In my previous position in another department, I used Sprout Social.,Mobile App is very intuitive
Easy to schedule content
It is very simple to add social media accounts,The analytics are not as smooth and intuitive. It is certainly better than previous versions.
The reports need to have clearer titles and filter items.
The analytics screen tabs need to be smaller in size.,8,1,It saves time and money by manually publishing information.

The main benefit this provides is allowing us to line up multiple posts ahead-of-time and schedule them to go out. This is particularly useful in the music industry because you can schedule several posts to go out prior to a concert, and even up to the starting moment of the event to drive more attendees.,Integrations work flawlessly with no issues or needing to reconnect things incessantly.
Very reliable and consistent platform compared to cheaper alternatives.
It does a very good job of allowing you to put the most important information that you need front-and-center.,I personally don't like the way Hootsuite displays multiple social channels on the interface. It's very utilitarian and it does have a modern look, but there's just something about the multiple column look that really bugs me. It feels a bit dated and cluttered.
I've used both the free and the pro versions before. Pro is somewhat overpriced for the value that it provides and the free version limits you to too few social profiles which puts you in a position to either overpay or go to another option like Buffer which is cheaper but isn't as reliable. I'd say somewhere around $12-15/mo. would make the single-user Pro tier more palatable.,8,2,Hootsuite saves us approximately 2 person hours each week by enabling quick and efficient scheduling of content across different social channels.
The analytics offered in Hootsuite provides a clean, easy-to-consume dashboard that provides high-level insight into the performance of social posts. If you're not heavily invested in social as a lead-gen channel (we're not), this is a great view to get an idea of how engaging your content is without going too in-depth.
Amalgamating social channels under a single platform has made it really easy to curate content and cross-pollinate across channels. I love Hootsuite because I can see my post before I schedule it to go live, which allows me perfect my messaging.
Hootsuite allows me to page through my social platforms, see the activity on my page, upcoming scheduled posts and what others are posting. This really keeps everything in front of me to help manage all of the different social platforms I manage.,I wish Hootsuite would update their Facebook feed icon. Currently, it shows as a flag, which is very confusing when trying to manage multiple platforms. For example, twitter is the bird icon which makes it super easy to identify that it is Twitter... no guessing games.
To view all of my posts in the planner page, I would like to see the whole month, versus only showing weekly. It's a strong asset to see your scheduled posts on a calendar, but to see the entire month would be most beneficial.
When you are already viewing your streams for facebook, twitter, etc., I wish Hootsuite would automatically refresh new feed, rather than me having to click to refresh the stream.,9,5,Hootsuite has really saved us time, which is the most important positive impact in my opinion. When you are super busy, you always need more time!

The problem that it addresses is that in today's age of constant information overload, we as a company do not want to be drowned out of the social media picture, but we don't want to have to employ someone to constantly be posting and/or monitoring.
Hootsuite specifically allows us to develop a strategy for the day, week or month, including holiday messages and other posts that can be planned in advance. We then develop and prepare the posts and let Hootsuite do the actual posting at appropriate times so that our team members can move along to something else. We know that the post will show in our company feeds at the predetermined time, sometimes, for example, on holidays when no one is working, which is, in fact, the origin of our Hootsuite usage.,Schedules social media posts - it is easy and efficient and once you have completed you can walk away knowing it will be done properly.

Social channel integration. All of the major channels are integrated with the tool, making it easy to sign in and start using it.,Photo editing. The editing capabilities are rather minimal. We typically had to edit our photos and make changes to them outside of the tool before using them.
No functionality to post multiple photos to a channel like Instagram or Facebook. You can only post a single photo at a time, which is not ideal for some types of posts.

Like them all, if you wish to schedule a post with multiple images, you have to schedule it directly on Facebook or on Tweetdeck for Twitter. That creates additional redundancies - unfortunately, I don't believe there is anything Hootsuite can do about that, as this is an issue with other competitor platforms.
I would love to see more robust reporting features - I often have to take the time to extract the data I am looking for to create the reports I want, which is inefficient.,8,1,Hootsuite removes the somewhat nebulous idea that Social Media is superfluous, which can be difficult for older organizations to grasp.

It's used by every member of my team. Hootsuite allows us to schedule ever green content far into the future while still consistently adding time sensitive content whenever its needed. With the scheduling feature, my team is allowed to manage most social network tasks in minimal time- all at glance.,Hootsuite Pro excels with their dashboard organization. For our purposes we do very well with the 20 tabs with ten streams in each tab. This allows us to create different dashboards for specific purposes- its easily customize-able to suit our needs. We are able to group streams by network and/or by brand. Further, it's a snap to monitor influences and track keywords and hashtags as well. Other social media management tools don't allow near as much flexibility.
Unlike other social tools, Hootsuite Pro has an extensive app directory that allows brands to include tumblr, blogger, sound cloud, stumble upon, Pinterest via tailwind in their dashboard. Past that, their app directory includes an impressive number of services for further dashboard capabilities and increases productivity options. Popular services such as Trello, Slack, Reddit, Pocket, Flipboard, Dropbox, Evernote, SugarCRM and many, many other services are integrated into the dashboard via apps. Hootsuite Pro can handle a large portion your marketing needs.
While Hootsuite offers several packages, marketing bundles, services, and add-ons, to accommodate larger companies at an enterprise level also- - the Pro package is perfect for small to mid-level companies with many features and capabilities at a price that beats the cost of most social media marketing tools available.,When I first began using Hotsuite Pro, the allowed social accounts were unlimited. As their offerings increased, the number of social accounts available to Pro account users dropped to 50. Granted, 50 social networks is more than sufficient for most small companies the number is too small for companies managing multiple brands with multiple profiles. It's perfectly acceptable to offer a package with a 50 profile allotment- most social management tools have limits also. However, those that signed up for the Pro account with unlimited profiles felt a sting when the number was dropped, without warning, to 50. As for us, managing six brands, each with multiple social profiles, and a few of those brands have multiple profiles on the same network to address customer service, sales, and/or vetch. support. For a time, we thought we would need to purchase add-ons to meet our needs. While we love the services, technically the service offers less that what it did when I signed up.
Hootsuite Pro only offers one advanced analytics report each month. You can purchase additional reports or build custom reports. However, what's offered isn't sufficient for the allowed social profiles. The analytic capabilities exist in Hootsuite, but the Pro package doesn't offer enough reports to handle extensive analytic reporting needed for future planning. Yes, these are available as add-ons- but the Pro package will never be a stand alone social media marketing tool until more reports are available.
In the past, Hootsuite Pro included Linked In Company Pages, and groups as well as individual profiles. Pages and groups are no longer included so.

I first evaluated Hootsuite seven years ago in a past life. I evaluated it against Buffer and Sprout Social. I found it to be generally better than Buffer in most ways. I like Buffer's clean interface more but it's heavily limited compared to Hootsuite. The pricing of Buffer is better, but you do get what you pay for. We currently use Buffer in my main job and it has reliability issues that Hootsuite does not. I loved Sprout Social and it offered some features that were really cool and an attractive user interface but the pricing was prohibitive for a business that doesn't make quota via social channels. Bottom-line, if you need a low-budget option, probably go with Buffer knowing that you'll have issues—especially with LinkedIn frequently disconnecting itself. If you have the budget and social is a core part of your marketing strategy, I'd say definitely go with Hootsuite. If you have a lot of budget, and social is the main revenue stream for your business, then maybe look at Sprout too.
I have not used anything other than Hootsuite. I honestly haven't looked elsewhere because I am so satisfied with how the system performs. I'm not even sure if I know of others, but haven't bothered looking into it. I'm so happy with Hootsuite, why look anywhere else?!
Hootsuite works better than TweetDeck in that its functionality is greater. However to be fair, it has been a long time since I used the other product, and it may be much different now in terms of functionality. I think that Hootsuite also covers a lot of platforms, and at the time I was using it, TweetDeck only covered Twitter which is not a preferred platform at this time for our business.
We actually use Hootsuite's classroom program along with Meltwater and Google Analytics. By selecting Hootsuite in concert with either Meltwater or Brandwatch, and (at times) Facebook Insights, students can get the real-world feeling of how brands and businesses choose the tools needed to monitor, listen, and communicate with its stakeholders. Having certification from Hootsuite also is a wonderful "feather" in the cap for a student, graduate or undergraduate, on their resume and LinkedIn profile.
Sprout Social has a better UI than Hootsuite. It uses a single feed approach compared to the multi-column layout that allows you to check and uncheck filters based on what you'd like to see at a given moment. Overall, Hootsuite was a better choice for our team given the stronger analytics reporting that it provided. Being in a data-driven business, this was particularly important to us to be able to provide performance metrics to leadership. Both tools are fairly similar, so it really is a toss-up in terms of which you should choose.
Main other tool we looked at was Buffer. While I like both of them, the free version of Hootsuite allowed us to connect to 3 social media platforms and we prefer the calendar and stream layouts for management of activity.
Hootsuite has been an early adopter in the social media dashboard space and continues to add channels and adjust with changes in social media channel's API's. It's relatively low cost for smaller teams, and because it is not limited to one primary social channel, i.e., TweetDeck and Twitter, makes it a low risk, high-reward proposition for our team.
I actually use more than one platform - I use Hootsuite Pro for my smaller customers because I find that it has an accessible price point. Buffer is very comparable, and I use that for clients as well. Moz thus far is my very favorite. If you have the money, there really is not a comparable platform out there. It has amazingly robust reporting and analytics, weekly crawls and rank tracking, an insanely large community to help new people learn the ropes. Really, it is light years above the rest.
We actually find that all of the different social programs help in different ways. I would say Hootsuite Pro is better than Buffer or Sprout Social by far, however, it's not as powerful in analytics or data scraping as their other tool called uberVU, which we also pay for and use daily.
We chose Hootsuite Pro mostly because it is the market leader, our professor suggested it, and it was a better option for what we wanted when compared to AgoraPulse. We were able to use some connections our professor had to get an education discount which worked great for our class project.
It is perfect for those people who want to start managing various social networks, program content and interact with their audience. All from one place. Tweets can be scheduled weeks in advance to help build a continuous fan base. It has powerful team management functions that allow social networks to interact with security.
From a UI perspective, Buffer reigns supreme and Sprout Social has the best reporting/insight options. To be quite honest, Hootsuite is comparable from a content planning and scheduling standpoint as well as a price. At the end of the day, what is preferred for the team who is going to be using the program should be taken into consideration. Do they prefer a nice UI? Are the reporting functions sufficient?
Buffer - integrations weren't as seamless - Hootsuite had just been around longer and was more widely used. Buffer also didn't offer the scheduling options and metrics reports. Hootsuite's interface was much more user-friendly and allowed us to skim feeds on the interface as well.
The competitors I listed have a far more robust, rewarding platform and suite of capabilities. We honestly only use Hootsuite Pro because it is easy, fast and affordable. If I was at a larger agency with more clients doing social programs and scaling/volume was a factor, I would insist on using one of Hootsuite's competitors. But for a small number of clients and simple posting tasks, you really can't beat the simplicity of Hootsuite.
Hootsuite offers more social profiles and many more integration that both Buffer and Sprout Social. At the end of the day, it's the convenience of the extensive integration capabilities of well known services that make Hootsuite Pro an integral piece of our Marketing Technology stack. Hootsuite Pro knows how to play well with others. Further, we use Tailwind with Hootsuite as it integrates well with the Pro package to include Pinterest in our social dashboard.
I like HootSuite a lot more than Buffer. It is just easier to use and very intuitive. We had a new hire pick up HootSuite in less than a week and she had set up our content sources shortly there after. Also their blog is amazing and they are constantly updating it to feature new advice and ways to have success on social.
The only other program like HootSuite that I have used for social media management is a proprietary automation system, and it would be unfair to compare the two. Honestly, HootSuite Pro, in my opinion, is the best tool for the money.
HootSuite Enterprise provides a centralized platform for managing streams from different social media channels and posting/ engaging across channels simultaneously. It also has strong team / workflow features and good mobile apps.
