We use Zola Suite as an everyday tool to record billable hours, document client services, monitor staff activities, monitor staff billing, generate invoices, and make sure new matters don't fall through the cracks. Since the notes are searchable, we are also able to mention certain contacts for certain matters and then pull up that information later, as needed. It's actually faster than Salesforce for some of those sorts of tasks.
  • Provide me with instant list of assignments.
  • Easily record billable hours.
  • Monitor the work of colleagues whom I supervise.
  • The email integration feature has never consistently worked.
  • I can't toggle easily between viewing all time and just my time, have to use the filters.
  • Pulling reports to capture certain notes/details not perfected yet.
Well-suited to a small to midsized law firm setting. Would also recommend for management seek easy ways to keep track of a large volume of business and to track which staff are doing what. The software isn't the best suited for running a lot of complex reports--we can obtain simple information in the reports, but sometimes we find ourselves pulling certain data from Zola and working with it in other software environments instead.
  • Billable hours tracking.
  • Ability to pull reports for each assigned attorney.
  • Ability to enter details in the notes section.
  • Collections have been better overall.
  • Verifying staff work has been made much easier, potentially leading to more efficiencies.
  • The software itself is costly.
I didn't have the ultimate decision-making power to choose Zola. Clio was more expensive and may have offered a more robust platform, but with some options we didn't need. Westlaw was good for case management, but we would have likely still needed separate software to patch together something like Zola. Zola support isn't that great, but we rarely need it.

Everyone from admin, attorneys (associates up to partners) to office management. Some of the reports we generate are used by the outside marketing vendor we employ. The finance team involved with collections uses Zola. Colleagues use when another colleague has gone on vacation, great way to track activity and have transparency.

Our regular IT consultant helps with Zola Suite. We also have a knowledgeable office manager and paralegals who are familiar enough with the software to resolve most problems. Obviously, if there are outages related to the software's website, that's out of our control, and we rely heavily on the company to rectify the situation with urgency since our day-to-day firm business is heavily reliant on Zola.
  • Tracking time.
  • Tracking activities.
  • Tracking payments.
  • Creating vacation memos.
  • Helping team managers monitor staff's daily activities.
  • Store names and contact info in easily searchable notes format.
