VNC Connect is a solid remote support tool used by my staff. Since our team is small and we support many users we utilize remote support options as much as possible. We use it for remote troubleshooting, in-house and offsite and the product works reliably. We also use it during our audiovisual events to control presentation laptops. This enables us to remain out of sight and assist presenters with their presentations remotely from the back of the room.
  • Remote connections in-house work flawlessly.
  • Remote connections offsite work well - dependent on internet connections.
  • Works extremely well with assisting remote presentations - no lag time.
  • Its a pretty straight forward product - I would like to see more tools with a "wow" factor.
  • Panel colors are blah - I would like more eye-catching colors.
  • A more consistent look with all platforms - like Mac & PC.
VNC Connect works really well in-house, via a wireless and hard-wired connection. This comes in handy when we are assisting presenters in board meetings or connecting to a desktop for remote support. The product is simply reliable. We have used it for major events in large rooms with hundreds of people and had no issues. Like any remote support tool, it also depends on the network connectivity.

  • Promotes the ideology of fast and efficient service.
  • Reduces customer frustration with waiting for service.
VNC Connect works just as well as the top products on the market. At the time VNC Connect was priced better and provided us with a simple reliable tool. VNC Connect works well cross-platform which is important to our institute as we are a 60/40 PC to Mac ratio. Reliability cross-platform is critical to our environment.
VNC Connect is a reliable product that has been around for a long time. It is reasonably priced and works well in the Mac & PC environment. When you have a small team that supports many users we need tools that we can rely upon and that will get the job done on the first try. Many customers appreciate the quick assistance and can multi-task while our team works on their computer issues remotely. From a customer service point of view, this tool gives us transparency and efficient effectiveness.

We have multiple departments that utilized VNC Connect. Our Helpdesk team which uses the tool for remote troubleshooting also uses it for supporting Audio Visual Events. Our Network Team that uses it for remote troubleshooting for users also uses it to troubleshoot and connect to servers. Some of our Scientific staff use it to connect to systems remotely when running long-term experiments.

Skillsets required to support VNC Connect include basic knowledge of network protocol such as using IP's and understanding bandwidth and packet loss. Tech's and users also require PC & Mac knowledge. Tech's also need to have the ability to run tests between systems prior to our AV Events or when working with VIP users, as they are on strict and busy schedules.
  • Remote support in-house.
  • Remote support offsite.
  • Screensharing and remote controlling during audiovisual events.
  • Filesharing.
  • Use on Mac & PC.
  • Works well in large rooms with multiple users.
  • Works well over offsite Internet connections.
  • Works well when videos are present on remote systems - not much lag-time on the remote control system.
  • This depends on the direction of the product.
  • If they integrate artificial intelligence into the product we would consider this option.
VNC is a solid product for the price. It simply works and its reliable across different platforms. Some products state they work well in the Mac environment but don't deliver. This one does what it says. Connections are reliable, but of course, this depends on internet connections. The product works well over wireless connections as well. It delivers on what a remote tool should deliver on. My technicians are happy with the product and customers appreciate the ease of use when letting us connect to their systems. Some also appreciate the remote support while they are multi-task.
Yes
We replaced Bomgar with VNC Connect. Bomgar worked well but when it came time to replace the in-house appliance server we had to weigh the cost of that versus a different service. VNC Connect didn't require an in-house appliance so the cost was dramatically different. Since we are a non-profit company we have to go with a product that delivers and has an efficient cost associated with it.

The most important factor is reliability across different platforms and over wireless and wired connections. We have utilized this product on a 1 to 1 connection in large halls and in-house with regular users. It's very easy to use and doesn't require the customer to endure multiple steps for a connection.
If I had to do it again I would probably engage in unknown vendors as the technology keeps evolving and the services are becoming more efficient.

None. The product is easy to use and implement.

We honestly never had to call tech support as the product worked flawlessly. Our technicians are very knowledgable of remote support tools so we can troubleshoot and fix issues on our own. There was no need to purchase premium support.

  • Connecting to a remote system.
  • Reconnecting if a connection drops off.
  • Screen-sharing.
  • File sharing.
  • The Mac interface is different than the PC Interface.
  • Reconnecting to a Mac sometimes didn't work without restarting the system - this could also be due to a Mac update.
VNC Connect is a solid product and our techs are very confident that they can get the job done using it. Reliability is key for us since we have a small support team and many users to support. It also helps keep us in the background more allowing the end-users to multi-task. VNC supports our goal of providing quick and efficient services.

We have many advertisement players in our campus. Since there are so many of them, we can't run around to see what's playing. And RealVNC resolves all the problems of running around to just see what's playing. We can see all players' screen in a computer. And of course, we can control all the players we want.
  • We can connect to all the channel players.
  • Just like sitting in front of those players.
  • Only problem is that we can't remote to a computer if we are outside the local network, but can so do from home because I can just forward the port from the router. In the campus, it's too much trouble to get that configuration done.
The encryption is the most important feature that we want since that is one of the requirements for all the connections from one computer to others. Another feature is it can print from the remote PC back to my local printers, that saves a lot of time.

  • For a local network connection to have control over another PC is the best feature.
  • If I need to connect to the client, and the client needs to get licensed software to install, that can stop me from using this software. I'd like to see a feature like TeamViewer and others so that they can download a free client and I can remote to them.
RealVNC existed before TeamViewer, and that's why we stay with RealVNC. Now it seems like when we try to connect from outside the network, only TeamViewer can do that job very well. So far I don't see RealVNC has a similar feature that we need without changing any setting from the router.
Really hope to see that feature soon from RealVNC.

I am the technical support for the channel players we have in the campus, to make sure all the players are running.

The skills that you need to know to support the RealVNC - software is not needed since it isn't hard to learn at all.
  • Remote to their PC
  • Printer from remote to local
  • Encrypted security
  • Have a client install the server and I can remote over.
  • Ther software is being evaluated and not sure that we will continue using it.
It doesn't have a feature that TeamViewer has.

Able to remote to another PC without seat on that PC.
I would remote from outside the local area network.

Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled
Not hard at all, only took 3 to 5 minutes to finish for each machine.
  • license doesn't make the version that we bought
No problem at all, love the product.
So far we've figured out the issue we have, haven't called support yet.
No
So far we haven't contacted them for any advance issue yet.
  • All functions are pretty easy to use
  • I don't see any difficult functions to use so far.
Yes
Love the mobile app, little hard to use for iPhone but at least I get it done.
It doesn't have many features, so whatever features there are, are pretty easy to understand.
