  • It has allowed students to use equipment without the need for a Human reader. This frees up staff for other tasks and the students tend to prefer the Read&Write / Orbitnote app for the customization of the voices.

  • For some of our students with additional needs this has been a game changer. It has allowed them to access learning and produce work that previously they would not have thought possible.
  • By making students more independent, this has supported the classroom teacher to focus on other aspects of learning and not be so essential to a smaller group of students.
  • The use of the tools hasn't been consistent in all our academies, but I believe that if they all adopted the right approach that this would be a very worthwhile return on investment. So it is not the tool but the willingness of the school to engage.

  • Read&Write has had a huge impact on the learning of our pupils as it has increased independence. Pupils were not producing long pieces of writing due to the time it would take to get their ideas onto the page. I have pupils that have significantly increased their output.
  • As a Dyslexia Friendly School, we meet the needs of our pupil's reading and writing. We were recently assessed by the British Dyslexia Association and she was impressed at how the program is being used throughout school.

  • Our adoption of Read&Write & OrbitNote has helped our entire district at least enter assistive technology into a common conversation when we are discussing UDL and Tier 1-3 supports for our students with learning disabilities.
  • I feel that Read&Write's usability has helped to ease some teachers' fears around technology- indirectly supporting students that they are teaching.
  • I feel that our board-wide license is the best implementation factor! All of our staff and students have access to R&W which helps to remove the stigma around assistive technology usage with students with learning disabilities. If their peers are also using technology and even some of the Read&Write tools to complete their school work, our learners who require those assistive tech supports are much more apt to employ those tools!

  • My role is to improve the success rate of students with disabilities and often after I introduce them to the software, i get the "where was this when i was in high school?" comment. Just with that comment i know that it's made a difference in that student's academic life.
  • I believe that the software is directly related to student retention

  • It has been invaluable to us as a school of LD students to be able to provide a wide variety of tools that students can use very easily. It allows our students to be more independent in their learning which is the ultimate goal of any assistive technology tools. Knowing our students have tools that they can continue to use on their own outside of class is super important for us to grow adults with LD who can transition into the workplace knowing what tools are available to them.

  • Building the confidence of students who are able to participate in classroom assignments they would not normally be able to is amazing.
  • It has been great to see the gain of independence in students to complete class work.

  • It is a huge support for learners to be able to access text materials that are beyond their reading ability. It allows everyone to be included.
  • There is a motivation factor to engage learners to encourage students to attempt to complete work.
  • The OrbitNote tool's continued evolution will make it more complete to use on an iPad.
  • Read&Write on the iPad is a more functional wordprocessor which allows us to use it as a more supportive option for learners.

  • The most at risk students are now able to have more equitable access to school

  • All staff and students have access to Read&Write and are able to explore the tools with ease.
  • Related service providers and teachers explore the specialized tools and provide trial periods with tools they are already familiar with as part of an AT assessment.
  • Read&Write supports teacher to continue to work smarter (rather than harder) because Read&Write support tools are available on whichever platform the teacher utilizes to distribute assignments to students rather than converting their documents to a specific format.
