Craft by InVision is suggested as a companion tool for faster prototyping and importing graphic assets. However, users caution that understanding the pricing structure and permissions for different features is important when using InVision. I used InVision Freehand for holding virtual retrospectives for teammates. Also, story mapping and other agile ceremonies. Lots of team use it for UX design and brainstorming. Many times we need to draw out a mock up and have the teams work around it or with it. The UX person will walk us through the mock up.
  • Easy to use.
  • Lots of plug in options.
  • Better formatting options.
  • Easier to share boards where people do not have to sign in.
  • Do not limit the amount of boards companies can have.
Sharing boards was always an issue. Also, we were only allowed so many freehand boards per project. The main reason we stopped using InVision Freehand is that it only gave us so many admin licenses. We need more and the price was too much to upgrade. Please see into cutting costs for admins.
  • Mock up for UX.
  • Technology mapping.
  • Brainstorming
  • Sharing boards has been a challenge.
  • Having everyone log in in tough.
Figma is far superior. They have templates and great video integration. The template portion is the best. You can choose from many and even have a network of others that are creating templates for people to use. I am sure InVision Freehand has a lot of the same features, but they are not easy to find.
We switched over from InVision Freehand, so currently I do not think anyone uses it. We switched all of our boards over from freehand to Figma. The people that did use it were in the UX department and agile department.

It would have been nice to have a wealth of templates to use or a network of people creating templates. Also, it was a challenge to get people to sign in.
Never seen an outage.

We use InVision Freehand when we are in our design discovery phase. We use it to organize inspiration - like screenshots from other companies/designs we like. We also use it to map out user flows and even some quick prototyping when we are in a meeting to explain an idea.
  • Provides a lot of flexibility
  • Allows you to see others working at the same time as you
  • Integrates well with the rest of the Invision suite
  • When I try moving flows where I have arrows between objects, the arrows stay in the same place
  • Prototyping could be more advanced
  • Ability to change font size verses just resizing the object
I like that InVision Freehand works really well for multiple people when working together. I think the brainstorming capabilities are huge! I also like that it feels like a seamless addition to the InVision suite of tools we already use. I also like that you can group Freehand docs in with the InVision spaces so that teams can represent an entire project together.
  • Post-its
  • Flow diagrams
  • Ability to pull in as many images as we need
  • Commenting
  • Efficiency in terms of keeping a documented source of truth for our team to reference
  • Enables collaboration between team members which leads to stronger ideas
  • Time savings in meetings because it keeps our teams organized and on-task
InVision Freehand has many of the same features as Miro. Many of the templates even seem to be more helpful from Freehand than Miro because they are geared towards designers. Ultimately, we went with Freehand because we were already invested in the Invision+Sketch tools and this was a nice addition.
The people who use the tool to collaborate are on the Product design team - UX Designers, UX Researchers and a UX Manager. We also have Product Managers who jump in and review the boards we create.
Our UX Manager is primarily in charge of adding and adding users to the InVision Freehand tool. She also does this for all of the InVision suite. I don't have as much insight into this process. We also may have people from our internal support and IT teams who need to jump in and help as well.
  • Collaborate with other designers
  • Document our discovery phase
  • Organize our thinking and user flows
  • Collaborative prep work before a meeting
  • Explore more of the templates
Our design team is using InVision and Sketch for all of our prototypes and design systems. Because of this, we look to adopt as many of the other InVision tools as possible. I expect we would continue to use InVision and Freehand in the future as much as we always have.

  • Price
  • Product Features
I would say our company prides itself on having the right tools in our toolbox to get the job done well. While price is important, we'd be willing to invest more in a product if that meant that we got all the right features we need. I would definitely say the features are most important to us.
I would not change my evaluation.
  • Don't know
I was not a part of the implementation so I cannot comment on this but I did not hear any complaints.
I haven't had to use the support team for anything, which is great news because that means the product usually works as expected! In terms of online support, I've been able to find videos that show how new features work. Also, many of the people I work with have experience with the tools so they are a great resource for me.
Not needed
It is a very intuitive platform! I rarely feel confused when I'm using the tool. The only time I've struggled is when I was trying to move around elements that had arrows between them. The arrows seemed to stay pinned on the board and didn't move with everything else the way I expected.
  • Drag and drop images
  • Post-it notes and shapes
  • Using boards for listing of items
  • Arrows between objects
  • Text resizing
  • Moving user flows around

Our team uses Freehand for collaborating with clients, the user interface is easy to learn for new users, and the tool is fast and allows me to mock up a process, attach designs and validate in real-time. Freehand is a flexible tool that integrates well into our workflow. Clients love using it too, we got a lot of positive feedback on how fast we could exchange ideas and iterate. It is a game-changer for us to be able to design and discuss the work in real-time.
  • quick iteration
  • feedback
  • uploading existing work
  • improve speed
  • simpler login for non-licensed users
great for iterative UX work, where asynchronous feedback is necessary. Less appropriate for high-fidelity workflows and complex design scenarios, but it is still useful when we need feedback from clients on individual screens.
  • iterative feedback
  • quick validation
  • faster workflow
  • client satisfaction
  • transparent communication
lighter and faster, less hassle to get to the conversation with the client.

We use InVision Freehand to display all our creative assets. Internal discussions and feedback with the team, and also I use it to present to the client the final designs to get their approval
  • Easy to preview and comment in the board
  • Good sending notifications once you have been tagged in a comment
  • Easy to draw and display assets for review
  • It could be good to have a detailed history to see who commented on a post-it, or when an asset has been added to the board
  • It could be really cool to be able to crop images directly on the board!!
InVision Freehand is a super useful tool when you need to comment job from your design team, as a work in progress space where everyone can post, comment, and draw. Also is good to display all the job for a client's presentation, but I sometimes faced a situation when the client comments in a "post-it" and who posted get lost, also the date and time when this was added.
  • Easy to use
  • Adding pictures, comments and shapes
  • Getting notifications via email
  • Increasing the quality of the job being able to review it at once, easy and quick
  • optimizing team's time with quick calls going through the boards
Easy to implement and use
