360 view of data management with Talend
With Talend, almost all the angles of using Data are covered and we are able to create complex integrations satisfying the needs of our clients. Key factors driving the business decision: -Strong user community -Product roadmap and future vision -Strong services expertise -Product functionality and performance. Talend is a really good middleware that plays a key role in hybrid complex scenarios.
- Generated optimized code for building data pipelines.
- Ingested and integrated data from both On-Premises and Cloud environment.
- Created roles for data cleansing, or need to trace data lineage to ensure compliance and integrity.
- Hadoop-related and big data components need to be rewritten and improved by Talend.
- The exception handling is not convenient. You can either let go of the exception or stop the process or use an external controller to resume the applications. But you cannot customize the try-catch block of the exception itself.
- Sometimes you have to use "Ctrl" sometimes "Cmd" is really badly done. In my experience the speed of learning clashes with the consumption of resources and the slowness of the interfaces. An interface made in pure Java requires more time to implement but is definitely more performing.
- Providing a single environment for accessing and collecting all data, no matter where it’s located and no matter how it’s stored – eliminating data silos.
- Future-proofing the data management infrastructure as new data sources and endpoints, along with new technologies, can be added to the data fabric without disrupting existing connections or deployments.

1) Talend offers more than 200 palettes, but most of them are repeated. For Example in Pentaho, we can use a single component ( Microsoft Excel input ) and we can get the data, sheet name, file name, and all other things like using a wildcard, etc. 2. Talend is an open-source tool that makes it easily accessible.

Talend Quality, calidad en todo sentido.
The tool is very effective, to carry out ETL tasks, since it allows from the extraction of information to the preparation of the same, and then with the BI tools to carry out the demonstration in dashboards for decision making. Talend has made my life easier when dealing with junk information and reached such a transformation that allows the added value in the institution.

The engine with which it works to process a lot of information is striking, the comparison also being the connectors it has for different RDBMS, which other tools do not count as they are GNU licenses or community editions. The friendly and intuitive environment is what catches the eye. that's why I choose Talend over any other tool

Talend Review
Talend was used to send Postgres and MongoDB data from on prem servers to AWS cloud on a weekly basis for the integrated analytics.
- Scalability: On month-ends, the volume of the data is twice as much as other weeks, so Talend bandwidth scales well.
- Availability: I have never seen the service interrupted.
- Usability: The graphical user interface of dragging and dropping services is great.
- DB support: It supports all our database connectivity, use Postgres and MongoDB.
- Bugs: Came across some of the bugs in transforming column datatype especially on text.
- Speed: Sometimes, bandwidth fluctuates in the data transfer as identified from logs, but so far so good.
- Connector support: So far have not seen Actian Matrix plugins, could be useful.
- Definitely simplified the development efforts on our end in doing the data integration, saving lots of human hours.
- Small company, so cost could be a problem for these services, but works so far.
- AWS DMS
Have tried AWS Data Migration Services to do this, but found it to be buggy and immature product. Also tried on - prem developed scripts to do the integration but could not scale as we intended.

We have been using Talend products internally and for our client projects for both data quality and integration. Talend DQ is used for data profiling and quality reporting.
- Diverse data profiling analysis types. Talend DQ has a lot of great analysis report available that can be used in profiling.
- Reporting is a relatively fast and has detailed information in visual and numeric representation.
- The drill down capability, when it works, is very useful.
- The print and export functionality are missing in the Community version which frustrates a lot of our clients as well as internal users.
- The learning curve is very steep for all Talend products including DQ.
- Lack of easy to create workflows for jobs that can be repeated.
- None that I can think of.
We have used DQ Analyzer and we like it more than Talend!
