StorageCraft is a versatile solution that offers a range of use cases for users. With its ability to back up and restore servers in multiple ways, it provides users with flexibility and peace of mind. According to user feedback, StorageCraft has proven to be one of the best tools on the market for protecting against Ransomware, offering robust security measures that help safeguard critical data.

One standout feature of StorageCraft is its ability to manage multiple sites and agents from a single pane of glass view. This functionality streamlines the management process and eliminates the need for users to navigate between different interfaces. The software's simple structure of sites and policies further enhances usability, reducing manual work significantly and making day-to-day management easier.

In addition to internal use, StorageCraft Cloud Backup is widely used by customers to manage their backups. This demonstrates its effectiveness as a reliable solution that caters to both individual users and businesses. Overall, StorageCraft proves to be a valuable asset for users who prioritize data protection, convenience, and efficiency in their server backup and restoration processes.

Easy and straightforward backup and restoring process: Several users have found the file and folder backup and restoring process to be easy and straightforward. They appreciate the convenience of being able to restore files and folders with versioning, which allows them to retrieve previous versions of their data if needed.

Excellent tools for spinning up virtual machines from bare metal backups: Many reviewers highly value the tools provided by StorageCraft for spinning up virtual machines from bare metal backups. This feature is considered excellent as it enables quick and efficient recovery in case of system failures.

Automated handling of retention and consolidation of backups: The resilience and reliability of the software are praised by users, who note that it automatically handles retention and consolidation of backups. This automated process ensures consistent protection without requiring manual intervention.

Lack of Features and Updates: Multiple users have expressed their dissatisfaction with the file and folder backup side of Gilware's operation, stating that it lacks important features and hasn't been updated since the buyout. These users feel that the software is lacking in terms of functionality and innovation.

Inconvenient Software Interface: According to several reviewers, the file and folder software provided by Gilware is inconvenient to use due to its interface design. Users find it frustrating that the software opens another website through an iframe, making the whole experience clunky and not user-friendly.

Limited Customization Options: Some users have mentioned that customization options within the software are very limited. They express a desire for more flexibility in tailoring the backup process to their specific needs, as they feel restricted by the lack of available options.

We use StorageCraft Cloud Backup both internally and to manage clients' backups. It certainly addresses the need for simplicity MSPs have when managing multiple sites and agents as it provides a single pane of glass view of all sites. Moreover, its simple structure of sites and policies makes management easier and reduces manual work significantly.
  • Resilient, reliable and automatic retention and consolidation
  • Scalable deployment by using sites and policies
  • Easy for level 1 engineers to understand and manage
  • Reporting is not white-labelled and its design has room for improvement
  • No automatic/scheduled virtual boot tests
  • Customization is very limited
StorageCraft Cloud Backup is scalable and easy to deploy and manage the product. In my opinion, it's great for MSPs or for anyone managing multiple sites where keeping standards is a priority. Compared to using ShadowProtect and Image Manager, it requires a lot less manual work to maintain and keep running smoothly.

However options and customization are more restricted so I wouldn't recommend it for non-standard environments, or scenarios where each agent needs a different configuration.
  • Simplicity of deployment
  • Scalability
  • Reliability
  • Reduced manual workload on managing backups by 50% compared to ShadowProtect and Image Manager
  • Increased profitability as its price is very competitive
Before migrating to StorageCraft Cloud Backup, we used ShadowProtect for our organization and for our clients' backups. StorageCraft Cloud Backup is a strong and reliable product that has certainly been delivered when needed. However, moving to StorageCraft Cloud Backup has substantially reduced our workload provided it integrates StorageCraft Cloud Backup, Image Manager, and ShadowControl in one single portal which is easy to understand and manage even by level 1 engineers.

StorageCraft is being resold to my customers. I sell it and manage it. StorageCraft provides tools that not only back up my customers' servers, but also allow me to restore the customer in several different ways. A huge plus of this software is that it provides some of the best protection against Ransomware on the market.
  • Easy file and folder backup and restoring.
  • Easy file and folder restoring with versioning.
  • StorageCraft has great tools that allow you to spin up virtual machines from bare metal backups.
  • After buying Gilware, the file and folder backup side of their operation needs to be updated. It's lacking features and hasn't been touched really since the buyout. Also, it does fit into the main Dashboard very well. It's just an iframe that opens another website. It's very clunky.
  • The file and folder software also needs a re-work. It also hasn't been changed much from the Gilware software. Although it works great, it lacks options, and doesn't provide a lot of info.
  • I really can't think of anything else I dislike about the software or the service. Everything just works for the most part.
StorageCraft is the best, in my opinion, when it comes to back up servers with bare metal images. The image manager for sending those files to the cloud is also great. I would have to say the file and folder option,(formally gilware) still needs work. It's just not as reliable or easy to use.
  • It allows me to providereliable backing to my customers without the headache of constantly tinkering with them.
  • StorageCraft just works. You set it and forget it, which saves time, and time is money
  • They have the packages priced so that small (like myself), medium, and large companies can afford it.
I haven't used many others, but Acronis is one of them. Acronis seemed to break for me very easily, a problem I don't have with StorageCraft. I couldn't find Macrium in the list, but it also has given me issues that I don't have with StorageCraft. StorageCraft, as I said before, just works, and I don't have to worry about my data.
