What is Untangle NG Firewall?
Untangle NG Firewall is an open-source firewall and gateway security platform. It features a free firewall platform with paid add-ons for customizable functionality. These features, many of which have a free version, include intrusion protection, virus blocker, app control, SSL inspection, bandwidth control, reporting, and VPN (including OpenVPN). Untangle also provides a cloud-based management console for remote management. It can be deployed on-premises or as SaaS, and virtualized or cloud-based. Honest opinion
- Protection across remote access working. With 10% of staff trying to access unsecure websites whilst on company machines when working remotely.
- Protection from increased DDoS and other attacks to our system.
- Reliability, the Hosted server has had a 98% availability since November 2019 with the 2% downtime being during system updates.

Untangle not just for Schools
- Using our own hardware Dell R720 Server having NO problems running this with our company size of 30 users.
- Connecting to other Untangle running locations as VPN and connecting to other Cisco VPN locations.
- Provides internet protection.
- Provides failover for our internet as we have 2 connections.

Awesome Firewall
- Feel more secure on my own network.
- Feel more confident on my client's network.
- It's allowed us to be PCI compliant which we need to do business.
- It's allowed us to not only be PCI compliant but follow best practice to be actually as secure as we can be.
- It's really presented us with a lot of flexibility in terms of how we connect to other services.
- There is some maintenance, but it's very minimal.

Untangle NG is an awesome pick
- Easy setup and implementation made ROI easy to achieve. An Untangle HA solution is 1/2-1/3 the cost of a comparable Cisco/Checkpoint/Palo Alto solution.
- non-business internet usage has nearly ground to a halt.
- SD-WAN integration made it easy to connect branch offices quickly without complicated IPSEC configuration.

Great product, flexible and intuitive
- The positive is the savings in time the IT department has recouped by not having to continuously clean and maintain end point computers. Not to mention helping end user use their time more wisely by not wasting time on non-work related web activities.
- The only negative is complaints from end users about the restrictions.

Untangle NG Firewall Review
- Before my installation, I was getting called 3-4 times a week to clean malware infections. Now I am getting called 3-4 times a year.
- Employees are far more productive when they can't access their social media from their work computers.
- Spam has been blocked and quarantined from hitting our users' inboxes, drastically reducing the time it takes to sort through daily email.
