We use Statuspage to show current up-time along with communicating incidents to our customer base.
  • Shows our current up-time across a number of components.
  • Easy to manage an incident and get communication out to our customer base.
  • Ability to look at historical up-time.
  • I wish I had more ways to customize the layout.
  • I wish I could show custom date ranges when looking at historical up-time.
It is a perfect tool for managing up-time and incident communication. It is great for current customers and lets prospects see our level of transparency. It is not well suited for managing individual communication or incidents that impact a few clients.

Statuspage is used by our support and engineering teams to let our customers know of scheduled maintenance windows and unexpected downtime. We love the functionality of posting to Twitter for example and updating our publicly facing status page for the various services and databases. We have also managed to integrate it with Slack to let key stakeholders within our business know of maintenance windows and downtime.
  • Interface is very intuitive and easy to use with very little training.
  • Ability to customize messaging for events and notify before, during and after maintenance.
  • Integrations with app like Twitter and Slack.
  • Ability to automate all our maintenance notifications.
  • If you make a mistake, you need to edit on the various platforms like Twitter manually. I wish it would edit the Tweet or delete it and post a new one.
Statuspage is a very straightforward yet reliable platform for communicating scheduled maintenance and unexpected downtime. We love the ability to automate maintenance windows and customize every aspect of the messaging. While in a situation where we have the degradation of services or downtime, the platform is easy to use, intuitive and reliable. The last thing I want is to spend a lot of time getting a message out, that time is better spent on handling interactions with customers and addressing the issue.

  • We were able to quickly train our entire support team to use this tool in less than 30 minutes, both to schedule maintenance and publish unexpected downtime. The product is so user friendly that it takes very little training to use proficiently.
  • Ease of integrations with existing services and software like Twitter and Slack allow us to reach further with our notification without creating new intake channels for stakeholders.
We found the interface and UX of Statuspage better than the competition we evaluated. We really wanted a tool that was reliable, had solid integrations and was most importantly easy to use. Looking at the various demos we saw when evaluating which tool was best for our teams, the Statuspage one stood out as being the cleanest interface.
Support is very responsive although we haven't had to contact them in a time of emergency, all of our support inquiries were answered in a timely manner and usually resolved with their first response. Support responsiveness played a big role in our decision since if we need help during downtime, we can't really afford to wait.

StatusPage is used by our organization to send internal notifications on degradation or interruption in services. We can update the status of services, components of those services, or entire brands, along with a detailed message of the current status. That event will then be updated at regular intervals, and updates are streamed to subscribers through email, text, or chat channels.
  • Real-time updates on service status and possible impairment
  • Flexibility to customize notifications
  • Flexibility to customize services, or parts of services which may be impaired
  • StatusPage is nice because it keeps a rolling update on the previous statuses, but when it displays in Hipchat it just shows the last update.
StatusPage is well suited for notifications on services and products. If you need to have a passive way to notify users, internal staff, or executives on the status of SaaS services, StatusPage is a low barrier way to do this with minimal setup and maintenance.

StatusPage is not well suited for scenarios in which you want info kept private. If StatusPage is updated, the subscribers to those alerts will be notified so you just want to make sure you're addressing the right audience with updates.

  • StatusPage does not have a specific measurable ROI. We use StatusPage as an ad-hoc notification tool.
I would say StatusPage on its own is a great service. StatusPage for Hipchat can only be used with that specific chat client. But on its own StatusPage can be integrated with many tools, like Slack, email notifications, text notifications, etc.

I don't know of a tool that compares with StatusPage. You could essentially host your own status site with Greed Yellow or Red statuses, but you would be missing out on the robustness of a tool that keeps historical data, uptime, and segregates services based on components.
