We use Webengage as Marketing Automation and Customer Retention Platform: We use it to store and analyze customer data We use it to use that data to send personalized campaigns across different channels Business Problems Webengage solves; 1. Helps keep the customer engaged, 2. Help collect, store and analyze first-party data and use it in campaigns.
  • A/B Testing of Campaigns (Email/WhatsApp/SMS/Push).
  • Customer Support is prompt and good.
  • Releases good features.
  • Native Integration with Shopify is not there.
  • Analytics can be improved.
  • Segment creating time can be reduced.
Some specific scenarios where it is more suited: Very well suited for web-based applications, websites. If you are running an e-commerce site it's the best tool out there for you. It collects, stores, and analyzes data. Helps you automate and send personalized campaigns. If you are using it solely for analytics then it might be less appropriate.

We are currently using WebEngage to manage marketing automation at scale for our e-commerce business vertical. Using WebEngage integration on our platforms(mobile/desktop/app) we are sending personalized remarketing communication to users in order to improve our conversion funnel on journey abandonment. Further, improving retention of our existing customers via promotional and transactional engagement journeys.
  • Journey Automation
  • User Segmentation
  • Intuitive user interface
  • Easy service provider integration
  • Analytics
  • Attribution
  • RFM Analysis
WebEngage can easily reduce turnaround time for product and marketing teams to execute marketing campaigns for specific user segments as well as remove any dependency on internal tech teams for the development and maintenance of automation journeys. Further, A/B tests can be executed to measure the performance of message variants in real-time directly from the panel. But WebEngage lacks a robust Analytics platform. While basic metrics such as open rate and click-through rate for messages being sent can be considered for reporting, attribution is still not the strongest suit in case the marketing team relies on multiple Ad networks for acquisition. Thus, as per experience, it's better to use the automation suite offered by WebEngage with a different data analytics platform.

Helpful in marketing automation which in turn helps in improving engagement & retention. The platform is good [where] the capability part is concerned but the support & customer-facing team does not add any value [in my opinion]. [In my experience] dealing with support is a very big challenge for startups as it wastes a good time of resources.
  • Push delivery rates are good
  • WA integration is good
  • Dashboard is pretty easy to use
  • Support & timeline
  • More feature roll out based on different use cases from clients
It's a good tool to start with but not scalable if you're planning to scale rapidly.

WebEngage is an integral part of marketing in our organization and is used extensively used by various departments. This tool has been successfully shaping most of our marketing activities and has been a Revenue driver for the organization. This has helped in better acquisition and retention of the users and has boosted revenue for sure.
  • Ease in creating user journeys.
  • Easy implementation of APIs.
  • Good reporting dashboard and scheduling features.
  • Segmentation of the users is easy.
  • Relays
  • Onsite should have more options of templates.
  • Backend support for better reachability of the channels.
  • Cohort studies should be more customizable.
When the business is expected to scale and expand, tools such as this proves very handy where it helps to target the correct segments or correct audiences with the right offerings, thereby increasing the chances of transaction or desired action from the user while saving pennies which could have been burnt if a blanket approach would have been used. Automation saves a lot of time and effort for the marketers and businesses boosted due to its operation.
