Ubiquiti WLAN is a versatile solution that has been widely used in various industries to address the need for reliable and cost-effective wireless network solutions. Organizations, both internally and externally, have turned to Ubiquiti WLAN to provide enterprise-level WiFi coverage while keeping costs in check. The cloud-based Unifi network controller has proven invaluable in allowing users to easily monitor, configure, and manage WLANs from a centralized location. This remote management capability enables quick response times to support requests and the ability to identify potential issues promptly.

One particular group that highly values Ubiquiti WLAN is managed service providers. They appreciate the multi-tenant management controller feature, which streamlines operations by allowing them to manage multiple WLANs for different clients from a single interface. In addition, Ubiquiti AirMax WLAN devices have been instrumental in connecting remote buildings on client networks, especially when existing WiFi coverage is inadequate or running fiber optics cables is not feasible. These devices offer stable connections, internal roaming, and easy network management through an intuitive control panel.

The versatility of Ubiquiti WLAN extends to various sectors such as education and business. In schools, offices, and remote sites, it has proven to be a reliable tool for providing seamless WiFi connectivity. Moreover, organizations with multiple branches favor Ubiquiti WLAN as it allows them to establish a unified wireless network across all their locations. The centralized controller not only facilitates remote changes but also ensures robust WiFi coverage throughout the entire network. With features like seamless handover, support for multiple SSIDs, guest networks, and VLANs, Ubiquiti access points offer a comprehensive solution for building a reliable WiFi infrastructure.

Furthermore, the flexibility and ease of deployment make Ubiquiti WLAN an ideal choice for connecting two buildings without the need for trenching or disrupting existing structures like parking lots. Customers appreciate the enterprise-ready features of Ubiquiti WLAN along with its user-friendly management capabilities.

Overall, Ubiquiti WLAN has gained popularity for its ability to provide reliable and cost-effective wireless network solutions to a wide range of industries. Its cloud-based management, stability, and easy deployment make it an attractive choice for organizations seeking efficient WiFi connectivity across multiple locations while keeping costs manageable.

Easy to set up and deploy: Many users have found Ubiquti WLAN to be incredibly easy to set up, allowing for fast deployment of their wireless networks. The intuitive interface and straightforward installation process have been praised by several reviewers.

Timely firmware updates and bug fixes: Users consistently appreciate the frequent firmware updates provided by Ubiquti WLAN. This ensures that their systems stay up-to-date with the latest features and security patches. Additionally, the prompt resolution of any reported bugs further enhances the overall user experience.

Enterprise-level features at consumer price points: One of the standout advantages of Ubiquti WLAN is its ability to offer enterprise-level features at affordable consumer price points. This allows small businesses and individuals to access advanced functionalities without breaking the bank. Several users have expressed their satisfaction with this cost-effective solution.

Difficult Remote Monitoring: Some users have expressed difficulty in linking the product to their mobile device and monitoring it remotely. They find the process challenging and would like it to be as easy as setting up remote portal access.

Limited Connectivity: Several reviewers have mentioned that they can only view the product's features when connected to the onsite network, which seems counterintuitive. This limitation restricts their ability to monitor and manage the product remotely, causing inconvenience.

Complex Device Adoption: Users have reported slow device adoption and difficulties in resetting or adding new devices to the existing environment. These challenges result in delays during deployment and frustration among users.

  • Ubiquti WLAN is very easy on setup for fast deployment.
  • The monitoring software is offered at different level. Cloudkey, or just throwing up their free controller on a PC somewhere.
  • It also does a great job of publishing timely updates to firmware, and addressing bug issues.
  • The ease of the interface, without adding a bunch of fluff, makes this literally the best out there in my opinion.
  • The reporting of alerts needs to have the same ease as setting up the remote portal access.
  • I really wish that I could link it easier to my mobile device and monitor, when I'm not even there. Currently, I have to be connected to the network onsite to view it. Seems counterintuitive.
  • There are times I run into slow device adoption with either having to rest devices, or adding new one's to the existing environment.

  • Cloud management of access points
  • Easy deployment / expansion of infrastructure
  • Enterprise features at consumer price points
  • Product creep - they have an ever-expanding line card that sometimes confuses choices
  • Rely less on single-vendor solution stack
  • Sometimes releases are buggy - but recently the controller lets you easily see version specific issues / features

  • The access points are rock solid for uptime. Once configured, they don't skip a beat and you'll forget they're there.
  • Excellent range and signal strength.
  • Very comprehensive configuration and administration via the UniFi Controller software.
  • The Ubiquiti access points look great! Whether wall or ceiling mounted, they are discrete and neutral enough to just blend in with the building.
  • Being powered via PoE, it's easier to place the access points where they're most useful.
  • Initial configuration of access points can be rather tricky. Each one I have installed was a complete pain to get setup and connected with the UniFi Controller software. I never worked out what causes me problems, but thankfully once I've stumbled through the correct procedure, it does work completely reliably after that, for years on end.
  • The UniFi Controller software will nag you to share usage data. When offered to opt-in, I choose not to do so, but you'll eventually be nagged again on a future login.
  • Some of the 'tooltips' within the Controller software could be more informative.

  • AirMax devices are very easy to setup as a transparent bridge, which is our typical use case. It's usually a matter of changing the device IPs, making 3 or 4 configuration changes and physically mounting the devices.
  • There is a wide variety of AirMax devices that suit many different scenarios. Point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, different radio wavelengths for dealing with different environments/distances.
  • Value is excellent, especially on the "low-end" devices such as the (older, but still very useful) loco M900.
  • Once AirMax devices are setup, you can basically forget about them. Unless they get zapped by lightning, they just work!
  • "Test mode" for applying changes to devices is a godsend. Every network device should do this. Apply a setting, it will give you about 3 minutes to make sure it's really what you want before reverting back to saved settings. Invaluable when dealing with devices mounted 100' in the air that you have no easy access to factory reset for in case you accidentally make a change that knocks them offline.
  • Management of devices has become much simpler with the UNMS application, but personally, I would like to see some AirMax-like devices from their UNIFI line where everything could be managed from an UNIFI controller.
  • Most Ubiquiti devices are 24V PoE, which is the bane of my existence. I have had several devices fried when staff plugged into standard 48V PoE. They generally don't fail catastrophically, either. You just get strange issues that are difficult to diagnose and eventually need to replace them.
  • Devices seem to have trouble with many patch cables/switches. Make sure you certify any patch cables you make and don't over crimp.
  • Sending devices from the factory with same 192.168.1.20 IP instead of DHCP makes it a pain to bulk-setup devices.

  • Easy setup with clear instructions
  • Great mapping tool to help put devices where they are needed.
  • Superb testing and monitoring tools to help keep the system running and determine potential problems before they become larger.
  • Solid, I have rarely had to make changes on the equipment after it has been set.
  • Control software is an application, not web-based.
