  • Visio has typically been a fairly priced product. It's only with the advent of subscription-based licensing, that I'm not so sure it has the same ROI.
  • For the most part, even really old versions of Visio are still very useful. Good ROI on the installed versions.
  • Allows us to keep documentation up to date for audits avoiding fines, penalties, etc.

  • Microsoft Visio helps improve communication which ensures increased alignment. This helps reduce costly rework on projects.
  • Microsoft Visio is expensive to license the whole organization, so it takes some time to ensure your diagram is in a good format for publishing and there are only so many people who can edit the Visio files.

  • It helps get buy-in from teams by showing them what they're currently doing visually and help convince them of new processes that could make their lives easier.
  • It has assisted me in getting design approvals from non-technical users by having the visual aid.
  • Depending on how complex the process is, sometimes it can take a while to fully document the process, involving multiple sheets, swimlanes, etc.

  • Reduces the amount of time I need to create process flow diagrams. In the past I would use Powerpoint or Word which required a lot more effort and time and never looked as good. Visio just takes that headache away.
  • Only negative is that I personally believe it should always have been part and parcel of the Office suite, thus giving more users the opportunity to use it rather than specifically having to justify its separate purchase within our organisation. Different now with Office 365 of course!

  • I think the diagrams I have created have been very beneficial to visualizing the functionality and workflow for our developing products.
  • The way we associate an agile story with a 'piece' of our diagram, allows us to make sure we have all in the flow accounted for, which makes our project schedule more dependable, and we use our development resource time correctly.
  • For people skilled in this product, it can be a help toward being more efficient in product execution. However, it is not beneficial if you have someone not proficient using the product, and spending an inordinate amount of time producing a diagram.

  • Visio diagrams have help us streamline processes that reduce costs and improve efficiencies.
  • It is a very complete program, it allows you to make industrial and civil works diagrams. It also allows you to design 3D graphics. It is a very reliable program.
  • Its ability to work with vectors is a big plus. It can easily import SVG graphics, edit their individual lines and then being able to export the edited SVG again.
