles emails and allows far more malicious emails to be delivered than it should. I would not recommend this product to anyone. We are considering legal action against Sophos for failure to deliver a warrantable product as it relates to the email gateway specifically.

This email protection product can help you especially when you have an email service, such as office 365 or Google. I believe this because we managed to separate email management from antispam management.
Although it is applicable when you have mail on premises, I think it makes more sense to use a local tool there. This will allow you to receive onpremise mail from the start.

It is well suited for all businesses, but in particular any business that may contain or share any sensitive data by adding that extra level of assurance that information will not be shared in clear text by accident. The additional phishing feature allows businesses to set up phishing campaigns internally to train staff on avoiding phishing email and not click on email links.

It's well suited in our environment of multiple email domains. The ability to add banners showing that emails came from outside the organization is extremely helpful to our users. The control of policies and settings is very easy to manage and it has been fairly easy to implement in our Office 365 environment.

I can't think of a scenario where Sophos Email would not be appropriate if you're looking for a solid, well-built, and well-performing spam filter/email gateway.

Overall, we chose and continue to use Sophos Secure Email Gateways due to its effectiveness. I would recommend that existing Sophos users add this as an option in their account, as it is easy to manage for existing users. But, any IT pro who is looking for solid email security, this is a good product to use.

Sophos holds its own with similar vendors for email protection. It has all of the standard features needed, and work well enough. Sophos protects against malware, as well as crypto loaded packages with attachment scanning. Any size company can get involved with Sophos, as they are competitively priced to similar vendors.

If trying to ensure the email is secure from a certain degree of threats like spam, ransomware and even phishing attacks than Sophos Secure Email Gateway is the answer. In our organization, it's been implemented and none of the security incidents related to those attacks that rooted from email is reported. And Sophos Secure Email Gateway has one of the best email encryption methods we found on the market.
