What is Ventiv Claims?

Ventiv Claims is a claims administration system that is comprised of one or more Claims Management modules and a variety of supporting modules, including Absence Management, Enterprise Legal Management, Workers’ Compensation, Policy Management, Billing Management, Claims Intelligence, Corrective Action Plans, and Incident Reporting. The system was designed as a claims management system from the perspective of claims examiners. Designed to make it easy to manage claims, it includes functionality like diaries, business rules, workflow management, notepads, and financial management. Ventiv Claims enables users to define custom workflows tailored to each client’s specific business process, to make claim, document, and policy administration more efficient.

Ventiv Claims offers an “out of the box” solution to clients. At the same time, the Ventiv Claims architectural design was developed with the fundamental requirement of flexibility to adapt to meet the changing business requirements of clients. The system modules, fields, interfaces, and reports are user configurable so that Ventiv Claims can be adjusted to meet most organizational processes without custom programming.

Ventiv is the claims application for my Workers' Compensation Joint Powers Authority. We insurer 90 plus school districts and over 43,000 covered employees. In the event one of these covered employees are injured on the job, we administer there workers compensation benefits via Claims Enterprise or IVOS. IVOS is also the claims application for our Liability JPA which has over 140 member school districts.
  • Distribution of benefits.
  • Correspondence.
  • Loss history.
  • Loss run reports.
  • State reporting.
  • CMS Reporting
  • Navigation within claims screens can be difficult at times.
  • Report Writing can be a bit more user friendly.
  • Security Administration could be a bit more user friendly.
I feel Ventiv truly understands my industry, CA Workers Compensation. They have a very good compliance department that helps me keep on top of all state requirements. The application itself is pretty user friendly for my examiner staff. The layout is nice as well as the coloring scheme of the screens.
  • Has allowed for timely provision of benefits to our injured employees.
  • Allows for completion of all state mandated reporting.
  • Business Rules are very help in structuring and setting into place good claims practices.
A lot of planning, backup procedures and patience. We planned and held many meetings prior to implementation which were necessary to ensure the migration of our data was successful. We did see some bumps along the way, but the Ventiv support staff did a great job keeping us on track.
The work flow configuration tools have tremendously improved our claims management processes in the area of mail importation and timely assignment to examiner staff. It has also proved to be very help in the processing of medical and non-medical bills with and without nightly interface with my bill review company.
  • Online Training
  • In-Person Training
I have had the opportunity to conduct online training, specifically with Ventiv University. I found it very user friendly and informative.
I have not evaluated any other Claims Application in over 12 years.
  • Timely Provision of Workers' compensation benefits to covered injured employees
  • Mandatory State Reporting
  • CMS Reporting
  • Loss Runs
  • Interfaced with our Imaging application, Laserfiche, to import electronic bills for payment
  • Interface with outside vendors to receive and process invoices electronically.
Overall, Ventiv is meeting my programs needs.
Yes
Riskmaster. It was very cumbersome and not user friendly. It also did not allow for us to automate certain business process and state reporting.
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
I felt Ventiv's functionality met my program needs.
I probably would include my Network Engineer more in the evaluation the claims application to ensure complete compatibility with our infrastructure.
At times, their are some cases that are not resolved timely.
I am not sure what "premium support" is. I do pay a significant annual support fee to assist with various issues.
Yes
There have been times when the resolution is not timely.
I would have to say in the creation and assistance with a newly customized report, needed for the CA State Annual report, the AR-2 report.

We are a California Third Party Administrator for Workers' Compensation and General Liability claims. The application is used across our whole organization.
  • Name recognition
  • Customization
  • Ease of use for front end user
  • Document handling
  • Load case management transfer
  • Slow loading times for tabs
  • Automation to assign diaries to claim assistant instead of examiner or supervisor
  • Pagination and allowing for view of more than 500 records on a tab
  • PDF converter in application requires specific formatting of the Word document
  • Need for work arounds for existing issues
  • Application built more for an Insurance carrier than a TPA
Due to AdminSure's decision to self-implement, Ventiv Claims requires constant support. Highly recommend that Ventiv handle onboarding/implementation of the application. Do not attempt to do this on your own.
  • The cost of supporting Ventiv Claims continues to increase.
Our implementation occurred many years ago. During that time AdminSure management was allowed to implement the application on their own. This strategy created many work-around tactics which ultimately produced data corruption. To this day, we continue to work on fixing and cleaning up data. Without the constant support of our CSM, Shashi Basavaraju, we would not be able to function.
Ventiv Claims is highly configurable, though it does require continuous support. There is an ease of use in comparison to similar applications; however, there are some automations that could be available to better handle client needs. Dynamic business rules can be built to assist in certain automation, but often require assistance from Ventiv to create and implement.

Training is always offered.
We already had Ventiv CE when we looked into these. We administer for a client that utilizes SIMS, which allows for less customization and slower load times, as well as less freedom of movement within the application. We also looked in to Origami Risk as an alternative and liked many of it's features, but found it lacked customization for some of our specific purposes.
My CSM's, Shashi Basavaraju, support is amazing. The application would not function without her.
Yes, we purchased premium support (Managed Service Hours - MSH). We tried managed the application on our own but found it be counterproductive. MSHs is absolutely necessary to keep the application running.
Yes
We typically encounter bugs during new release testing and upgrades.
Ventiv provided exceptional support during a time when AdminSure decided to replace most of the technical team. This period lasted for about a year. During this time Ventiv assisted AdminSure with every aspect of managing and maintaining the application. AdminSure would not have made it through this transition as easily without Ventiv's support.

Ventiv Claims is used to administer workers' compensation, general liability, and medical malpractice claims for the entire organization.
  • They provide integrated solutions for workers' compensation compliance.
  • They provide a flexible application.
  • They support their clients with knowledgeable resources.
  • More consistent upgrade environments with less regressions.
  • Better documentation and training for advance features in the system.
It is well suited to manage claims and all the aspects of claims and compliance. The environment does need support from a strong analyst with some technical knowledge and reporting experience.
  • The environment has allowed us to stay compliant with all state and federal requirements without bringing in third-party systems.
  • It has allowed us to administer the environment with less technical staff.
There were significant regressions in the environments as we tried to implement the newest version. It took us a few versions and rounds of testing to find a version that met most of our needs with features that existed in the older version we were in. It is a great product, but there were some gaps between the environment we were in and the newest version of Ventiv Claims.
Business rules and workflows have saved us significant time and allow staff to be more consistent with the information they put into the environment. The correspondence feature makes it easy for staff to produce letters to claimants and vendors with consistency. The document image features have allowed us to be paperless since 2009, and it easily allowed staff to administer claims when the pandemic hit.
The online training is comprehensive and very helpful. The system is so configurable so the training does a good job of reviewing the possibilities within the system. There are some features that do not have training and it would be more helpful to have training on all features within the system. It would also be helpful to have more training on some of the more complex items in the system to help administrators.
Ventiv Claims is much more robust. Ventiv [Claims] is the best option in my opinion because it covers workers' compensation compliance in one system. [In] most other systems we have evaluated, you would have to also enlist a third party to comply with state and federal standards.
  • Claims handling.
  • Compliance.
  • Reporting.
  • We have been able to also track our Return-to-Work program within the claims.
  • Supervisors are able to audit claims and track adjuster performance.
  • We are looking at the system to track absences in the county.
  • We are also considering tracking discipline matters to easily see which employees have workers' compensation claims and discipline cases.
We have been using Ventiv Claims for over ten years, and there is a wealth of information in the system. We have not seen any other system that compares to the Ventiv Claims environment.
Overall the support is really good. There are only a few instances where the support could not figure out how to resolve issues we have encountered quickly.
We [purchased] extra support because we host the claims environment, and we needed additional help to manage the application server for upgrades, configurations, and monitoring for uptime.
Yes
Bugs are usually resolved in patches or upgrades. It is a bit of a process because you have to test through the fix or upgrade to [ensure] it hasn't affected anything else.
Ventiv continually provides exceptional support. They take the overall need of the organization and find solutions to resolve issues as quickly as possible.
Overall, the system is easy to use. Some fields are redundant within the system, which makes it a little confusing, but once you choose which to use, you can easily hide the other field from users so they do not enter information in the other field.
  • Exporting claim search information for additional analysis.
  • Automatic reporting to the state for FRIO and SROI.
  • Medicare reporting solution within the application.
  • Business rules and workflows to help users process their work more quickly.
