Overall Satisfaction with Datto SIRIS
I manage a fleet of Datto appliances (Siris, Alto, etc.) for our clientele. I make sure that our clients' servers/workstations backup on their regular schedule and resolve issues with those backups as they arise. The Datto appliances serve as our clients' backup (business continuity) and disaster recovery repositories. The appliances test the backups to confirm that they are solid and sends these backups offsite to Datto's Cloud to ensure that if anything happens locally the data is still available. The appliances and Datto Cloud also allow for the virtualization of backups in the case that a server encounters an issue and is taken offline.
- Backup
- File/Volume/Server Recovery
- Offsite Backups for added data protection
- Datto is constantly making improvements to their service, however, implementing needed changes sometimes takes more time than I like.
- In most cases, Datto will provide the appliance free of charge with a 3-5 year contract which results in a modest monthly fee instead of a large initial outlay and monthly fees.
- The contract's warranty is top-notch. Failed drives or issues with the appliances are replaced/corrected with free replacements and shipping.
In my experience with Veeam, you have to supply your own storage while the Datto appliance is a self-contained solution.

Yes - It took a prolonged period of time to obtain a solution, but one was implemented and seems to have resolved the bug.
During Hurricane Harvey, Datto was onsite in Houston helping their clients obtain data. They setup temporary cloud connections where servers were virtualized to insure that business could continue in the aftermath of the storm.
