We recommended Unbounce to one of our clients to build landing pages for their recruitment process. It is just being used by me in the digital marketing team. It enabled us to build dedicated landing pages for the marketing campaign, stripping out navigation and unnecessary links to tighten up the top of the funnel. It also allowed us to operate independently from the client's existing CMS and create pages quickly and more easily.
  • The landing page templates follow best practice and can be easily customized and branded.
  • It integrates with Google Analytics and a range of other products, such as Salesforce.
  • Pages can be hosted on a subdomain of your main website's domain.
  • The conversion tracking could sync up more neatly with Google Analytics.
  • Managing multiple landing pages can be quite cumbersome.
  • The user interface for building pages can be a little confusing at first.
Unbounce is well suited for PPC and marketing campaign landing pages. I don't think it's a great solution for long-term pages that will be part of your site permanently. I'd prefer to use my normal CMS to manage those. They offer a great discount to charities and nonprofits: all you have to do is ask! That was a major reason why my client signed up for it.
  • The marketing team were able to operate independently from web developers, saving time and money.
  • We were able to build multiple landing pages within a few days.
  • Although we were able to track entries to the top of the funnel, we were unable to track users' progress all the way to the end when they actually completed our registration process.
  • Optimizely,Visual Website Optimizer,Google Content Experiments
Unbounce is slightly different from Optimizely, Visual Website Optimizer and Google Content Experiments because it is essentially a tool for building landing pages rather than testing any aspect of your website. Unbounce solved a problem for us because we wanted to build landing pages quickly and independently from the existing CMS. However, we did not take full advantage of the A/B testing opportunities. These other products would also be more effective if you want to do multivariate testing.
The nonprofit discount makes it so affordable that my client was happy to continue their subscription all year round. They have used it to build landing pages to capture expressions of interest for their next recruitment window. It hasn't quite produced the sort of results we were hoping for, but I'm not sure that's Unbounce's fault.

I'm the only user of Unbounce in my company. I'm a Search Marketing Executive in the digital marketing team. I used it to build landing pages for one of my clients for their recruitment campaign. It allowed me to build pages without the need for support from web developers, so I got things done more quickly.

Unbounce doesn't need much technical support. One of the hardest things was getting the subdomain set up - but the problems for that stemmed from the DNS provider rather than Unbounce. You don't have to be a designer or a developer to use it because you can just modify existing templates.
  • Marketing team can build landing pages independently.
  • Client can modify pages themselves.
  • You can copy one of your existing pages if you need to create a slight variant of it for a different audience.
  • We used it as a clickthrough landing page. The main conversion of our campaign occurred elsewhere.
  • We've been able to modify and re-use our original pages for a different purpose.
  • Setting up the next campaign should be even simpler.
  • Build landing pages for PPC traffic.
  • Create landing pages for a specific marketing campaign.
  • Create a data capture form.

Unbounce offers an 80% discount to charities and nonprofits if you ask them. This made the product so much more affordable for our client. It saves so much on development time and labour to get a page ready quickly for a marketing campaign. It more than paid for itself and is worth keeping in mind for future campaigns.
I don't think I would change very much. I might dig a little deeper about how the tool would integrate with Google Analytics because the most important thing is our success metric and the "conversions" that Unbounce was reporting were merely clickthroughs to another page. Success for us meant those users then going on to sign up and complete the registration process beyond the Unbounce landing page.

  • Integrating with Google Analytics.
  • Setting up a subdomain and cross-domain tracking.
  • Getting the branding right so that the Unbounce landing pages looked like they were part of the main website.
Choose a subdomain that is appropriate for multiple types of pages. You don't want to have to keep changing it. Think about using Google Tag Manager to manage your Google Analytics code and event tracking. Build one landing page to completion. Then make a copy of it if you need to create variant pages.
They have help pages that usually deal with a specific problem. They can sometime be a little out-of-date or too specific to be applicable to my own particular use case. The support pages seem to have grown ad-hoc and organically rather than being fully documented from the start. When I did need help, I was able to get it pretty easily.
No
Yes: I asked for a discount on behalf of my charity client and they gave me 80% in perpetuity! This made the product so much more affordable that it was silly not to sign up. It has more than paid for itself and the Unbounce team were really happy to help us out.
  • Adding Google Analytics and other third-party code.
  • Moving design elements around the page.
  • Customizing an existing landing page template.
  • Tracking the conversion you want if that occurs beyond the landing page.
  • Editing text.
  • Saving and publishing small tweaks to the landing page.
It's pretty easy for someone who doesn't regularly deal with HTML to pick up. I've sometimes had to dig around in the help section to figure out how to do what I wanted to do. My client felt confident modifying my original design once I had built the first page. It got a little fiddly at times when making small tweaks to the design and text.

We use Unbounce for landing pages on our website. A/B Testing provides valuable insights as to which version of a landing page is more successful at generating leads. We first connected this to Zoho CRM and then after we switched to SalesForce, we pointed the form information there. Unbounce is primarily used by the Marketing Department which manages the Website. It is used to capture visitor information on gated content such as white papers, case studies and other assets.
  • Easy to build landing pages. Can copy html from your website so that the landing page looks the same as other pages.
  • Easy integrations. Both Zoho CRM and Salesforce were easy to link up.
  • Ability to export visitor information in the event that a CRM integration fails. (Occasionally we changed fields in our CRM that then prevented unbounce from exporting visitor information. i.e. we changed the length of a field without limiting the Unbounce field length. In these cases, Unbounce notified me that there was a problem and it was easy to fix.)
  • For integrating with CRMs, it would be nice to have a feature that shows you the formatting of the field in your CRM. That way you could match formatting on your form without having unexpected errors like (CRM field is number only - need to set up a number only field in Unbounce) or (lead source field is 35 characters max - limit length of lead source to prevent an error).
  • In Unbounce, each landing page is a separate file. Would be nice to be able to change formatting on many landing pages at once. This would be useful when rebranding or renewing a website. You may have 20-30 or more landing pages that need to be reformatted individually.
I would ask: what are your plans for growth? If you are intending to implement a marketing automation software, Unbounce will no longer be necessary as the landing page feature should be included with marketing automation. In this case, Unbounce could serve as a temporary fix, but beware: if you set up a bunch of landing pages for assets that get sent via email to mailing lists, you may not want to turn off Unbounce when you switch to marketing automation. If you did, you'd lose any prospects that might have saved your email for later viewing.
  • We successfully captured information for up to 500 prospects per campaign.
  • A/B testing allowed the Marketing team to plan future improvements to our website and emails.
  • Phone number verification helped keep visitors from inputting invalid numbers like 9999999999
  • Pardot,HubSpot,ExactTarget Interactive Marketing Hub,Marketo
You'll notice that I selected marketing automation software for my comparison. This is because we have just switched over to Pardot which includes basically everything that Unbounce does along with its many marketing automations. Basically, we used Unbounce for landing pages for assets on our website and through email blasts. When it was time to select a marketing automation software, we evaluated Hubspot, ExactTarget, Marketo and Pardot. Unbounce didn't have a chance compared to these other options as Unbounce is not a full marketing automation platform. I do highly recommend Unbounce if you are not planning to automate your marketing processes.
Please see comparison information and other areas of my review. We have no need for Unbounce since all of its features are available in Pardot. We would have happily continued using Unbounce if we had not purchased Marketing Automation Software.
  • Creating landing pages through the editor was straight forward and simple.
  • Setting up CRM integrations was a piece of cake.
  • Checking A/B versions of landing pages was simple and useful.
  • Changing formatting for all landing pages to match new website design required editing each one individually. (35 total)
  • Initial CRM integration is easy, but sometimes you forget to match the field type from the CRM to the field type of the form in Unbounce. I wish there was an easy way to sync these fields other than receiving errors when Unbounce is unable to push over a lead due to field inconsistencies.
Unbounce made it easy for my team to build landing pages for website and email. We gained valuable A/B testing insights and gathered information from visitors effectively converting them to leads. The Editor is straight forward and I was able to learn to use it on my own without instruction. CRM integration was easy and consistently worked.
