Overall Satisfaction with Weebly
I use Weebly as a student portfolio resource. Students use Weebly to construct a website to post blogs and completed assignments as a way of documenting their learning throughout the semester. Students can also use Weebly to set up a demo reel.
- User-friendly; simple interface
- Awesome free templates to get students started quickly.
- Allows for customizing
- Pre-made template banners are hard to customize. Before the update, you could hover over a banner, obtain the pixel dimensions and recreate a customized banner on your own. Now, that feature has been taken away.
- Greater selection of free images for educational use.
- Weebly is a positive resource in my overall instructional objective: to have students document their learning via a digital portfolio.
- Blogger and WordPress
I tried WordPress and Blogger.
Weebly is free for educational use....always a plus. Support is good and timely; even for free users.
- WordPress: a bit more complicated to use and not as user-friendly. I tried it 2 years ago. Not a fan. It may have improved since then.
- Blogger: Weebly is more efficient and easier to use: also you get to do more with Weebly than just a blog. So, it really depends on what you are looking for.
