ReportMiner has proven to be a versatile and efficient tool for various data extraction and manipulation tasks. Users have successfully converted large volumes of PDFs into Excel spreadsheets, allowing for easier analysis and processing. From converting customer purchase orders to extracting data from lab reports, the software has improved efficiency and accuracy in handling different types of file formats.

Customers have also utilized ReportMiner to automate report generation, eliminating the need for manual steps. The software has been praised for its ability to reformat files, extract specific parts for import into other systems, and transform files from PDF to desired formats. Users have found it relatively intuitive to use, although some improvements could be made to the documentation.

The product's customization options and outstanding customer service have garnered recommendations from satisfied customers. While some users experienced difficulties with downloading and setting up the software, the helpful customer service team promptly resolved these issues. Overall, ReportMiner has significantly increased efficiency and improved data analysis capabilities for users, whether it's converting printed PDF reports or digitizing monthly documents.

Easily converts PDFs into text: Users have found that ReportMiner excels at converting PDF documents into text, even in situations where the PDF has a complicated format. Many reviewers mentioned that they were able to address every scenario they encountered, which was not possible with other services like PDF Focus and Azure Form Recognizer.

Efficient template creation for data extraction: The ability to create templates and quickly extract data from incoming PDFs is highly appreciated by users. This feature significantly reduces the time spent on data extraction according to multiple reviewers.

User-friendly and flexible: Users highlight the user-friendliness and flexibility of ReportMiner. They find it easy and flexible to work with, making it a cost-effective solution as they don't need to rely heavily on technical support. Several reviewers mention this aspect positively.

Cons:

  1. Mac Compatibility: Some users have mentioned that the tool is not available for Mac, limiting its accessibility to a significant portion of potential users who prefer or exclusively use Mac devices.
  2. Learning Curve and Dependence on IT Support: Several reviewers have expressed uncertainty about whether business users can effectively use the tool without IT support due to a learning curve in using the software. This reliance on IT support may hinder the autonomy of business users and potentially slow down their workflow.

  • Efficient data extraction
  • Customizable model training
  • Support different file format
  • Natural language processing for extraction information
It is well suited to extract data from well-structured reports or documents. It can be challenging when document data does not always follow an exact structure.

In our organization we use Astera ReportMiner to combine data in Excel Columns that come from multiple Excel files to gather analytical insights on business operations. In this way we are able to collate massive amounts of data into a single Excel sheet, saving hours of time. The use of the product is very streamline and simple so onboarding new users to the platform is a fast process as well. Astera ReportMiner works great with EMR data exports and any other financial/operational data where exports may have different column header labels, where the data in the columns is uniform and can be combined under new labels. Astera ReportMiner also validates data or helps transform/clean data so in the event data is not uniform there are tools to make it so. This makes combined data more easily ready for Excel actions such as creating pivot tables, ensuring quick uniformity for more complicated tasks.
  • Cleanse and Transform data to ensure uniformity and then validate it to check the work was done correctly.
  • Great UI to select Excel Files that need to be combined and what columns need to be merged and renamed.
  • Fast platform that does not take a long time to process, runs well without being to much of a hamper on system resources.
  • Quick to teach and onboard new users.
  • Could provide some features to help with advanced analytics for big data. (i.e. larger data sets)
  • Too much clutter on their Youtube page, they should highlight the tutorials so they are easier to find for new users. Get rid of old tutorial video playlists so the organization is clean and up to date.
  • Have sales rep follow up with customers to offer product updates, new product releases, and do check ins to see if customers have suggestions for feature improvement.
Astera ReportMiner is well suited for those who work with EMR Data or business operations data where different platforms may report on similar data but not everything is the same between the different systems and how they export their data. It works especially well when systems can't edit their exports so you need to clean up data a lot before they are combined into a single file. It is less appropriate a solution when you are trying to combine large data, let's say thousands of files and need some sort of platform to deduce analytic patterns out of it. This is more used for data preparedness rather than big data analysis. This may have changed with recent updates, however they do not do a good job of updating customers on new releases so keeping track of their developments is something worth doing if data management is an important part of your/your company's role.

I use Astera ReportMiner to convert certain accounting, billing, and remittance advice PDFs to excel. This software has significantly increased our efficiency and has given us the ability to find, sort, and analyze data from large PDFs in excel, which we were previously unable to do. IT has helped us locate denial information and trends and helped us with our accounts receivable aging.
  • Easy to use software for non-coders
  • Excellent updates
  • Great support team
  • Stop or slow down yearly subscription price increases
  • User manual provided when ordering subscription
Best to use on PDFs that are not uniform and hard to convert to excel otherwise. More straightforward PDFs can be exported without this software.

We get pdf reports that have one record of information on multiple lines. With ReportMiner we can easily harvest the information we need out of the report and put it in Excel. It is a great product that saves us time.
  • Turn multi line pdf into an Excel file.
  • Allows us to us to select just the data we need.
  • Support was very helpful with a really hard pdf conversion.
  • Have not found anything at this time.
Is the record on multiple lines? If yes you will need ReportMiner. If the record is all on one line, you can use a copier that scans to Excel to get a quick file.

ReportMiner is being used to digitize a large volume of PDF documents that we receive monthly. Our office runs lean, so I am currently the only person who uses the program. Data entry is a tedious, error prone task that takes up too much time. With a program like Report Miner, one is able to save time and also be able to trust quality of the data.
  • ReportMiner's OCR accuracy is flawless to my experience. I use the program to pull values from check details, and have yet to find an error.
  • ReportMiner's interface is easy to learn. I never even got formal training on the program. I watched some YouTube videos and learned as I went.
  • ReportMiner training personnel is very knowledgeable and quick to respond. Anytime I ran into a problem I could not figure out on my own, they would get back with me within a half a day.
  • The only weakness I have seen with ReportMiner is they do not offer some features I personally would like to see. This is only because I need to manipulate the data in ways that ReportMiner would not have been able to forsee a customer needing the program for.
ReportMiner is well suited for digitizing PDFs that includes data that follows a pattern such as a bank statement. It saves a bunch of time to make one report that will be able to be used each month for that bank. The program would not be useful if you had to spend the time making a new report each month for a new bank with a few lines of data.
