Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our journey with Zscaler started in 2019. Initially started as a web proxy. Now we are using it on many fronts, SaaS security, asset identification, etc., we are using Genai, DLP Prime, and web access logs. It is one of the critical security tools we use in our environments. We also use browser isolation and deception.

Pros

  • URL categorization.
  • SaaS asset identification.
  • Web proxy.

Cons

  • Latency reduction.
  • Captive portal challenges.
  • Better experience for browser isolation. It should look like island browser.
  • Provide features like a password vault.

Return on Investment

  • Improved security.
  • No hub and spoke.
  • Increase in visibility.

Great Easy-To-Use Always-On VPN for the internet.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's an easy-to-use, always-on VPN for securing internet-bound traffic. It provides better performance than a traditional VPN to our data center. And the tools and management interface are fantastic. Provides us with better metrics and visibility into our users' internet traffic and the data they are putting into public LLMs, and is a great solution for both on-prem and remote workers.

Pros

  • AI data Insights -- what data are users putting into public AIs.
  • Ease of use.
  • Great reporting and troubleshooting tools built-in.

Cons

  • The Linux and Mac clients does not play well with other 3rd party VPN systems.
  • The traffic logs, no ability to save your visible columns and layout.

Return on Investment

  • Huge savings versus on-prem firewalls with maintenance and licensing costs.
  • Easy to deploy and update the PC client.

Zero trust at scale.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Securing my remote workforce at scale was the primary reason we chose Zscaler. Now that the workforce is hybrid, it is seamless to apply the same policy to users whether they are remote, in an office, or at any other corporate location. As a global company, the solution Zscaler offered us, with minimal in-house infrastructure deployment and best-in-class protection, was excellent to meet our growing global business.

Pros

  • Internet security/Url Filtering.
  • CASB and App usage reporting.
  • Inline DLP discovery.
  • Sandboxing for files.

Cons

  • DLP tagging and remediation.
  • Cloud app instance visibility (e.g., which SharePoint instances are my users accessing).
  • SSL inspection for web-sockets, for certificate pinned apps on the Mac.

Return on Investment

  • The platform is very stable so time to manage the platform from day 2 is very good.
  • The integration it has with all partners is also excellent.
