Users rely on afi.ai to securely back up their Microsoft 365 ExchangeOnline, SharePoint Online, and Teams data for their entire organization, ensuring a reliable copy of all important information and communications. This is particularly valuable during the COVID-19 pandemic and remote work scenarios as it helps mitigate user errors and reduces the burden on the helpdesk team. IT teams have administrative access to manage backups and execute restores, while regular Office 365 users can recover their own data through the afi self-service portal. The software also supports backup and automation of G Suite Team Drives and Drives across the organization, with customizable frequency and retention settings.

afi.ai is highly appreciated for its ease of use, efficiency, and fast data recovery capabilities. The self-service feature empowers end-users to independently handle basic restore and data download operations. The search functionality within the platform is particularly helpful in quickly locating specific documents. Users who switched from local systems to afi.ai note that it offers faster performance and stronger security measures compared to traditional on-premises solutions. Additionally, organizations value the ability of afi.ai to backup and archive deleted Microsoft 365 users, providing a reliable solution for data recovery after an employee departure. This not only saves time for the help desk team but also provides an additional layer of protection against ransomware attacks and hardware failures.

Based on user reviews, there are several recommendations for this backup solution:

  • It is recommended to run a proof of concept (PoC) and reach out to the sales team for assistance. Users have found it beneficial to conduct a PoC to test the product's compatibility with their specific needs. They also highlight that the sales team is very responsive in offering guidance and support.

  • Users suggest evaluating your backup needs and comparing this solution with other vendors. It is important to carefully assess your requirements and consider other options in the market before making a decision. This will help ensure that you choose the best fit for your organization.

  • Take advantage of the unique feature that provides a single user interface (UI) for both Office 365 and G Suite. Users appreciate this capability as it simplifies their backup processes by offering a unified UI experience for multiple platforms.

Overall, users recommend reaching out to the sales team for assistance, evaluating different vendors, and taking advantage of the single UI feature while considering this backup solution. Additionally, they emphasize engaging in a proof of concept, switching from older vendors early, and conducting trials to compare UI, speed, and backup/recovery success rates.

We use afi to backup Exchange Online, SharePoint sites and Teams data (chats and documents) for all employees with a 3 years retention policy. We also archive data of employees who left the company for 5 years for compliance reasons. The service provides self-service capability allowing our end-user to handle basic restore and data download operations themself.
  • Support for all data types in M365
  • Ease of use
  • Reliability
  • Self-service for end-users
  • Security and ransomware detection

  • Support for MS Planner is not there yet
1. Data backup for Exchange Online, SharePoint and Teams works very well and reliable. 2. MS Teams support is good, which includes Private channels. 3. Excellent security options ( ransomware detection, encryption keys hosted by us) 4. Self service for end users is a huge time saver for our helpdesk team 5. We kill two birds with one stone with user archiving, compliance and cost savings on MS licenses.

  • Self-service
  • Data backed up and protected

  • Reduced load on our helpdesk team
afi is next generation system, with our previous vendor we had to wait for a long time to access data, sometimes up to 24h.The reason for that was our scale according to the support team. ( 50TB +) With afi it takes a few seconds. The UI is super simple and easy to use, no training required for end-users to work with the system. afi support is super responsive and very helpful.

We use afi.ai for several departments here in the U.S.--mostly to protect the most important SharePoint data. The tool is quite easy to use and very efficient; recovering several documents takes literally a few seconds. Search is a really good help when you try to find some specific document.
  • SharePoint sites backup and recovery
  • Anti-ransomware feature
  • Reporting in MS Teams is neat
  • It would be handy to have SharePoint file versions comparisons in the UI
  • Email alerts on settings changes would be good to have too.
SharePoint online backup for data protection with a self service option and anti-ransomware. afi.ai works great, as all data is protected including MS Lists that you can even preview in the backup tool without restoring. Reporting is very good and transparent; you can integrate it with MS Teams for immediate notifications. Data archiving is included at no additional cost.
  • SPO backup and recovery
  • Anti-ransomware feature
  • Now we have a simple way to recover lost and deleted files.

Switched to cloud to cloud backup a little more than a year ago. We used on-prem DC and local vendors, like Veritas and Veeam to backup M365. Before the switch we tested more than 5 solutions, and found most of them very slow and lacking on the security side of things, especially bring your own encryption functionality is very rare. With Afi the POC was very smooth and we decided to give it a go.
Works like a charm for 1+ years now for 15k+ users.
  • Security
  • Ransomware protection
  • Data recovery
  • Monitoring integrations
  • Documentation
  • Multi-region data storage
  • Backup and recovery are reliable and fast. We run automatic tests using API, and we had 0 failed recoveries for far.
  • Self-recovery options for employees
  • Data archiving works great and can be automated ( revoke a license in M365, the user gets automatically archived in
  • Backup and recovery reliability
  • Security ( BYOK, OKTA)
  • Ransomware protecction
  • Savings on local HW and ops.
  • Compliance and archiving is automatic
Veritas is an old no-go monster, slow, clunky and unpredictable.
Veeam is good, we use it for on-prem Hyper-V clusters. As for M365 - AFI is much cheaper, low maintenance, and easier to use.

We use afi.ai to back up SharePoint and Teams data, as well as to archive Mailbox and Drive for departed employees for compliance purposes. It adds another tool to our toolkit against potential ransomware attack or hardware failure. Self-service recovery is great, as it saves quite some time for our help desk team. We replaced our local system with this cloud service
  • Backup and recovery is very fast
  • Reliable recovery
  • Easy to use
  • Ransomware detection
  • Documentation could be better
  • Data protection, off-site backup
  • Ransomware protection
  • Data archiving is much cheaper than with Microsoft
  • Reliable backup and recovery
  • Ransomware protection
  • afi.ai saved our asses many times when data was lost in Microsoft 365
  • Self service reduces cost of support significantly
Veeam requires you to maintain local hardware infrastructure (backup server, storage), which adds significant cost. Local is less secure, as its hosted in the same primary infrastructure. It doesn't scale well; we had to install an additional backup server per 3,000 user groups.
