We updated our processes within change management to now notate the use of the Veeam platform, while also going through the formal process of deploying Veeam by using change management. The prior backup process was manual, and I wasn't given any documentation or training on it. Rather than trying to figure it out, we just deployed Veeam and setup three backup jobs (due to the size of our data set). We then started the jobs and hit the ground running.

We're running a single physical server, with two data volumes (35 TB and 25 TB) that are being protected.

Change management was a minor issue with the implementation
Since this was a new product we were implementing, the risks were low compared to the benefits of having this system operationally in production. We made sure all the process of implementation was recorded, discussed and approved.

Change management was minimal
There was very little change with regards to Veeam, aside from not using tapes anymore. If anything that made it easier. And since it isn't a company-facing piece of software, only IT - and only those responsible for backups - were affected. And we're perfectly fine with change, especially if it increases our efficiency.
