Workboard is a versatile software that offers numerous use cases for individuals and organizations. Users have found value in aligning their goals with company objectives, enabling better planning and tracking of key results. The software promotes transparency and collaboration, allowing users to see how their work aligns with company goals and impacts project success. It eliminates the need for multiple tools by consolidating various work tracking methods, such as HR goal tracking, kanban boards, email, sticky notes, whiteboarding, and micro-managing. Users appreciate the visual storytelling capabilities of Workboard, which allows them to effectively communicate business and team results without relying on spreadsheets or subjective scoring. By opening up lines of communication across different functions, Workboard helps employees understand the larger ecosystem they are a part of and encourages them to take ownership of their ideas for implementing change.

One of the main highlights of Workboard is its support for the implementation of OKR metrics - Objectives and Key Results. Users have found success in creating and tracking OKRs, achieving alignment across the company and within their teams. This contributes to driving efficient business strategy management. Workboard also helps solve various business problems such as time and project management, ownership and accountability, innovation, analytics-driven decision making, customer success, organizational skills, and clear communication. The software provides clear visibility into goals, facilitates collaboration among work groups, streamlines meeting agendas, tracks progress, and supports operational processes.

Overall, Workboard has been well-received by users who appreciate its ability to align goals with company objectives, foster transparency and collaboration, consolidate work tracking methods, support OKR metrics implementation, and solve various business problems.

This feature is highly valued by users as it helps them keep track of important conversations and decisions made over time.

Transparency provided throughout the organization: The transparency provided by Workboard is loved by users, as it allows them to see the tasks and key results of others that are dependent on them, and vice versa. This transparency fosters collaboration, accountability, and alignment within teams and across the organization.

Scheduling of 1:1s and assigning objectives or key results: Users find the scheduling of 1:1s and assigning of objectives or key results in Workboard great for keeping teams aligned and on task. It helps facilitate regular communication between team members, ensures clarity on priorities, and promotes goal-oriented work.

Confusing User Interface and Navigation: Some users have found the user interface of WoBo to be perplexing and challenging to navigate, making tasks more difficult. They felt that the app might not have been thoroughly tested by its creators. The interface was also described as awkward and unwieldy, particularly for new users who struggled with learning and navigating it.

Limited Range of Products for Updating Results: Users expressed frustrations about the restricted selection of products available in WoBo for updating results, leading to manual data entry and dissatisfaction. Some users mentioned difficulties in finding Key Results from other organizations, highlighting a need for improved navigation and clarity within the interface.

Steep Learning Curve: Several users experienced a steep learning curve with WoBo, requiring multiple training sessions. They would have preferred a more intuitive onboarding process. Despite these challenges, users acknowledged the responsiveness of the WoBo team in addressing issues and providing assistance when needed.

Users commonly recommend the following:

  1. Engage in a discussion with the Workboard team to discuss specific needs and objectives. They also suggest attending OKR certification training offered by Workboard to gain a deeper understanding of the OKR framework.

  2. Seek guidance and support from Workboard's customer service team when setting up OKRs. Users also recommend requesting a demo and reaching out to individuals like Deidre Paknad for additional information.

  3. Start with a smaller scope and gradually expand. Begin by implementing Workboard with the leadership team and remain open-minded, asking questions along the way. Users also recommend utilizing the free trial to explore Workboard's features, piloting it with a smaller team, and evaluating results before scaling up.

Overall, users believe that discussing needs, attending training, seeking support, starting small, and gradually scaling up are effective strategies for successfully implementing and leveraging Workboard's capabilities.

We've been using Workboard to help us set goals and OKR's within our business unit and the broader organization. Prior to Workboard, set had a very fragmented way of developing, setting and tracking our OKR's which lead to lost time and delayed reporting every quarter. Workboard has allowed us to spend more time focusing on setting and tracking rather than organizing goals and OKR's.
  • Setting clear goals and OKR's.
  • Tracking against deliverables.
  • Reporting.
  • There's a bit of a ramp time to using the service.
Workboard is well suited in any organization IMO, it allows the individual business units to quickly set, define, organize and track their respective OKR's and align them with the larger business goals. The speed at which we're able to do this with Workboard has allowed us to spend more time on the goals themselves and less time on the management of the goal-setting exercise.
  • Amount of time saved for managing goals had allowed us to spend more time on goal setting and tracking.

We use Workboard across the company mainly for project management, meaning:
- work breakdown in smaller tasks
- assigning tasks to people
- monitoring the progress of the work
- project status reporting to higher management levels
We have realized that for non-technical teams(like the software development team is), Workboard provides a nice and clean way for managing the projects by improving the team member's sense of ownership with more collaboration(possible in the tool) which causes a more results oriented attitude.
  • Project management at higher level - includes tasks assignment, visual representations of the project status and deadlines
  • Increases the team members' sense of ownership - especially for people that are not used with or exposed to dedicated project management tools like Microsoft Project is.
  • User collaboration - which in turn reduces the communication via email
  • Increases the efficiency of the meetings - by quickly going through the action items and updating the task progress in the tool itself
  • Support has been outstanding so far
  • We have seen some slowness of the User Interface sometimes
  • It is not as straightforward to use for beginners. People need to be trained to benefit from the whole features of Workboard
  • On a personal note, I am used to more advanced project management tools, like Microsoft Project, I especially like their timeline view, shared resources, gantt chart etc.
  • With adding more and more features, it tends to be more complicated and harder to be used by non software development people. In my view this is the biggest advantage that Workboard has at the moment.
Project management at a higher level for non technical teams would work best in Workboard. It has nice visualization of the tasks (My Work), project objectives, deadlines, action items which all people appreciate. Using Workboard will keep the team on the same page, will increase its focus on the deadlines resulting in the productivity increase.
But, if you need stronger project management for software development projects, where methodologies evolve quickly, you may need to look for other tools.
  • Using Workboard improved the project management for non software projects, like finance, HR or supply chain.
  • It increased the people's sense of ownership, making them think about results and deliveries on time.
  • It made project status reports easier.
  • Reduced communication via email.
  • Eliminated the usage of out of sync Excel files, offline tracking of action items.
Workboard vs Microsoft Project(and its Server) is like comparing a regular sport car with Formula 1 cars. One is lighter, nicer, with a broader audience, it gets you there fast while the other one is dedicated, not as nice, especially built for it, not for everyone and it will get you there much faster.
