We feel safe with WatchGuard as our gatekeeper

Because we hold clients' assets during a project, we want to be sure we care keeping it safe from ransomwear, and WatchGuard is perfect for this scenario. And in this world of growing malwear threats, it's always good--along with good common sense-- to have a safety net that can filter out potential threats.

It is very suited for small to medium businesses as the price is affordable. The ability to modularly add options and subscriptions based on your budget or need makes the WatchGuard an excellent choice. Updates to the firmware are easy to perform, and I've never had a problem with an update. This makes it ideal in scenarios where you can schedule an update after hours and be sure it will work without having to set up sandbox or development environments.

We have yet to find anything we can not achieve for our clients by using a WatchGuard product. They easily allow site-to-site vpn failover to other lines should the primary fail. We actively use the VLAN functionality in the hospitality industry to ensure network segmentation and allow blocking of certain types of websites.

WatchGuard can be expensive but It's Worth It!

Watchguard hardware and services are NOT cheap but is VERY worth it for those who can afford it. I'd say WatchGuard Network Security is best for small businesses that are financially well off all the way to enterprise-level companies. When considering a WG device and service, there is wiggle room for price negotiating with resellers, and is best/cheaper to purchase the services subscription in 3-year increments. When COVID lockdowns first hit and we had to send everyone home, setting up VPN users with the Watchguard VPN SSL app is easy and very reliable. This was 40-50 users VPNing simultaneously.

Watchguard network security is well suited in the policies definition area: it allows very fine and granular policies per user, network interface, protocol, service.... but it can be tricky to identify a specific issue by watching the logs or the traffic traversing the interfaces. This area has room for improvement.
