The product is used to estimate in a systematic manner new construction and larger remodel projects for our organization. It also allows us to manage the job, post construction by having detailed budgets for our projects that are broken out in bite size pieces for us to handle. The main use case is for new construction however.
  • Material estimating
  • Labor estimating
  • Aggregating vendor quotes
  • Budgeting estimated Gross Margin for a job
  • The user interface for adding assemblies to a job
  • Material database management
  • Doesn't integrate well with any other platforms other than their own.
We use Trimble Accubid to do detailed cost estimates for larger jobs. If a job has a set of blueprints, the software is designed to go through each page systematically to aggregate a bid. Where it is less appropriate are for smaller service jobs. It takes a lot of setup for a new job there are other solutions better suited for service work.
  • reduced estimating cost vs pen and paper
  • because it's a widely used platform it's easy to recruit estimators to the platform
  • works well in a multi estimator environment

Trimble Accubid is currently being used by our organization as our primary bidding software. It is a database for pricing and winning bids for new jobs. It helps our clients get the best prices and our company to maintain a sustainable and successful project while delivering on our cornerstones of reliable insights, outcomes, and resources.
  • Depth of customization
  • Intergrations
  • Industry specific
  • High barrier to entry
  • Low ease of use / Time-consuming
Trimble Accubid is incredible for when you need to take your time and get a bid out for a job. It allows you to create templates and reuse a lot of information for future work. However, sometimes for a smaller job, it can be a lot of information to enter, which becomes time-consuming when on short time frames.
  • After completing a lot of training, this software can easily allow a lower-skilled employee to set everything up for review.
  • Reduced time for bid reviews as key indicators are easy to review
  • Ability to review old bids to ensure project delivery
I was not involved in the decision-making process to purchase Accubid.
The training packets are thorough and they are easy to understand. Live support is harder to come by, however, I haven't had any major problems that I have needed to overcome. The best support is not needing to have support in the first place. Ease of use makes this mostly not an issue.

Trimble Accubid is used by our organization as an electrical estimating software. Accubid is the premiere electrical estimating software in the electrical construction industry for commercial and industrial electrical contractors.

Accubid electrical estimating software addresses the ever present need to provide cost accurate estimates for a wide array of electrical projects in a simple and intuitive estimating platform.
  • Provides accurate NECA labor units for materials.
  • Keeps accurate costs of materials through regular updates.
  • Needs to update a data base for new emerging markets in energy.
  • Separation of some supporting materials into more relevant categories would eliminate number of required click through actions.
For a commercial or industrial electrical contractor, Accubid is the go-to solution. Having experienced multiple estimating platforms, Accubid is the least cumbersome and easiest to navigate.

Accubid is too large and pricey for a small commercial or residential contractor and would likely be cost prohibitive to a contractor working in these areas.
  • Accubid allows for accurate pricing of electrical estimates.
  • Accubid's accurate pricing allows for more competitive bid estimates.
McCormick is an accurate estimating solution, but is far too bulky too compete with Accubid. Pricing reports and breakout options in Accubid are far superior to McCormick. McCormick's on-screen take off may be a benefit to some, but not worth the trade off of Accubid's robust suite.

ViewPoint is a small contractor solution that cannot compete on the scale of Accubid.
Accubid support gets a high rating for ability to solve issues when they arise. Accubid's rating could increase if they employed more staff to eliminate wait times once a trouble ticket is submitted. Bugs in Accubid software are rare, and usually promptly addressed by their engineering teams.

I use Accubid to help organize and produce electrical estimates for our company. While the options and granularity can appear overwhelming, they offer a lot of control and ways to analyze our costs. The learning curve can take a moment to overcome, but once you do, the tools given help produce estimates that allow me to feel more confident. That being said, there are still some tools that I feel are missing.
  • Allows for fine control of inputs and variables.
  • Gives a multitude of ways to analyze data.
  • While the tools provided are great, there could be more to allow more imaginative users to build their own.
  • The user interface is old and clunky.
There are a lot of variables that need to be "built" and kept track of independently of one another in an estimate. Accubid gives me the tools to do as much. I can break out certain scopes of work apart from others, modify those specifically, and view the costs, material, labor, etc. associated with them.
  • Helps produce more accurate estimates.
  • Allows us to break scopes out without having to re-perform an estimate.
Accubid can sometimes fall short when it comes to CS. The correct departments aren't always properly delineated, making it difficult to get ahold of the individual most appropriate for your issue. To that end, it has been outsourced to people with accents sometimes difficult to understand. This is my biggest critique.
