Nextpoint has proven to be an invaluable tool for a wide range of e-discovery needs. Users have praised the software's ability to efficiently process pst and mbox files, as well as email attachments, which was previously a challenge with legacy systems like Summation. The advanced analytics provided by Nextpoint have been particularly helpful for privilege review, allowing users to quickly and accurately identify relevant materials. Additionally, the software's cloud-based platform enables quick and easy access to all pertinent materials from anywhere in the world, making it an essential tool for remote work. Furthermore, Nextpoint has facilitated seamless document sharing between staff, clients, and opposing counsel, enhancing collaboration and simplifying workflows. The flexibility and cost-effectiveness of Nextpoint have been highly valued by users, enabling increased case and information upload, access, and sharing. Moreover, the software has significantly expedited the review process for massive email reviews and the elimination of non-responsive documents. Overall, Nextpoint has proven to be an efficient and user-friendly solution for organizing, reviewing, and managing large volumes of legal documents in high-stakes litigation cases.

Intuitive User Interface: Nextpoint's user interface is highly praised by users for its intuitive and familiar design. They find it easy to navigate, with quick access to necessary functions. The clean and straightforward layout allows them to locate the information they need without any confusion.

Efficient Document Reviews: Users appreciate Nextpoint's software for its efficiency in managing large volumes of documents during reviews. They can easily gather and organize documents, making the review process smoother. The ability to tag and make notes on documents within the platform streamlines their workflow and enhances productivity.

This flexibility enables users to adapt Nextpoint's tools to match their unique requirements seamlessly.

Cons:

  1. Tedious and confusing category mapping: Some users have found the step to map out categories in Nextpoint to be tedious and confusing, with difficulty finding the correct category. Furthermore, when trying to create a new category, they often receive a message that it is already in use, even though it is not in the dropdown.
  2. Slow data download and search filters issues: Users have mentioned that the system can be slow when downloading data and documents. Additionally, some search filters do not retrieve the requested documents, causing frustration for users.
  3. Lack of user-friendliness and technical expertise required: Some users believe that Nextpoint is not as user-friendly as other options available. They mention that certain aspects of the software require technical expertise and training or contacting tech support for assistance.

Users highly recommend Nextpoint for companies in need of a cloud-based software to discover and collect data. They emphasize that Nextpoint is a huge time saver, making it ideal for discovery and production needs. Furthermore, reviewers suggest that Nextpoint's unique and cool features make it suitable for companies outside the legal field as well. Law firms looking for an easy-to-use eDiscovery platform with cost control options should consider Nextpoint.

Users highly praise the customer service provided by Nextpoint, noting their responsiveness and helpfulness. They also recommend taking advantage of Nextpoint's training programs to become proficient in utilizing all its features. However, users advise thoroughly vetting specific requirements to ensure that Nextpoint fully meets their needs, as some functionality is still being developed. Additionally, having an administrator who can oversee the administration of Nextpoint within the office is recommended.

Users suggest investing time into training prior to implementation and continuing training to ensure correct usage of the platform. It is suggested that new users be prepared to dedicate time to learn how to use Nextpoint effectively, even though it is quite powerful and assists with litigation practice. Negotiating a package deal with Nextpoint for a monthly hosting fee for multiple cases is also recommended. Before deciding on Nextpoint, it is advised to read reviews and speak with other users.

Overall, anyone in need of eDiscovery software or considering switching platforms should consider Nextpoint. It is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized projects and serves as an easy-to-use tool that can be easily administered by non-technical staff members. Users appreciate the availability of metadata information for efficient searching within Nextpoint, as well as its powerful search capabilities and receptiveness to user suggestions. The platform is considered helpful in medium-sized linear review projects and depo prep.

Users highly value Nextpoint's customer support and suggest practicing with smaller cases before using it for a case about to go to trial. In comparison to other platforms such as Relativity, Nextpoint has received positive feedback. It is considered easy to learn and use, with several analytics features for those interested in numbers. It is also recommended to have a tech-savvy individual act as the point person when interacting with Nextpoint.

I use NextPoint on a daily basis for all my eDiscovery needs - from document review to document production, the software meets a plethora of needs for both our internal needs and the needs of my clients.
  • Processes eDiscovery
  • Provides a platform for documents to be reviewed for relevancy and privilege.
  • Prepares documents for production.
  • Allows you to prepare a privilege log.
  • Allows you to share a collection of documents with specific people.
Cons
  • Easier customization of its grid view.
  • Easier customization of its coding panel.
  • Easier way to use split screens/view documents.
I have used many eDiscovery platforms and NextPoint is by far my favorite in terms of ease of processing documents and preparing documents for production. The customer service team is second to none and the sales team is very eager to find customizable solutions for specific cases. I would like to see some updates to the review platform but the development team is constantly rolling out updates and making improvements. I cannot say enough good things about the software and the company as a whole.
  • Ability to quickly/easily process eDiscovery.
  • Ability to quickly/easily review documents for production.
  • Ability to quickly/easily produce documents.

Mahendru, P.C.'s two attorneys (including myself), as well as our paralegal, use Nextpoint to manage the e-discovery process (document collection, document production, and document review).
  • For e-discovery software, Nextpoint is extremely user-friendly compared to some others on the marketplace.
  • For document review, Nextpoint's user interface is very intuitive and simple.
  • Nextpoint allows small firms to manage complicated loadfile document productions, things that would typically need to be outsourced to third-party e-discovery companies.
Cons
  • Tagging email families and related documents can take a bit longer than other e-discovery platforms.
In my opinion, Nextpoint is best suited for small or mid-sized firms that want to bring the e-discovery process in-house, whether to save costs (if on contingency), to earn additional revenue (if billing client for e-discovery), or just to be able to control in real time what goes on inside the software.

Nextpoint is also good for firms that want to cap their e-discovery costs. Nextpoint is one of the few e-discovery platforms that charge flat fees instead of per-gigabyte, the latter of which can spiral out of control price wise.

For big firms with dedicated in-house e-discovery personnel, Nextpoint may not be the best choice because what you gain in simplicity, you do lose a bit in functionality. There are other, slightly more robust e-discovery products on the marketplace.
  • Nextpoint allows our firm to take on and manage cases with massive document productions, when previously we may have not had the resources to handle such cases.
  • Nextpoint enables us to generate revenue from handling e-discovery in house while controlling costs at the same time, instead of outsourcing it to a far more expensive third-party e-discovery expert.
Blow for blow, there is not too much difference between Nextpoint's and Relativity's functionality. I would say that Nextpoint has a more user-friendly and attractive interface, although it does lack a bit of the functionality of Relativity.

But, Nextpoint far exceeds Relativity when it comes to cost and ease of use. It is not practical for a small firm to purchase or operate Relativity, especially if the firm is handling lots of large, document-intensive cases.
As an attorney at a small firm, I need an e-discovery program that (1) I can manage myself without outsourcing to a third-party e-discovery expert, and (2) won't end up bankrupting my firm or my clients with outrageous per-gigabyte hosting fees. Nextpoint delivers on those fronts, without sacrificing the functionality and features I see in other e-discovery software products.

Great overall value with the basic package but does not have great support levels

We use Nextpoint for high volume e-discovery purposes. It is used on a selective case basis where the costs to host large amounts of data are cost-prohibitive. It provides a great resource for these types of cases but we use other software for smaller cases.
  • Can handle a large volume of data.
  • File room areas.
  • No hidden fees.
Cons
  • Limited organization of high volume of data.
  • I cannot see the original file structure in a visual way after import.
  • The folder screen has to be expanded to see all folders.
Very well suited to high volume data cases where cost is an issue. It is also very useful for sharing access to co-counsel, experts, etc. on cases without any additional fees. The pricing structure is clear and concise and easy to understand. Nextpoint is a great option to have in organizations with lots of cases without having to worry about minimums or high volume costs.
  • Scales across cases to keep costs down for all clients.
  • The help content is hard to understand and you have to pay more for assistance.
  • Given us options that we wouldn't have otherwise.
Easy to understand the pricing structure and there are no hidden fees. Modeled on a do it yourself basis which is nice. Less expensive than the other options on the market which makes it client-friendly. It is easily configured to set tags, folders, fields, etc to capture any information that is relevant to the case.
The basic package does not include support other than general issues and the help content is not very helpful. The next level has committed and dedicated resources which would provide a better rating here but for the basic package, the support is lacking which makes it a difficult starting option and as a result, you then miss out on the pricing benefits.

I have used NextPoint for two main reasons: organizing and reviewing large document productions and using it as a platform to generate client reports. The system has been invaluable while we have transitioned to working remotely. Numerous people can work on the same claim or file simultaneously. This has made us more efficient and better equipped to meet our clients needs and expectations.
  • Extremely customizable.
  • OCR text recognition and search functions are extremely impressive.
  • Very user friendly. It is extremely easy to train others on how to review documents in the system and how to use the system to make the review process easier.
Cons
  • There are certain system-level things that cannot be changed. They fit nicely into most document productions but are occasionally not useful.
  • Subfolders within review databases would be beneficial. At times, organization can become a bit cumbersome because there is no way to use subfolders within a folder in a database.
  • Adding the ability to generate reports into systems other than Excel would be a plus. A Microsoft Word based report would be great.
Nextpoint is great in a wide range of scenarios. Specifically, it has worked very well for me when we have been confronted with both large and small document productions which need to be reviewed. We have also been able to use Nextpoint to address some other, non-document production related problems. I think Nextpoint is a strong tool to consider in just about any scenario. The only time I would hesitate to use Nextpoint would be in some type of involved document production that needs many levels of organization. The lack of subfolders can be a bit of a challenge and, although the coding options meet the need in my opinion, it is not exactly what everyone is looking for.
  • Customization
  • Ease of use
  • Competitive and unique pricing structure
  • Positive overall. We have been able to maintain client relationships and try to build new ones based on what Nextpoint offers.
  • Pricing method makes it more profitable and cost-effective to use NextPoint on several projects simultaneously.
Nextpoint's ability to allow users to customize the way they use the system is what sets it apart. You can use Nextpoint in a variety of ways and completely customize the way the system tracks information and data. The ability to set up different searches and data points being tracked is extremely helpful.

Management and workflow of eDiscovery of litigation matters
  • Importing data is a breeze with Nextpoint.
  • Customer support is above and beyond any in the industry.
  • From collection to culling, to review, processing and production - this is by far the best program.
  • The Nextpoint team is constantly improving upon its great products and keeps users powered up and educated, using customer feedback.
Cons
  • Can't think of anything - they are always improving their product to meet the customers' needs.
I have used a multitude of products over the last 15 years of eDiscovery practice work and have found that this is the most user-friendly platform for all aspects of the EDRM model and for presentation purposes. It has been a lifesaver and a timesaver from the backend to the frontend of discovery and trial presentation. The program does the work so much quicker and without third-party intervention. I don't ever want to use another eDiscovery program!
  • Importing in-house
  • Production in-house
  • Review and tagging capabilities
  • Ability to prepare presentations directly from database sources - seamless.
  • This program pays for itself in time and money saved versus traditional eDiscovery platforms.
  • For less than $1,000 a month, all databases for all cases can be processed and produced for us with this program. It cuts out the middle man and the hidden expenses, costing the firm and the client far less than other eDiscovery programs.
