Emburse SpringAhead is being used for time and expense, keeping management in a DCAA compliant capacity. Every employee is required to submit a timecard at least every Friday and at most on a daily basis. We have received mediocre feedback on the platform and are currently looking at other options out there to switch to.

Emburse SpringAhead is well suited for a small team that doesn't need a whole lot of customization. If your team is looking for more customization, you should probably look elsewhere, like we are about to do. Since being acquired by Emburse, they raised the prices while not making the product any better. They are actually more expensive than a lot of the competition.

TSheets and SpringAhead are different in a lot of ways, but at the end of the day, you should look for better alternatives to both of their platforms. Both are priced higher than a lot of other alternatives out there that will likely give you a better user interface and more bang for your buck.

SpringAhead has been invaluable in allowing us to track and measure productivity and return on our investment in human resources and talent both within our organization, and as we engage our clients, across their terms. As a SpringAhead user, I've watched the product team at SpringAhead respond with new features and create a solution that simply works and is intuitive and clutter free. Tracking time, projects and ultimately outcomes has been made a lot easier because we use SpringAhead.

It's definitely well suited for all organizations with knowledge workers who use computers to do their work and are able to log in and enter their time on a regular basis. I've always had access to it as part of my job and love using SpringAhead. It may be less appropriate in a role where the worker does not have regular access to a computer to enter their hours digitally.

Springahead is used for tracking hours against our billable and non-billable projects. It allows us to have internal and external resources input their time into one system. Project managers have ability to add tasks to track subtasks within the project with very little intervention It allows our back office team the ability to dump out the data and input it into our payroll system.
  • Allows for tracking of time very easily. Users can add all their project's time in one place instead of drilling into each project.
  • Managers can approve their team's time all in one place. We do not need to drill down to find the info and approve. Users who don't report to the manager but are part of the project can still be approved by the project manager.
  • Reports are easy to read when looking at historical information. Reports can be run with multiple parameters that the user needs.
  • The reporting is not perfect. When I am trying to find history for one person it is very cumbersome to get the info you need.
  • At the current use there is no integration with an expense tracking tool. We had a separate app to track expenses vs. time.
  • Only resources on the project can view time. External customers could not log in to see users' time against the project. Instead they waited for invoices or status reports.
It is an easy time tracking application. It is simple and intuitive enough for any user to add time. Where it falls short is the ability to do more outside the main scope of the application. This is not a failure but just something to think about when evaluating products.
  • Overall the usage of Springahead was very positive since it was easy to use.
  • There was a quick user adoption of the application. We were made very aware of this when we switched off SpringAhead for another app that combined time tracking and expenses into one app.
  • We have noticde a large learning curve with our new app to replace SpringAhead and when comparing the amount of time loss you can see there was a big impact to overall morale.
We selected SpringAhead because of price and usability. This tool is easy to set up and configure. It is a cloud application allowing access from anywhere. There were no training requirements. When you have a small use case this tool is the way to go. We moved off SpringAhead to get more functionality and it has required a lot more training and effort to maintain and utilize.
