WordTracker has become a preferred alternative to SEMrush for keyword data analysis as many users find it to be easier to navigate. The software is used daily by SEO departments to support client strategies and conduct in-depth SEO research. One of the key use cases of WordTracker is its ability to provide valuable keyword statistics such as search volume and competition level through its Keyword Effectiveness Index, or KEI, figure. This feature allows users to make informed decisions on which keywords to target and optimize their content accordingly.

In addition to keyword analysis, WordTracker is an invaluable tool for content marketing research. It assists in selecting relevant keywords that drive traffic to company blogs, ultimately improving organic search rankings. The software also helps the social media team stay up-to-date with trending keywords in their industry, ensuring that their content remains engaging and searchable. By addressing the business problem of understanding how the target audience searches and what topics they are interested in, WordTracker enables companies to develop effective SEO strategies.

Heinz Marketing, a prominent user of WordTracker, employs the software for comprehensive keyword research and works closely with clients to devise successful SEO strategies. Coordinators and consultants within the company have found WordTracker useful for website optimization and search ad optimization as well. Another notable feature of WordTracker is its ability to compensate for Google's limited data transparency by providing insights into keyword data from multiple sources.

The key use cases of WordTracker include building keyword sets, expanding existing sets, and conducting gap analysis. Users appreciate the software's user-friendly interface and the option to export large volumes of data for further analysis in Excel. Additionally, frequent data updates provided by WordTracker make it a reliable tool for ongoing keyword research.

Overall, WordTracker offers a range of features that cater to different aspects of SEO research and content optimization. Its versatility makes it a valuable asset for businesses of all sizes looking to enhance their online visibility and target their desired audience effectively.

At Heinz Marketing we use WordTracker to help with our own keyword research as well as to help clients build a useful SEO strategy. Most of the coordinators and consultants in our company have used WordTracker for clients and we have helped clients set up and use the program. We have found WordTracker useful for both website optimization and even for optimizing search ads.
  • WordTracker provides alternate keywords that are similar to your search so you may find additional keywords that you may have not thought of using
  • WordTracker provides an easy-to-read assessment of each keyword phrase so you can see which keywords are commonly searched for and how competitive the landscape is for that phrase (if there are a lot of pages optimized for that particular keyword)
  • WordTracker will save your work so you can pick up where you left off- which can be very convenient
  • A more detailed walk-through for first time users which gives usage scenarios for the different features would probably get people up and running in WordTrack a lot quicker
  • For novice users it might be useful to have WordTracker point out the keywords that would be good to focus on based on the KEI. Something like highlighting the useful keywords in green and the highly competitive ones in red.
  • Maybe a quick intro video for new users. We help clients get up and running in WordTracker and a quick video demonstrating the usage and how it is beneficial might help.
It is well suited for those that are really looking to properly optimize their website. Combining WordTracker with tools such as Moz can be very useful and really make a difference in SEO.
  • WordTracker helped come up with strong keywords for Search Ads which increased click throughs
  • Helped maximize the keywords used on client websites and improve the quality of leads coming through
none
It is useful for both ourselves and clients

Wordtracker gives me insight into what is going on, since Google has limited it data transparency.

Wordtracker allows us to:
1. Build keyword sets.
2. Expand existing keyword sets & do gap analysis
3. Insight into multiple data sources.

Best of all, they allow us to export large volumes of data to be analyzed in excel. It is nice that their data is updated all the time.
  • Keyword research for SEO and SEM
  • Keyword gap analysis
  • Multi source keyword research
  • UI
  • Data storage. Yes it would be nice to query all data which has ever entered your system.
  • Smarter query system
Good bang for the buck.
Access to nice data sets
Good for SEO and SEO / Paid Search / PPC
Great for all groups of all sizes.
Easy to export data.
It gives you data which Google used to give you.

Not so good for local search, uber specific categories, or international search. Since the data is 30 days old, it is not good for instant search campaigns, but is great for SEO and long tail SEM
  • Fast way to get data = less time wasted time
  • Lots of accurate data
  • Cost effective for teams
Word tracker was cheap to use, can be rolled out to a team quickly, and provides good data for Search engine optimization SEO and paid search management SEM. Word tracker uses multiple databases, and has a nice data set. There are others out there, but they are not as flexible, the data set is not as good, and many are more expensive.
  • Good bang for the buck.
  • Makes the work flow easier by being able to extract data faster.
  • Quick for my team to learn how to use.
  • Lots of data. Really really lots of data.
  • Good for general SEM and SEO work. Nice overall for nationwide campaigns. Since we are not uber local, no worries on the lack of the data there
