HR questions, payroll, and insurance across the whole organization. TriNet addresses those three things.
  • Communication for questions I have, specifically on an administrative level.
  • The variety and choice of health insurance.
  • The website platform is informative and useful.
  • Maybe on the website it would be helpful for the employee to be able to know who to contact, and for what, right away instead of trying to search for it
  • The pop-ups for reports, and when I go to other pages, I don't love.
It's perfect for not having in house HR and getting better insurance rates, although it's still a little pricey.
Every one of the people I contact is very on top of questions I email them about.
It looks good and it's easy to see everything. My only thing is the constant popping up and opening of another window. I also do wish I could input I-9 information before they start.

  • Ease of payroll entry.
  • Giving us insurance choices.
  • Giving us knowledge on HR that no one had prior.
They have tried to make the federal FFCRA payments workable with their system.
Three years ago, when I switched, TriNet was better because it had a better, easier website, more insurance choices, and it was a little bit cheaper at the time.

I'm usually the only person dealing with trinet. The employees use the general employee contact for personal matters when it comes to their benefits, but I'm the one dealing with the payroll and the implementation of informatoin
  • Payroll organization
  • Health Insurance
  • Human Resource direction and advice
  • The marketplace
  • The commuter benefits Wage Works
  • The PTO accounting and implementation and how automatic everything is
  • HR things, like immigration and maternity leave
  • financial tracking when it comes to salaries
  • I can't think of anything else
the customer service has served me well. Also, it's way too hard to switch information
Yes
ADP TotalSource, becaues Trinet courted us and gave us better savings
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
it saved us per employee on price, and also the choice in health insurance
I would have negotiated maybe a better price per person rate? Now that we've grown, it's become a bit pricey
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
It was three years ago, so I don't recall
  • Just getting all the right data in place
It was long and difficult, but it was done
  • Online training
  • in-person training
it's been awhile, but I recall them being helpful. I got through a lot of it and when I needed help, they can walk me through it over the phone. It's also pretty user friendly in general at a platform. I don't really know what else to type, but they came and helped me in person and also when there was something new, they came and talked to me. They have not done that since with the new model that I hate.
it was good, but now I haven't done much and since they changed their model, it's a lot harder to deal with. We're talking online training of the trinet platform and not the online training they provide, right? Their online training is ok, and is unfortunate that there is a totally separate model for training that costs extra when we would only watch one or two things. However, the mandatory sexual harassment training is actually pretty good, it was just a little clunky
It's not too complex, though it's a little extensive with things I don't use and can be simplified. Like there are dropdowns for information, and I'd prefer dropdowns for active things
no
No - there is no facility to customize the interface
No - the product does not support adding custom code
I have customized some reports, but that's it
No
I think I already pay enough, but I also haven't had the need to pay for the premium support, or I don't see the of cost-benefit
Yes
I don't know if it was resolved. The site was showing me a weird warning when there was
no warning and I was told IT would fix it.
Nichol Dark has helped immensely when it comes to my first maternity leave. I have yet to have an employee go through it, so my first one, she guided me throughout the whole way
  • they payroll system is easy
  • looking at PTO balances is easy
  • The general platform on the employee side is simple with the pie charts
  • I don't like how another window opens for certain things like Reports and Payroll
  • When I enter PTO, I would like to see the balance after I in put the PTO taken. RIght now if someone has 10 hours PTO, and I remove 6, there is a little number that shows up below it that still says 10. I would like it to minus out the amount that I just put in, so you can see how much PTO they really have left.
  • I don't like how I can't delete an employee that never started. I've had to do this twice and they both show up in the system even though they have never come into work nor have I paid them anything
  • I would also like the billing from Trinet to be a bit more transparent. I'm not getting a detailed invoice on YOUR charges.
Yes
I don't use it
The website is pretty good, but it's not personal and requires me to contact trinet.
They used to be really good at this when I had a dedicated person. Now that it's a general customer service account, it's really gone downhill and I don't get responses at all sometimes
Pages load at a speed that isn't too fast or too slow. I never have to wait long, but it's not instantaneous
  • Quickbooks
I guess it's pretty easy, it's just for payroll. There's nothing else that we integrate it with, though

I wish their health insurance got better as it's gone up, I know that it does that, but their whole thing was that since they were a larger network, we could get cheaper insurance than if we did it ourselves and that's not proving to be true

We use TriNet to handle payroll and human resources. We use it across our U.S. based company. It helps that TriNet has coverage over the entire country.
  • TriNet has a great support staff on their 800 number.
  • The account reps are very accessible.
  • TriNet offers workshops for HR managers to attend.
  • TriNet sometimes does not have all the functionality that are needed like OSHA.
I think that TriNet is great for smaller businesses. The website is very useful.
Very good customer service.
I have worked with larger companies and companies that are in the same size, but TriNet stands out with its excellent customer service. The website is very useful.

  • Organization may have used TriNet to improve payroll accuracy, to stay within HR compliance and to reduce the time HR spent on administrative tasks
ADP is terrible for small business. They send you mountains of paper and have very little, if any customer service. Trying to get someone on the phone with them is virtually impossible.

Our organization uses TriNet for all our Payroll, Taxes, Worker Comp, Compliance, Unemployment, HR expertise, Accounting reports, and etc. We use TriNet Hire for advertising our job positing and reviewing of applications.
  • Handles payroll and all deductions
  • Workers Compensation issues
  • HR expertise available on call
  • We would like to use the TriNet Expense program but it is not set up for our banking intuition so it is not usable in it current programming. A ticket has been opened for several months with no feedback from the programmer.
  • Unable to reconcile vacation times and sick times for our employees. For several months I have been working with our Payroll Clerk, she submit the changes to another department , who still has not made the correct adjusts to our employees time. Our new hires are not prorated for their sick time and find it impossible to get them adjust. Maybe it would just be easier if we could make changes to the balances.
  • In TriNet Hire, it is impossible to print the answers from the application questionnaires so that they can be provided to the interview panels. Currently I have to cut and paste all answers to a Word document in order to capture the responses. We would also like to be able to change the questions for each application so that each reviewers are able to score applicants in specific areas. Additionally, we would like to able to print out reviews comments for each applicants. Not all of our interview panelists are employees, we often use community leaders and experts in our hiring process.
We have had a high turn over of staff within our organization due to restructuring and attrition. The HR departments has assisted our organization with this transition of hiring, firing, and laying off of 11 employees in the last year, which is half our staff. Quanda has been of invaluable help with her expertise and taking the time to thoroughly vet issues with me so that I can assist with the CEO making HR decisions.
The menu driven website lets employees access their information. The mobile app lets employees access their information from basically anywhere. The on-boarding of our new employees is easy and done quickly, the same with terminating an employee.
Other than getting adjusted to the new website format, it has been relatively easy to use.

  • Reduced the time HR spent on administrative tasks especially the management of benefits and open enrollment.
  • TriNet Hire posts to the different job sites which saves time and gets a wider posting through a several sites. Having the applicants all in one place is awesome.
A part of why we chose TriNet was the technology. Our employees are more willing to use the user friendly website to access data and provide updated information. The interface with QuickBooks makes it easy for our accountant to ingrate the data into our books. The open enrollment was made easy for our employees by providing them the means to narrow down their selections based on the needs of their family and have a wide selection of coverage available.

We replaced ADP because they were not keeping up with technology and there internal communications was poor. I.E. payroll not communicating with 401K. Additionally we were looking in pull together our employee benefits into one single source.

Since we are a nonprofit the bottle line in cost play a major factor. TriNet offered a special package for nonprofits. We were also looking for new technical advances. One key point was the app for smart phones.
We are very through in our evaluations and our selection process. We also had the help of a broker from HUB International.

We worked through the transition step-by-step with TriNet professionals. I found it was much smoother than past experiences.
Change management was minimal
I found that taking it step-by-step much more organized. Completing much of the set up be hide the scenes prior to rolling it out made it much easier on the employees.
  • None that I can remember.
Being organized and setting up as much as possible prior to the release to the employees made a real difference.
  • Online training
  • In-person training
  • Self-taught
We had a few in-person training on site. One was on the basic use of the website and mobile app. The second was on the 401k program.
I have taken the webinars offered but employees do not.
When changing PEO I highly recommend initial training for the entire staff. It is overwhelming to employees when changing PEO. It help easy the transition.
The new webpage is easy to understand and find what you are looking for.

The next years holidays show January 2nd as a holiday. I reported it two weeks ago and have yet to see the website updated.

Jessica Strauss is always my go to for payroll issues. She has helped with help adjusting our employees paid time off (vacation and sick). Everytime we get a new employee, they onboarding with the incorrect balance and Jessica and I have to keep submitting the adjustments to another department to have it corrected.

Whether it is helping with bonuses, pay increases, or simply payroll issues, I know I can count on Jessica.

  • On-boarding and terminating is simple.
  • Open enrollment is easy to use and employees really like the wizard to find the best fit.
  • Payroll increases are simple.
  • When fixing an employees paid time off is difficult and has to be submitted numerous time before the balance is corrected.
  • The TriNet Expense has been difficult to set up, and build and understand the flow.
  • The TriNet Hire program does not save the questions used to evaluate for different positions. There is also no way to print information, i.e. applicants replies to questions, hiring teams comments,. Also the carry over of names from position to position for applicants is difficult to decipher.
Yes
Love the mobile interface. It makes it conveyance for employees to have the access to benefit information. It is nice to be able to pull up a paystub on the fly. Also, that employees can check their balances, and request and approve time off request.
Since the fees are based on employee count, it changes month to month.
TriNet is available when I need it the majority of the time. I did run into an HR issue that I needed HR advice on an employee issue that had arouse was after normal hours.
It integrate easily into Quickbooks.
  • Our credit card processor
I had to work through the TriNet Cloud help desk. The request had to be sent to the programs of the program. It took some time to hear back from the programs but Anthony DePriest followed up on the request until we had the programming resolved.

  • I would like to integrate our expenses into TriNet Expense program
It was be internal accounting staff.
  • File import/export
It has been difficult to customize the expense programming to fit our needs.

Our Rep was helpful and provided additional information that was useful, like a print out our benefits and cost so we could do a cost analysis.
Although the sale rep left after our integration, Megan Taylor the regional sales person has been happy to assist me with any questions or etc.
We were able to decrease the cost of benefits the first year to help with the employees transition into a new benefits plan. Also, having a program package for nonprofits.
Meeting Megan while working with the local sale rep made it easier for me to reach out to her after our sale rep left the company.
