It is not one of the fastest tools around. Having a Python backend doesn't help it either with the speed. For too many logs it gets slow sometimes. So it has an upscaling problem. For correlation among two sources using 'joins' it gets quite slower. Otherwise, for a decent amount of data and sources, it is quite good at upscaling.

We have on prem splunk and it’s mostly east to setup, but we have issues keeping data separated between customer splunk deployments while at the same time only having to look at one SIEM to address events in every environment.

It’s good so far. It has so many features that automate routine work and save so much time and with greater accuracy. Real-time monitoring serves as a greater tool to figure out issues even before it’s informed by the customer. So quicker issue fixes and better performance and security can be achieved.

Splunk ES is very customisable and scalable in its implementation. We use the cloud hosted version but have some locally installed modules for efficiency. We are an international company and have aligned our SIEM solution to Splunk ES. This works very well and though each country is 90% separate, the remaining 10% is shared.

because I experimented with installations with a single server and installations with multi-side clusters and I was able to implement and use ES. The only problem I found, but I understand that's mandatory to have quick response times, it needs very many resources (CPUs, RAMs, and storage).

- 8 out of 10 and took 2 for the data pipeline and administration part. Even if you'd like to improve yourself or your team, you have to pay a lot of money and it could be more than GIAC education + cert.
- Normalization for Data models and CPU-based searches can be a problem sometimes.

It completely fixed our security logging problems to a large extent with its precise alerting and accurate solutions. Previously we had logging issues with traditional firewalls and could use Splunk modules for more research-related works.

The scalability of Splunk Enterprise Security is only limited by an organization's monetary flow. SIEM is always an expensive endeavor and Splunk Enterprise Security runs into the fund wall but technological scalability is fairly straightforward and simple. One note, those who require an on-prem solution are often locked out of more advanced features as the company pushes its cloud-first initiative. This is acceptable as long as you know in advance you will either have to sacrifice features, build them yourself, or move to the cloud.
