The City is a church management and communication software that is used as a social media platform and a small group platform. Its all-in-one spot that is secure for members only, gathers birth announcements, prayer requests, and more, making it an essential tool for church communities to stay connected. The software solves the business problem of keeping everyone in the congregation informed and up-to-date with each other without the need to monitor different forums or listservs.

Users appreciate how easy it is to communicate through The City's built-in messaging system, which allows them to send group messages and events, making it easy to plan activities or volunteer positions. Additionally, users can use the online giving feature to donate safely and securely; this makes telling someone where to give to the church easier. By providing congregants with a platform that incorporates communication, donation tracking, group messaging and events organization, The City solves several business problems around connecting people within the church community effectively. Finally, internal communication among congregants made via the software ensures that everyone is always informed about the information shared.

Community Building: Many users appreciated the ability of The City to connect them with other members of their church, especially those they hadn't met before. They found it to be a great platform for building community naturally.

Communication: Several users praised the interactive features of The City, such as the ability to quickly send messages to a large number of people. They thought it was a great way to share information and improve communication.

All-in-one Solution: A common sentiment among users was that The City gave them an all-in-one solution for handling small groups, church communication, kids' ministry registration, giving, and more. They found it convenient that all this could be done through one platform that connected church members with church leaders.

Outdated Interface: Several users have reported finding the user interface of The City to be clunky and outdated, which has made it difficult for them to navigate through the pages. This issue has been mentioned by a significant number of reviewers.

Limited Features: Some users felt that The City did not have enough features needed for a social platform, and they found it costly. They expressed their concerns about the cost-to-feature ratio in their reviews, stating that they expected more functions from this software.

Difficulty in Uploading Files: A few users had difficulties uploading photos or documents on The City's platform. They found the software not very user-friendly and struggled with its login process as well.

Users have made several recommendations based on their experiences with The City.

One common recommendation is to set up and moderate The City to make it a fantastic tool. Users believe that with the right management, The City can become a valuable resource for communication and community engagement.

Another recommendation is to consider trying The City if already using ACS (Automated Church Systems). Users praise the wide range of communication and community engagement tools provided by The City, which they find beneficial for their church activities.

Additionally, users advise potential users to check the price and compare it with free social media features. They suggest evaluating both options, such as Facebook pages and groups, to determine the best fit for their budget and specific needs.

Overall, these recommendations highlight the importance of proper setup and management, considering existing software integrations, and assessing pricing to ensure that The City is a suitable solution for each church's requirements.

The church I belonged to used The City app for every member of the congregation. It provided all of us the ability to connect with other members, find and join groups, and keep track of events. It certainly made it easier to access church information, which can often prove challenging when joining a new church.
  • View volunteering opportunities
  • Find and join groups
  • Submit prayer requests and join others in prayer
  • Connect with other members
  • Seems the developer no longer supports the app
  • User interface is difficult to navigate
  • Often forces a sign out, thereby requiring you to sign in again
  • Cumbersome search features
The City would work well for a church who struggles to provide an easy way for members to connect and join groups. While the app has some drawbacks, as noted above, it beats allowing visitors and members to remain disconnected and in the dark about ways to involve themselves in church activities. Better to have this kind of ability to connect than none at all.
  • The City has made it easier to connect with people I met at church.
  • It makes it simple to submit a prayer request and join others in prayer.
  • It shows opportunities to get involved.
While I haven't used another social networking app built for churches, I have used an app built by another local church. The City makes connecting with members easier. The user experience is severely lacking in The City app. It does, however, facilitate connections between members.
