Squarespace has become a go-to platform for small businesses, creative professionals, and marketers looking to build and manage visually appealing websites. With its well-designed templates and extensive availability of designer fonts, Squarespace allows users to create a professional-looking website with ease. Users appreciate the platform's intuitive interface and drag-and-drop functionality, making it accessible for both beginners and design professionals. Squarespace also offers useful tools like Analytics to track website traffic and sales data, as well as an Abandoned Cart feature to follow up with potential customers. Furthermore, Squarespace's integration with payment systems like Stripe and PayPal simplifies the process of setting up e-commerce capabilities on a website. Whether it's showcasing products, maintaining portfolios, or running corporate websites, Squarespace provides a time-saving and cost-effective solution for individuals and businesses alike.

Intuitive Interface: Users have consistently praised Squarespace's intuitive interface, with many stating that it has made website creation and management effortless. Numerous reviewers have mentioned that they can easily navigate through different sections of their websites and perform tasks such as managing portfolios, blog posts, and responding to comments seamlessly. This user-friendly interface has greatly enhanced users' efficiency in managing their websites and engaging with their audience.

Wide Selection of Templates: The extensive collection of beautifully designed templates in Squarespace has received high praise from users. Many reviewers appreciate the wide variety of options available, as well as the frequent addition of new templates. These templates are seen as time-saving features for users with limited design background and coding knowledge. Thanks to the intuitive nature of these templates, users find them extremely easy to work with and customize according to their preferences.

Great Customer Support: Squarespace's customer support has been highly regarded by users for its helpfulness and responsiveness. Reviewers mention that the support team is not only friendly but also goes above and beyond to assist them whenever issues arise. Users appreciate having responsive email replies and live chat options available for support. The excellent customer service provided by Squarespace ensures that users feel supported throughout their website building journey

Cons:

  1. Limited customization options: Users have expressed frustration with the limited customization options in Squarespace, particularly in terms of design and layout. Several users have mentioned that the templates provided by Squarespace can look somewhat generic and lack flexibility for creating more complex websites.

There is a learning curve associated with the software, making it challenging for users to find their way around and access specific functionalities.
  3. Lack of customer support options: Customer service being available only through email has been seen as a drawback by some users. They feel that having additional support channels, such as live chat or phone support, would be beneficial for resolving issues or seeking assistance more efficiently.

Overall, users highly recommend using Squarespace for creating professional-looking websites with minimal effort.

I use Squarespace to manage an online storefront for my wedding planning company. Since I am the owner and only employee I don’t quite need to have other users, but I am aware of the opportunity to expand if I do decide to add team members. Having a website with such great SEO helps me rank better on google and brings me potential new clients.
  • Image alt text optimized for SEO
  • Integrations and opportunities for custom CSS, like my contact form
  • Pushing posts to social media
  • Keeping pages organize but easily found
  • Great templates
  • Easy to add or change pages
  • Cover pages! I’d like to be able to add custom CSS
  • Reminders to publish new content
  • Higher capacity for audio
Perfect for small business owners and perfect for anyone who can’t stand Wordpress’ clunky layout. Mac users will adore Squarespace and its so simple to use and figure out

We use Squarespace to support our company website. I also personally use Squarespace to support multiple websites for side projects.

Our marketing team uses the platform most consistently internally. We had formerly built our site on WordPress, which proved to be too difficult to update and maintain. We switched to Squarespace and haven't regretted it for a second. The website builder is intuitive, but also has advanced customization so our design team is happy and our marketing team can manage it.
  • Intuitive User Interface: Literally anyone can create a website on Squarespace, from the experienced designer to the absolute novice.
  • Customization: While Squarespace manages to be extremely user-friendly, it doesn't do so at the sacrifice of customization. You can still add custom coding if you need to, but it doesn't require coding experience to make a well-designed site.
  • Functionality without hundreds of plugins: Many Squarespace competitors offer expanded functionality through plugins, which can be difficult to work with as they are third party functions that vary in quality. Squarespace has done a great job of adding features to their platform, so plugins are less necessary. They offer many integrations to major services (like Typeform and Stripe), but the experience is much better than sifting through hundreds of plugins.
  • I could see an experienced designer being frustrated by the limitations of Squarespace compared to an open platform like WordPress.
  • Sometimes it's difficult to make quick edits in the website builder because you don't know where the functionality resides. For example, you can make some edits to your nav bar by clicking on the nav bar, but you can make others by going through a series of menus. This is easily resolved by watching the tutorials, but can be frustrating for new users.
Squarespace is best suited for:
- Solopreneurs that need a pretty website fast
- Side projects
- Basic E-Commerce websites
- Anyone who needs to create a one page website quickly
- Marketing teams that lack technical skill, but are required to support the company website internally

Squarespace is least suited for:
- Companies with full design or technical teams that won't benefit from the additional structure Squarespace provides

  • Our Squarespace website has saved us thousands of dollars in our technical development budget, as we were able to build and support our website internally instead of outsourcing the project to an agency.
  • In combination with Hubspot, we've been able to increase our inbound website leads by 150% over the last year.
I think Squarespace is the best all-around website creation tool for non-technical teams. It has levels of customization that competitors like Wix and Leadpages lack, but isn't as flexible as WordPress. Prior to Squarespace, we built out website on WordPress. Since we weren't a particularly technical team, we ran into a lot of challenges making changes to the site, uploading blogs, and navigating the complex world of third-party plug-ins. WordPress is the industry standard, but I think it's a total waste of time for small teams or entrepreneurs to devote their resources to learning WordPress or paying a freelancer to code them a website on WordPress that they'll have difficulty editing and navigating. Ultimately, Squarespace made the most sense with our skillset and time constraints.

  • We use Squarespace to build and support our main company website.
  • We use Squarespace to build and support website for any new offerings or side projects.
  • We have integrated Squarespace with Hubspot Sales to build an excellent inbound marketing engine.
  • We'll continue to use Squarespace for new product offerings and side projects websites.
Unless our website requires significantly more functionality in the future, I can't see us terminating our contract.
Yes
We replaced WordPress with Squarespace, as it is significantly more intuitive and user-friendly.

I've used Squarespace on projects in the past, and actually had fun building websites with it. It's inexpensive, but the product usability for our non-technical team was the most significant factor.
I wouldn't change it.

I am full time freelance graphic designer who often doesn't have the time to work on my own website or personal branding. Squarespace offers a platform where I can easily update my portfolio and blog in order to create a simple landing page for potential clients to review my work. I love how it is easy to customize and how the blog is integrated into the website. While I haven't fully utilized the shop feature, I really appreciate that you can do that as well.

Squarespace is really quite affordable and you don't have to worry about finding a host and uploading your design like I had to do in the past when designing my own website from scratch.
  • Integrated blog with website.
  • No need for additional hosting.
  • Simple to use layouts and customizing without having to deal with any jquery or java, etc.
  • Easy to control and even edit on the go via their app.
  • Sometimes it can be a little difficult to shift things around.
  • There are limits on how many pages you can have depending on the payment tier you have.
  • I'd love to be able to adjust the size of items more easily without it affecting the way other images or items appear on the page.
Squarespace is especially good for the graphic designer or artist who simply doesn't have the time to develop an in-depth website portfolio. Most designers can attest that they are too busy designing for actual clients than polishing their own branding. While most designers would love to have their own built-from-scratch website, it really is a quick way to have a main page to direct clients too.

Squarespace is also fantastic for clients who aren't too web-savvy but want to be able to have some control behind their content.

  • I've been able to land clients that weren't sure about my design skills after they were able to check out my portfolio.
  • The cost is pretty low, so I easily make much more than I invest into the services provided.
Squarespace is much better than other website builders because it is cleaner, more user-intuitive and advanced than other web page building sites. I used to use Wix and I really didn't like it at all. Wordpress can be too difficult to customize for someone who isn't too savvy on technology. Overall, I love Squarespace's simplicity and the ease of being able to adjust layouts and customize.

I've renewed my Squarespace 3 years in a row
Yes
I replaced Wix. Wix was more cumbersome and at the time didn't offer support for a blog that wasn't linked to another website. I love that Squarespace has a blog built into their websites.

Another reason I chose to use Squarespace was because it allowed me to keep all my hosting in one place. I was able to replace having a blog, a hosting site, and domain site and have it all in one location.

The ability to have a blog that was attached was essential for me. I hate having multiple accounts across many platforms so this was integral! Being able to have something so simple to update and create quick content was ideal for me. Prior to that I'd have to link a wordpress or other blog to the website.
I would not change my decision at all! Squarespace has been so simple to use and I love it!
No
Easy to find support on their website.
Yes
Yes, the main bug was with the site crashing on Mac, but that is something they have worked on.
I cannot as I haven't really had to use their support to talk to a person directly. That said, their website has simple to find support and FAQ, as well as troubleshooting. Also, because there are so many users, if you need to get help or support, you can find a quick fix by searching on google for issues others have had.
  • Point and Click style

Yes
It resizes really well without my need to do any script to make it mobile-friendly. I'm personally not a fan of coding so this cuts out so much time for me.
It's simple to use for someone who is really good with computers as well as those who are not. I've been using my personal squarespace for years and have also helped clients build a starting page which they are later able to manage theirselves.

Hip to be Squarespace

I design websites using existing CMS such as Wix, Weebly, WordPress and Squarespace. I primarily work with creative professionals and small businesses who are looking for an affordable solution that is responsive and easy for them to maintain once the design elements are in place. Squarespace is an excellent solution and has become my CMS of choice surpassing Wix which I feel has more flexibility of design but the additional step of formatting for viewing on smartphones and tablets is often overlooked making the site look unprofessional and unfinished. Squarespace addresses this in all of their templates.

Another huge PRO for Squarespace is their guides and tutorials which are thorough and easy to follow as well as the ability to get actual customer support via email, phone or live chat.
  • They offer a variety of responsive templates.
  • Easy and fun to use and maintain.
  • Great documentation and customer support.
  • Affordable.
  • I'd love to see new templates being offered.
  • While I appreciate the responsive design format, there are times I would like the ability to hide content from the mobile/tablet versions.
  • On certain templates there are elements that can not be formatted in the style guide, in particular logo size or placement.
  • Add the scroll lover/zoom function to the eCommerce platform.
  • The Google email add on has been problematic. I do not recommend this to users.
I love Squarespace. While it is not a perfect solution for everyone, it addresses many needs for a variety of businesses. The format lends itself to clean, modern designs, the style guide allows for creative play with colors and fonts, it works well with Mailchimp and the documentation is excellent. The eCommerce is a nice solution but not for everyone as there are limitations of viewing options (scroll over and zoom). Overall a great product that is easy to use, well priced and well supported.

  • It's my primary platform for design, so hugely impactful!
  • Improved client satisfaction, word of mouth referrals and return business.
  • Improved project delivery based on ease of use and documentation.
I find Wix to truly be a blank slate. The templates offered can be modified to give you more control over the finished product but the downside to this is the added step of formatting for responsive viewing. It is often overlooked by clients who want to maintain their site once the design is complete and they become frustrated. That said, I wish there was more control over the responsive elements shown in Squarespace but as a trade off, I choose Squarespace.

Other than Squarespace's customer service, I find the platform easy to use and support on my own.
  • Web design for small businesses and creative professionals.
  • Finishing other people's projects.
  • Updates and training.
  • It works well with a variety of business needs from creative to professional
  • Larger sites up to 100 pages
  • I'd like to work more with the eCommerce platform
It's a great CMS tool. Easy to use and maintain. It looks great and the support is excellent.
