We archive some of our backups periodically to an off-site NAS. We do not use a special solution. We just have another archival job on the Veeam Data Platform Backup and Replication software specially for this.

We installed the plugin that allows our fileshare/NAS to be implemented into veeam, we no longer have to deal with Windows for DFS for our fileshare, and are now at peace knowing it is being backed up securely

We use file-share backups for a few important file shares in our company. Mostly these are used to restore previous versions of files when users accidently overwrite the file. It is easy to set up backups jobs that keep any number of days worth of changes we desire with any daily time increment needed. Veeam has the capability to configure the more recent backups very granularly and automatically converts to less granular backups as time progresses. Beautiful feature!

Veeam Backup: best for virtual infrastructure.
We are using NAS in our company but not for live data - they will only be used as repositories in Veeam to store backups on them. So we don't back up them anyway.

We are using NFS for our primary and offsite repositories. Veeam Data Platform uses a "Gateway" role to mount these repositories for each job. Veeam Data Platform has a built in NFS client that allows you to use either a Windows or Linux server as a Gateway. This was one of the primary reasons we choose Veeam Data Platform over the other alternatives is because Veeam Data Platform actually supports this type of repo. We are also leveraging Veeam Data Platform's dedupe and encryption on these NFS repos.
