  • We were able to sell significantly more on-site tickets
  • Our attendees felt safer giving us their credit card at the the events and so we saw an uptick in on-site sales
  • On-site sales brought in higher revenue so the easier we made that option for attendees the more we brought in

  • I have been able to sell anywhere I am by having it. I can throw it in my purse and be able to take an order for any of my handmade retail products no matter where I am.

  • It has allowed faster processing of transaction and hence more customers can be served.
  • Set up was so easy that employees could do it. Same with troubleshooting.
  • Because the pricing can become a factor as you scale, I had to keep an eye on it.

  • Negative: Honestly, it takes a lot off the top of sales I make, which is challenging for a small business.
  • Positive: it has made setting up invoices quick and simple, especially when they need to be recurring and/or have reminders sent. This has saved me time!
  • Positive: Being able to customise the invoices and receipts is great and adds a personal level to it.

  • The transaction fees and charge rates are much higher than other options available. We only used this system for a short time while we were switching to a MUCH cheaper option (Authorize.Net).
  • I have also used this system with a charity that I volunteer with who only uses it during a couple of fundraisers a year when they have a small gift shop set up to sell donated goods to raise money. For such low volume, the fees aren't as big of a deal and the convenience of being able to take cards no matter where the event is located makes it worth it.
  • This is a system your average consumer will recognize and trust, so there's that.

  • Being able to easily set up a solution for a client saves time and cost and in the particular industry we implemented Square POS, we were able to cut lead time down significantly and training of personnel was also reduced which allowed the client to see an improvement in reporting within 3 months of implementation.
  • However the negative side is that since it is not modular, we were unable to get the same experience in a different industry and thus had to take on the learning curve of another solution. As mentioned if modular options were free or reasonable costs, Square POS would be a winner but this is not the case.

  • We can easily take credit cards online.
  • We can take credit cards in person at fairs as well with the reader.
  • Ease of use.
  • The fact that Square has low fees helps to get a good ROI, the fact that you can get paid instantly from your customer on the spot.

  • Being able to accept multiple types of payment options has allowed us access to a lot more impulse purchasing customers.
  • Being able to offer a variety of payment options means that a lot of the time, these purchases are meant as a show of support, and this allows our followers/customers a lot more ways to help us!
  • I have seen people take cash out, notice that we take Square, and then choose to pay with a card instead, which means that we're then hit with those processing fees— that's a potential downside to the convenience factor.
  • With COVID though, being able to avoid cash altogether has been a HUGE benefit.
