A tool to have for real time monitoring and analysing system logs and network traces.
We use Vmware vRealize log to manage, analyze, monitor, and administer system logs. It helps us in the monitoring of application logs, network traces, configure files, messages, and performance data and can be monitored on the UI.
- It is used for log collection and analysis the virtual applications. Admins collect, view, manage and analyze system logs.
- It provides real-time monitoring of application logs, network traces, config files, notification alerts, etc.
- Provide the ability to manage infra, which helps in identifying and troubleshooting virtual applications.
- The new features like proxy less event forwarding to vRealize log insight cloud are quite useful.
- If we can integrate it with other products, then it will be quite useful. Integration with some network devices and storage devices would be useful.
- It basically supports the system with big-size VM disks; it should be made available to support other devices and hardware as well.
- They may also need to improve on complex configuration.
- It is quite useful application to monitor system logs.

vRealize Operations Review
We use this program to monitor our VMware infrastructure. With this software we are able to create custom dashboards to ensure that capacity and performance are in line with our service level offering. vRealize allows us to define our own in key performance indicators and send out alerts when they fall below specific thresholds.
- Create custom dashboards focusing on customized infrastructure attributes such as cpu, memory, disk.
- Send automated reports.
- More features should be available in the standard version.
- Licensing is very expensive.
- Easy access to dashboards and metrics displaying our key performance indicators.
- Verbose alerting to help find the problem quickly.
We have not tried any other products yet however I hear that turbonomic is a big competitor.

vRealize and how it saved our company
We use vRealize Operations to help with workflow operations. The ability to plan deployments, which help with determining if hosts or clusters can handle a new VM with specific specs. we also use vRealize in determining where we can save on resources such as deleting VM's that have been turned off for so many days, or if a VM is under utilizing ram, CPU, or storage. Finally we use vRealize in a health check of our environment which has been very helpful during outages.
- Shows us where we can save on cost of keeping machines running, or boosting resources on VM's
- the ability to plan deployments with scenario plans that can be customized over a specific timeline
- reports that can be sent and shared with different teams or departments
- Its a complex software that is gathering info daily, sometimes determining how to get the info you want can be troublesome that requires the help from VMware to get setup.
- A better search function to allow users to pull info instead of going through predetermine dashboards
- We believe that the ability to preplan deployments with vRealize has proven its return on investments.
- Our troubleshooting time has been reduced with vrealize because its constantly collecting performance data. typically vrealize will tell us cause of fault before we can determine it ourselves.
