Bombora provides Intent data for B2B marketers. Bombora’s data promises to align marketing and sales teams and enable them to base their actions on the knowledge of which companies are in market for products and services. Bombora’s Company Surge™ data reports on changes in consumption of specific product related topics from within businesses. The source of this data is a co-operative of premium B2B media companies in the world. Members contribute content consumption and behavioral data about their audiences. In turn, they can better understand their audiences, serve advertisers and monetize their inventory.

Bombora offers three products: Company Surge™ Analytics, Audience Solutions, and Measurement.

Company Surge™ aggregates the content consumption activity of millions of B2B organizations and informs you when target organizations are showing an increase in consumption, therefore indicating active demand for your products or services.

Audience Solutions allows businesses to effortlessly execute ABM strategies by incorporating Bombora’s audiences and Company Surge™ data into a preferred media activation partner and reach target accounts across every channel.

Bombora is used for account identification, prioritization, and intent-based targeting. It is being used by Sales currently and would be used by marketing too. It addresses the business case of identifying the right target prospects based on the right intent at the right time. Sales can now be very focused with their targeting approach.

  • Integrating with CRM to have a consolidated view
  • Website visitor tracking needs to be improved
  • Better UI with version management of templates would help in usability
  • Mapping SDR activities with Bombora topics would be really helpful (Reporting and Dashboards)
Scenarios where it is well suited: If you are having a laundry list of target markets and you need to identify whom to prioritize. Scenario where it is less appropriate: If your target market is very less and you know these are the enterprises/exhaustive list you are anyways going to target without prioritization

Our Client Services department at PrograMetrix uses Bombora's technology and proprietary data sets to drive campaign insights and to improve campaign performance for our B2B clients. Bombora's tools and data help our clients target high-value business accounts, helps our clients understand which brands visit their website, and it helps our clients report on key accounts that have been exposed to our B2B programmatic campaigns that later convert. Overall, Bombora's technology and data sets help our clients better target B2B accounts on their sales/marketing lists and help improve reporting for paid media campaigns.

Bombora is an industry-leading solution for B2B marketers and agencies that are trying to find better ways to target key decision-makers on a targeted "account list" or account-based marketing (ABM). To best leverage Bombora's technology, companies should be prepared to purchase Company Surge data and integrate Bombora's reporting tools. If B2B brands don't have the budget to invest in Bombora's full suite of solutions, they should instead opt to purchase "stock" Bombora B2B data segments from mainstream DSPs.

Bombora gives us a lens into companies looking at solutions we sell, like new logo opportunities, add-on products as cross-sell/ up-sell opportunities, current clients looking at our competitors (churn risk), and it also helps us with topics for webcasts and education events. We are using this as a key piece of or ABM stack and I have used it in the past at another company, I put it in here and we saw results right away. Our Marketing Team uses LinkedIn campaigns to assist our front line Sales Team and BDRs, we are seeing 2X-3X better click-through results with Bombora campaigns v. others.
  • Account level buyer intent
  • Blind spots on products /service needed
  • Policy/laws as sales catalysts
  • Geography/location of decision makers
  • Update data at the beginning and end of the week.
  • Salesforce Classic is friendly for those companies transitioning.
  • Clarity on the word clouds. The topics come from for marketing teams.
Bombora is perfect for a Salesforce Lightning Experience org or a well built out HubSpot org. The accounts need to be deduped and I suggest having a specific and clean "Bombora" domain to key in on the subset of accounts that have been tested. For topics, I recommend trying some that tie to named competitors and your product subjects/pain points they solve for your customers. Bombora is not a magic button, but when used as part of an ABM package, you can really see results quickly and focus on Accounts that are focused on your products/services.
Our CSM team is always available for us to meet with via an outreach click to book an invite and we have standing meetings. They met with us on day 1 of implementation and had us up and running that evening. They even go to the lengths of matching industry tenured folks with us to help us move faster.

We purchased Bombora's growth package with 25 intent topics and the Salesforce integration. We are using the company surge intent data to uncover companies in our total addressable market that are consuming digital content that is relevant to our products and categories we play in. It allows us to prioritize accounts that are showing interest from a sales and marketing perspective.

Bombora is the OG in intent data. They have a wide co-op and many topics they are tracking. Bombora is well suited in uncovering account level intent data on relevant topics to your organization. You can see each surging topics at each account and roll those up to an account average to use in an account scoring model.
I will gave the customer success team an 8 as they are pretty responsive and the implementation manager was very helpful to get us setup in Salesforce. Our rep was great but can be a little pushy, like many other tech sales reps. Overall a decent experience. If I were to go to a new company and they did not have intent data, I'd reach back out to my rep again.

We used Bombora's Surge Score software to measure the buying intent of prospect accounts. We are 100% account-based for marketing and sales. Bombora's plugin in Crunchbase really helped us gather good data around our target accounts. It was great and convenient to have it right within Crunchbase as well. It was not a perfect tool (part of the reason we switched), but it did pretty well. It was great for our crawl, walk, run approach to shifting to ABM.
  • Great integration in Crunchbase.
  • Good surging intent data.
  • Good search categories for standard business segments and industries (though not the best for ours which is not standard).
  • We sell enterprise solutions to Channel Sales professionals. Channel sales proved to be too nuanced for Bombora's standard marketing and sales segmentation approach.
  • I believe Bombora is built on the Clearbit platform to show data by the company. In our experience, Clearbit has shown to be much less accurate than alternatives. This gave us more false data than we would have hoped.
  • The categories that Bombora uses for search and intent data were not very relevant to Channel Sales (probably too nuanced). It would be great for SEO companies, sales enablement companies, marketing agencies, etc.
In truth, I have recommended Bombora to colleagues. It was a great stepping stone for us and would be for many other companies out there. For many, it might even be the perfect end solution. It is quite a bit less expensive than our current solution, but it also didn't meet all of our needs. Perhaps in a future version of the product.

  • The UI is comprehensive and easy to use
  • The Client Success team is fantastic
  • The technology runs on hard data
  • Cheaper than competitors
  • The surging data is at the company level, not individual level, which can be misleading for larger target accounts
  • The data only refreshes once per week
  • You can not see how companies trend over time past week-over-week
Bombora is good for determining target audience, for Account Based Marketing campaigns, educating sales and marketing teams on what is relevant to an account. Bombora helps companies with smaller budgets spend smarter. The platform is less relevant for broad awareness campaigns as the data determines who is actively interested in your industry/product offerings in the current moment.
