We are currently using VMTurbo Operations Manager to analyze resource usage and follow possible load balancing recommendations based on current and past trends. It is also being utilized to automatically vmotion servers across ESXi hosts for load balancing. It is only being used by our Infrastructure team.
  • It provides comprehensive historical data.
  • Great tool to vmotion VMs based on your configured specifications.
  • It allows you to model possible increase or decrease of resources and see what the impact would be to your environment.
  • So far I have not encountered functionality that I would need and it's not implemented.
I think VMTurbo Operations Manager is an overall useful tool, in any scenario.
  • It allows us to quickly and efficiently identify possible problem sources.

It's nice to have VMTurbo Operations Manager; it is helping us with expanding our environment with existing unused resources.
  • Suggests if resources are not being efficiently and should be reduced wherever required.
  • Takes action based on defined rules rather just reporting an alert.
  • Effective Reporting.
  • Doing good so far, I do not have anything that I can suggest at this moment.
VMTurbo Operations Manager is well suited where you want to know if an environment is up to its appropriate utilization.
  • Help identifying and can utilize unused resources.
It takes action rather just reporting as alert.

  • Based on the defined VM templates we were able to see the snapshot of available capacity.
  • Many of the servers resources under utilized and VMTurbo could report those to revoke unused resources and increase capacity
  • Reporting is the key information provider for management and give high level view resources being used.
  • Before VMTurbo, no reporting of Hardware infrastructure.
  • Were able to use available resources efficiently
  • Can manage many options from single console.
  • Optimum usage of available resources.
  • Will help defining IT strategies and IT budgeting.
  • Can automate action to save unused resources.

We are currently utilizing VMTurbo Operations Manager primarily in balancing our mission critical VMware clusters. It is able to evenly distribute the workload among our ESX hosts better than DRS.
  • VMTurbo is constantly watching the clusters and their hosts, therefore it is able to balance resources allowing our administrators to perform other tasks.
  • VMTurbo also allows us to make predictions on how many more virtual machines we can add to certain clusters based on available resources and trends.
  • Some of the prediction tools are quite complicated to configure. I think the process could be simplified however I'm sure some of the complexity is due to the thoroughness.
Its best suited if you find yourself in a predicament where the environment resource requirements change quickly and DRS has difficulty keeping things in check.
  • Its our eyes on the important resources when we are busy working other projects. It has helped keep performance, especially our VDI environment, running well without much administrative intervention.

  • Projections based off of trends of how many more virtual machines can be added
  • When is it time to add a host or storage to your environment
  • Allowing our customers to view their environment's resources
It is doing what we need at the current and with more experience, we will be able to leverage its full capacity.

We tested the product in our environment and watched it boost performance and balance our environment very well.
I'm not sure I would change it. I know how much hum intervention we had prior to testing VMTurbo and this has reduced tremendously where it allows our administrators to do what they are suited for instead of balancing clusters.

It is easy to initially configure and get it integrated. To fully utilize the tool, you need a better understanding of the system and how to configure.
